Small resort , friendly staff

We stayed only one night while going on to another location . the staff were friendly and the hotel was of a good standard , food in the restaurants was good and there was a minibus to take us to our ferry the next day .
only one issue was that the Italian restaurant and beach side pool were under renovation . as we were only there for 1 day this was not an issue.

What A Gem!

What a gem of a place. First time going to Rayong and my 3 nights stay in Novotel is my best in all my travelling in Thailand. The room is nice, big and very clean too! The breakfast is very good and it varies everyday. The pool is clean and lovely, so is the beach. Wish I had stay there longer. Will surely return again next year.

Smart and clean Hotel with good service

For me the location was very good as I was doing a diving course quite close. Maybe a bit out on a limb for some people.
The food was very good but pricey, there is a good friendly cafe accross the road if you want cheap breakfast.
Generaly a good place to stay

This was our second stay at this hotel within a month.
It was very good the first stay. However the second stay experience did not match up to the firsts.
We were accomodated into the second building in a room that faced a walled back garden. The location was dingy !

The setting is restful and tranquil !

We reserved three nights at the Novotel Rim Pae Resort Rayong. The main pool and the Italian restaurant are under reconstruction and jack hammers go from morning until night. A notice claims the work will be finished by October. My guess is it will be at least December. The pictures tell the story.
The poolside ground floor balcony to our room was dusty and the pot plants were dying from lack of water. An accumulation of cigarette butts in the pots reflected on poor room management.
A green snake, was between us and our room after breakfast.There were plenty of creepy crawlies for nature lovers.
The wind on the beach is relentless; better to vacation at Koh Samui at this time of the year. The choppy waves here are unpleasant, the beach sand is brown, and sewage is washed up onto the beach. You will be alone if you swim in the ocean.
The resort is 37 kms south of Rayong city and a long way from anywhere with no local attractions to visit. Saturday night dinner in the resort restaurant was marred by a university faculty singing karaoke in the adjoining room while people on cellphones from that room invaded the restaurant to talk at the top of their voices on subjects from car repairs to house moves. Outside, the Truscott family had a reunion with 20 children who screamed and yelled and played from 6:50am in the pool outside our room and banged doors until midnight.
The Thai restaurant across the road from the resort is recommended for breakfast, lunch and dinner at a quarter the price of the resort; it's quiet. The food's good; breakfast of freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, two eggs any style, bacon and toast cost Baht 120 or $4. Thai and western food is available all day.
We left a day ahead of schedule - forfeiting the money paid in advance for the third night. Fortunately we had a hire car so we could escape! Such was our "quiet weekend away from Bangkok."
Room Tip: Go to Koh Samui instead.

Great hideaway during the weekdays

the room rate was quite reaonable, however, the rate for room include breakfat was quite high. i have noticed that most of the quests stayed at the hotel the day i checked in all came out to have dinner out of hotel,on the opposite site of the road. as now is during the low season, the hotel is very quiet,hence, anyone who needs a quet place with all the standard services,they should take this place into their consideration.

i kind of have to like this hotel since i have been there before and am going there again. located right by the beach, it's a short way from one's room to the waters of ao thai. wifi is a bit expensive as well - there are many hotels where this is complimentary.
