Nightlife Tip:
Once you are out of the hotel, you have the Green Mango on the other side. Its the place to party, then head to Sound ...... (cant remember the rest of the name).

It's more like a hostel for revelers than a hotel. I was in the same van on arrival from the ferry as men who had just finished army service and want noise. The beach front has been taken over completely by noise and crowd with fire acts and drunks dancing. All day there is piped music and a deep base that goes right through you. You cannot get away from it, even in one of the three small pools - in which it's impossible to swim - there was a DJ! The sunbeds around each pool are packed together and all taken. The place is a real mess and run by staff who seem in a state of shock from the mass of people passing through. They are as inconsiderate as 'guests' are to them. There is no breakfast buffet, is very basic and not cooked well.
I paid more for a quiet deluxe room. It was basic with nowhere to sit or hang anything. You cannot read in bed because there are no reading lights. All rooms are packed together and look right into opposite rooms. The room is dark because you have no choice but to draw the curtains fully closed, the path is outside with people walking past and staff shout to each other and use loud walkie talkies. They have rooms where they meet and chat and one was next to my room. They do not care they are noisy and disturb guests because the whole place is noisy. The density is extremely high and they are still building!
I moved out to a much quieter, safer cheaper, better beach resort just down the road. I could not take anymore.

Great resort, best location

The staff are very helpful and friendly. I was late arriving on Samui because my travelmate was sick. I didn't even think to call the hotel, just gave up on the reservation. Arrived in Chaweng the next day and stopped by Ark to see the place. I explained my situation to an enquiring staff member and was promptly offered a room for that night...a very pleasant surprise.
The resort has a big club scene on the beach, with a DJ platform suspended over one of three swimming pools. Despite that, the rooms are quiet. They are also spacious and modern. Here, the families and parties mix seamlessly, in a nicely balanced harmony.
Great value for the money, right in the center of Chaweng.

Goood place to stay at,
Stayed with 3 other mates. Had a blast, wed and fri they have free BBQ and have a party by the pool. The only negative comment I have is the wifi, always drops in and out - signals are weak. Happened to multiple people I know that were staying there.

Ark Bar is located in the heart of Chaweng, which is a great location for those that want to be in centre of the action. The Resort has a 'party feel' and appeals to a young market. There are three pools, and ample beach chairs. Music if often playing from around noon until 1am, however we requested a room away from the bar so the noise did not bother us.
The rooms are good - nothing special however I would recommend paying a little extra for the junior suites as they are located in a better area of the resort.
Overall, we had a great time and would recommend this resort for those who want to be close to the night life in Koh Samui,
Restaurant Tip:
Check out 'La Taverna', an Italian Restaurant about two mins from Ark Bar. It is highly rated on Trip Advisor and has fantastic food.

Our first impressions of the ark bar were not great. Reception was down a little side alley and looked a bit dodgy. We were shown to our room and were disappointed with its size and also cleanliness of the bathroom and overall decor. We had a first floor room and the footpath through the resort between the road and the beach went right outside our front door (which was glass) so we had to have our curtains closed at all times which meant no sunlight at all in our room which was frustrating!
If you are not concerned much about your room then the ark bar is great! The pool has a great atmosphere with a live dj every afternoon and great atmosphere with heaps and heaps of lounge space which we loved! Also great service by the pool with waiters and can have lunch from the restaurant right by the pool! The restaurant has a huge menu with everything you could want from Thai to pizza to burgers!
Ark Bar is in a great spot right on the main strip of Chaweng beach.

It was like walking into heaven after a log day on buses and ferries coming from Phuket. Comfy beds, grey pillows, hot shower, tv!, great atmosphere!! The best part was the relaxed vibe of the place. Efficient yet mildly unfriendly staff. Get over the fact that they won't kiss your bottom and you will have a wonderful time! Best for young people with a bit of cash to looking to have a good time!

Overall the hotel is ok but we had bad experience at the pool side. The cleaner scolded us being go into public toilet with wet body & at the same time there is others visitor & she dint scold them .....
