Very friendly staff, Nice swimming pool. We were lucky to have a car available so we were able to look for some nice local seafood restaurants in the direction of Ban Phe.

as it was the off season, the resort was extremely quiet but the service was pretty good and facilities clean. the pools were very nice and the beach much better than the public beach. food was fairly overpriced for the quality but that's to be expected at similar hotel. not much in the immediate vicinity but only 15 minute sontaew ride to ban phe.
Restaurant Tip:
Breakfast buffet has surprisingly decent bread for Thailand.

lovely grounds, nice beach. nice room and restaurants nice. miles from anywhere means you are prisoner to the hotel prices. very expensive. western prices for a thai holiday. frees shuttle twice daily, 09am and 12:30pm but no return on the second bus! wi fi not free as advertised. first 30 mins then pay up to for a week ! awful, s l o w internet, not worth 40p.

Stayed at Novotel to get out of BKK for awhile and enjoy the peace and quiet. Stayed during the off season so things were a little unkempt.
However, the pools were still beautiful and the beach was still clean. We lost power during the day and early morning quit a bit don't know if that's normal or not.
The breakfast selection was not up to par with what I expected from the Novotel chain (Breakfast is too expensive and the food is not worth the money...at all) ...I was somewhat disappointed. Then again, it may have had something to do with it being off season, I'm not sure though.
The staff are friendly, they have a message place right there in the hotel that is nice and it looks like they have a shopping area that was closed because of our timing, but when it's up and running I'm sure it's nice to go into.
Restaurant Tip:
because breakfast so insanely expensive, we found buffalo bill restaurant, about a 15-20 minute drive from the hotel, with great breakfast/lunch & dinner!
