Unique hotel on the river
8.7
Had a great stay at the Boutique Raft Resort. We didn't organize a ride to the hotel from the Nam Tok train station but there is usually a taxi waiting there. Wanted to save money so we walked to the hotel (about 3km). Greeted with a welcome drink and friendly staff. The floating rooms were quite unique. The balcony had chairs overlooking the river. Rooms were clean though walls were pretty thin. Hotel is aware of this and asks guests to respect quite hours starting at 10PM. Good place to just relax. They had activities at the front desk ranging from Erwan Waterfalls, to elephant bathing, to rafting the river. Somewhat expensive but is almost equivalent to taking a taxi around to those places. At least you have a reliable guide if you go through the hotel. The move activities you book, the more of a discount you get! The filling breakfast was a selection of American, continetal, or Thai.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Erwan waterfalls is a nice trip an hour away.

Very nice environment
Quiet, Charming, Amazing landscape

We had a very nice time a the Boutique Raft resort. It is always fully booked so we were happy to be able to sleep there. Wooden Rooms on the river are charming, natural swimming pool is very surprising but pleasantly. Moreover, it's not too far from Erawan Waterfalls which is an essential spot of Kanchanaburi.

A place for tranquility
On the River Kwai. Clean big rooms. Good for couple, family, even with children to stay

Its definitely a nice place to be in if you prefer to be in a quiet, calm and peaceful location. Sitting out in the balcony and looking at the river just calms your mind.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Would prefer to stay in this location (Nam Tok Station) because its away from Kanchanaburi station, where the attractions and the tourist crowds are in.

Nice location and relaxing atmosphere
Quite, Few rooms, Clean, Special location, Friendly staff

We only stayed for one night and had one of the rooms located on the river (i.e., the room is floating and the movement can be felt). A special experience which made up for the long bus trip from Bangkok. The hotel and the rooms were clean, it was quite and with only a handful rooms we had a lot of privacy. The staff was friendly but not really helpful when we were looking for a possibility to get to the Erawan national park. They offered us one overpriced take it or leave it option, negotiating was not possible at all. In the end we found a driver from a neighbour resort that took us there for half the price. The thai food was really good, the american breakfast was ok.

Gorgeous Location, but far from civilization
Beautiful rooms, amazing scenery!
7.3
I suppose when we booked this room, we should've looked closer at it's exact location to Kanchanaburi...We thought we were booking a room 5-10minutes outside the city limits on the River Kwai....When we arrived at the Kanchanaburi Bus Terminal, taxi's wanted to charge us baht (about $37usd) to take us to the hotel....We opted to take a local, unairconditioned bus, which only cost baht, but took a hot, sweaty 1.5 hours to get near our hotel!!! We were dropped off in front of a shop, but had no idea where to go. Thankfully, the kind shopkeeper took pity on us and called the Boutique River Raft and the owner came and got us within 10 minutes!
Once we arrived at the hotel, things went much smoother...The hotel is set in a jungle river paradise. The River Raft rooms are looooovely and spacious! The free breakfast was an added bonus! They've built a "swimming pool" raft into the river which is fun to swim in and lounge next to on a quiet day...Hotel staff were friendly and efficient!
Unfortunatetly, leaving was just as difficult as arriving. We'd booked a bus to Bangkok from a nearby bus stop....Unfortunately, the bus was 1.5 hours late, and when it arrived, there was only standing room available (for the duration of the 4-5 hr trip back to BKK)....We decided NOT to take that bus, couldn't get a refund. We instead opted again for the un-air con bus back to Kanchanaburi then on to BKK....
Overall, our stay was pleasant at the hotel, but getting to and from the hotel almost caused us to lose our religion! L(
Travel tip:
While they say there is "wifi" in the hotel, it's only accessable in the lobby, not in the rooms....
