I can see all green outside the windows and every corner of the hotels. They have well trimmed trees and grass grounds. Of course, tall palm trees as well. but not mosquitos. I didn't get any bite, my wife,just a couple. It seems they fumigate the room and resort regulary. and their thai food at resturant is delicious and reasonably priced. They renovate outside of their swimming pool. So it was a bit annoying to use swimming pool. Also, wish they add some thai food selection at their breakfast buffet. The hotel is located in the center of Chaweng beach. Top Market(supermarket), Watsons and a lot of resturants are all within walk distance. reasonaly priced hotel. All in all, good place to stay

The Baan Chaweng is extremely well situated to enjoy a holiday on Samui. A few steps from your room onto the beach and 3 minute walk up the driveway to all the action of Chaweng's shopping and night life. Friendly and helpful staff were always available. The room was very plain but actually totally adaquate. On entering the room for the first time I was greeted with a strange smell, like a very strong damp smell. I later discovered that it was some herbs they put in the bathroom most probably to keep insects and mosquitos away. You don't really get used to it but with the right attitude you just accept it. Baan Chaweng is a reasonably short drive from the airport (about 15 to 20 minutes)Once you reach the hotel entrance you feel like your are on holiday. Friendly staff welcome you and there was no fuss about being allocated a room etc.The hotel and chalets are located in a tropical garden setting which gives a peaceful relaxed feel.Breakfast is served a few metres from the sea and the food selection is more than adequate to keep you going until dinner.The beach in front of the hotel provides exactly one one needs to feel like your are on a tropical island and one can quickly forget about work etc.The massages on the beach are relaxing and done by friendly staff. The close proximity to the shops restuarants and bars was great so there is no need to waste time on travel. If you want to get around the island, hiring a scooter is simple and cheap. I found no reason to not want to come back to this resort.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : A day trip to the Marine Reserve is well worth it if you want to get a feel of Thailands small islands and snorkel or kayak.

The location is ideal, and the entrance to the hotel is set back from the main road, unlike other hotels, giving it privacy. The grounds are a treat, with the villas set in an exotic garden, filled with tropical plants and shady trees. The grounds and the beach are the main feature of this place. Little pathways, etched with real leaf stencils lead you to a kidney shaped pool, which overlooks a beautiful crescent shaped beach. The rooms are neat, minimalistic but well kept. The bathroom has large built in cupboards which were useful. The clutter of jet skis along the beach spoils the view. After a very pleasant stay of 3 nights, we had to check out very early on Sunday morning. We were not served breakfast, but were given a lunch box with two slices of white bread, a small apple, and two tubs of jam. We were asked to collect the same from the reception by a very rude receptionist, who was unlike the polite staff we had encountered throughout our stay. Our friends in a hotel two properties away, who were checking out at the same time, were treated to a hot breakfast and received a complimentary drop to the airport, unlike us. Our checkout experience left a bad taste, but the magical setting and location of the hotel, will make me forget that in the long run. We were lucky to find Ban Chaweng Spa and Resort on the internet. Booking through Agoda was a breeze, even when making changes to the booking. I was nervous that the hotel would not live up to the reviews or pictures i had seen. But we were in for a lovely surprise. The garden setting of the villas we stayed in was magical. The room had a large veranda with benches where one could sit and sip tea and read. The pool was a few steps away, and i would go for a dip late in the afternoon when i would have it completely to my self. Little massage canopies were set up on the beach where one could just give in to the experience without having to leave the beach. One afternoon a sudden rain shower sent us srambling to a water proof shed, and the massage just continued there. In the evening there was a choice of restaurants on the strip, a stones throw from the hotel, but the hotel food, especially the Thai and sea food was just as good as anywhere else. If i ever go back to Koh Samui, i will surely stay at Ban Chaweng again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : I took a Mountain Safari tour and didnt enjoy the first two hours watching the monkey show, and "elephant trekking" which is just a short ride on an elephant in a run down compound. Was lucky to have good company in our jeep, and that was a saving grace. In hind sight, i would hire a jeep and go see the sights on my own, rather than be rushed or taken to sights i was not interested in just because they were part of the tour.
