stayed in junior suite,,it was excellent ,close to the beach, bars and the music..all staff excellent and friendly''wed and fri nights they have a great beach party
hotel is right in the centre of town/beach and your room 75 metres to the beach
thursday night from 4pm they put on a free barbaque
Hotel Feature Tip:
room numbers 6000to 8000 are in the centre of the complex and little noise is heard at night if you want an early nights sleep

stayed at ark bar for 2 nights. if you are young and into partying then this resort is for you. if you rather have more peace and quiet and relaxation then this isn't the place. there was constantly loud music most nights due to beach parties. the beds were great. stayed in the junior suite, had an ant problem with the first suite, asked to be moved into another and that wasn't a problem.
hard to get peace and quiet even when the resort wasn't throwing a party due to the locals trying to sell you everything they possibly can, day and night. overall, right on the beach, restaurant was decent, centrally located at chaweng beach and staff was friendly with free wifi for guests.
Nightlife Tip:
Good for younger crowd and the party scene. If you're looking for rest and relaxation then not the place. Centrally located at Cheweng Beach and town.

junoir suites are new and cleaned daily.. only 50 metres from the pool, bar and the beach..free wi fi in room and music stops at 2am so plenty of sleep time..at age 64 i had a ball and cant wait until i return next year.. the resort is also only 15 minutes from the airport
Hotel Feature Tip:
junior suite rooms with numbers above 7000 are the best as music doesnt disturb you if you want and early night..the resorts own beach bars also serve great food at a fair price

I loved stay at SharkBar Hotel.
The staff is very helpfull and the room is clean and confortable for the price.
Ark bar offer great food on the beach and the price is good.
I recommend this hotel in Koh Sumoi
Nightlife Tip:
Two times a week the hotel offer lual at night on the beach.
People from all others hotels came to enjoey the party
The hotel also is close to the center and night life so you just need to walk 2 min.

could not get a better location in samui...

we stayed in the ark bar twice on our holiday the first time been in the superior garden wing and on arrival to the lovely reception shown in the pictures we were sent down a lane to what i can only describe as a a dive!!! the staff were unbelievably rude and the rooms although were reasonably clean were worth no were near the money we paid if your looking for standard stay at the mandalay next door clean basic and 3rd of the price!! but regardless to this the location is perfect the bar is best on beach and thanks to the lovely "pat" working in the ark bar we gave the hotel a second shot and stayed again when returned to samui only this time upgrading to the deluxe room....100% nicer definitely worth what i think converted to an extra the difference in how we were treated by staff was unreal, the rooms were lovely and this time we were welcome to use the nice reception

We were only here for one night but enjoyed staying here. It is a great location on Chaweng beach, with small but clean rooms, balcony, A/C, and a safe box in the rooms. However, I spent more on this one night that I have for other hotels in Thailand.
Restaurant Tip:
The restaurant at the hotel is pretty pricy so we went next door to a place called Relax and they have happy hour and competitive prices and its right on the beach.

I love it.
Cheap, convenient, clean, in the heart of the action.
Staff are very helpful. Food is great. Free WIFI.
Great Beach Party on Wednesday nights.
Will keep staying there for sure.
Nightlife Tip:
Satrt at the Henry Africa Bar and then go to Green Mango night club.
The Islander Bar is a great restaurant across the road... great food and sports.

while the location is good, there must be other places right there that are so much nicer. sure, ark bar does host perhaps the liveliest beach scene at night, but you could take full advantage of that and walk a few feet down the place to stay at a nicer accommodation. the room was fine in that it was clean, it just had almost no accommodations- barely even a blanket, two very small towels, and the bathroom left much to be desired. if you wanted to stay in chaweng and were really into the party scene, i'd recommend staying near by and using ark bar by night.
Nightlife Tip:
If you wanted to stay in Chaweng and were really into the party scene, I'd recommend staying nearby and using Ark Bar for the night life. Ark bar is as expensive as a lot of places but far less nice.

Great hotel along the beach

Stayed in the deluxe rooms for two nights. On arrival i was willing to upgrade to junior suite but when i saw both types of rooms didnt see much difference. So settled with deluxe.
Definitely take rooms on the upper floors whatever category rooms you want. They have more privacy.
The hotel provides 2 towels for beach and two for the room, which was good. The balcony with every room was plus point again. Beds were comfortable but no blanket was provided. Just a sheet to cover yourself. Safe in the room also did good.
Washrooms were small but worked ok for me as i was travelling alone.
There are plenty of travel agents and restaurants close by, so makes everything easy.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Do take a trip to Angon Marine Park. Its a good plan for a day trip and very well managed. I paid 1400 baht which included 200 baht commission. Probably that will be the best price you will get.
Lamai beach is bit far off and not much to see either. Bike for a day may cost 200-300 baht while a tuk-tuk/songkeaw trip may cost you 100-150 baht per person one way to lamai.

Not worth the money.

The room was nice, and newly decorated, but small. Also the bathroom was small and outdated. Definitely not worth the price considering that there are (comparable) rooms just next door for much cheaper. The restaurant is nice also, but too expensive. The picture shown on the website is not the same as the room you get. We were given the option to upgrade for an extra 300baht for the room we should have gotten originally.
That being said, the location is great for eating/going out/going to the beach, but probably worth it to look around at some other places once you get there.
