Nice reception area and friendly staff. Good location - right on the beach. Nice pool, good breakfast.

The room was really old, we really did not like it, bathroom had mildew on the ceiling.

We stayed only one night, the manager of the reception was kind enough to let us cancel the rest of our stay and we moved to a different hotel due to the fact that the room was not what we expected.

right on the beach, excellent and reasonably priced thai massages on site, excellent breakfast, close to the action

only one key available per room which doesn't work well when you are sharing a room with someone else and aren't on the same time frame, the decor was a little outdated and doesn't look very much like the pictures on the website, don't have your laundry done by the hotel, extremely overpriced.

Nice and reasonably priced authentic Thai hotel. The massages on the beach are amazing and very reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet is excellent as well. Great place to stay if you want to be close to the action and don't want to pay too much. Don't get your laundry done the hotel though. They charge 1-2 US dollars for a pair of socks.

Location is very good. Near Chabad House

if you break anything you get charged for it even an ashtray. Hotel is on a one way street so you have to go all the way around to get to it.

The staff was very warm and friendly. They were very easy to work with and very knowledgeable. There was no seating area in the room. It had a day bed but was not good for sitting. They had shampoo and toothbrushs with toothpaste, combs,etc. The rooms were very clean and the turn down at night was nice. Breakfast was very good and the chef made the eggs just right. Two bottles of water per day. Local calls were free very nice. I would stay there again. Almost 5 stars. 4 1/2 for sure.

Hotel Feature Tip : Go to a special dinner night and also take a class offered by the hotel.

on the beach, nice pool, amazing breakfast, nice rooms (if not two standard rooms near the reception)

there two standard rooms just behind the reception desk, with no balcony, with a view on the road- because we paid they tried to give us this room, saying "talk to your agency if you have a problem". the bathrooms are without any ventilation

we've been picked up by the hotel from the airport - initially they said it would cost us 200B, but they didnt charge us at the end. As we have arrived, they tried to give us a room behind a reception desk, that had no balcony and all three windows couldn't be opened as they looked either on the road or on the reception hall or on the neighbours. The room itself was nice and big, but as we didn't even have a place to dry our bathing-suit, we demanded another room. They moved us to a room near, which was smaller, but with a better location and a balcony. The room itself is nice, except for the bathroom that has no ventilation. The breakfast was amazing- the best we had in all other hotels in Thailand; the pool was beautiful and the beach near the hotel is superb. Except for the fist accident with the room, we were very content with our stay.

probably the best part of chaweng beach, clean, standard rooms are nice and big, pool and view from pool is like post card, breakfast is good, staff is helpful, good value for money

bathrooms do no thave adequate lighting at night. deluxe rooms are a bit small

i have stayed at banana fan twice in two years. it is a great value for money. The standard rooms are very spacious with nice decor. the staff keeps it very clean. the bathrooms are nice but not well lit at night. the hotel must do something about it. the pool area is very nice and unlike some other resorts you can get a lounge chair. the view from the pool of the ocean is breathtaking. The breakfast there is quite nice also. they have a nice little massage place as part of the hotel, under the pool area overlooking the beach. and the price of the massage is the same as any other massage places on the beach. the staff is helpful and friendly. i would definitely recommend this hotel.

Travel tip : must try food at ninja crepes. do take day trips to either marine park or koh tao. the hotel arranges it.

The size of the hotel which was small, the layout of the accommodation where we were not looking directly into other peoples apartments, the well kept gardens and the pool with coia carp fish, the access to the beach.

The air conditioning which was noisy and being unable to adjust the temperature it was icy cold and too warm if it was not swithched on.

A transfer from to and from the airport was prearranged, it was lovley to arrive at Koh Samui Airport after a very long journey to be greeted by a member of Banana Fan Sea staff, the welcome at Bannana Fan Sea Resort was equally warm and the staff were freindly informative and efficient.Our accommodation was equally as welcoming with our towels set out on our bed in the shape of elephants with orchids, there were toilietiries availble right down to toothpaste and toothbrush which was useful for any oversights in packing.There were also umberellas available within the room, as it was monsoon season this was useful. The security guards were vigilant in patroling the grounds and beach, this provided us with a sense of being looked after. The beach area was kept clean as was the pool area. The entertainment provided by the Hotel was excellent and gave an authentic flavour of Thailand, the theme nights and the food that was available was good value for money and was competivie with restaurants outside. The Hotel was in a good location for accessing shops and restaurants outside. It was excellent being able to book tours within the hotel reception. Breakfast was adequate and for the size of the hotel I felt that there was plenty of choice.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Elephant Trekking was the highlight in Koh Samui for me. Lots of good entertainment in the form of live bands, particularly in Coyote Bar.

The location is great, one of the best parts of Chaweng Beach,the staff are excellent in their service.

The music played throughout the resort is in desperate need of updating, mind you i dont mind the music from the 70/80,s but all the time is a bit too much to bear. As a couple who enjoy fine food, the Banana Fan was a little disappointing with what was on offer, unless you like european food whilst in Asia you will then not be let down.

The Banana Fan is in an excellent position on Chaweng beach, the staff and the service are of good quality, obviously the management treat them well, we have stayed at other resorts in Chaweng and have found the staff a little tired and not in anyway interested in the guests. Overall a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Restaurant Tip : Try various restaurants scattered along the beach or the main street,as there are some excellent dining experiences to be had, but unfortunately not at the resort itself.

Friendly staff. Immaculate grounds, swimming pool area and beach.

Becoming expensive per square meter of room!

This was our third stay at Banana Fan and was once again most enjoyable. service is good; breakfasts are excellent; the grounds, swimming pool area, beach were spotless-- no shortage of chairs and towels.

Banana Fan is an older style resort- well maintained and good value for money- we stayed in a large room near the reception area- hotel provided us with a DVD player free of charge- great because it rained for 3 days of our 6 day holiday. Very good resort- great beach with waves.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Rent a car opposite Banana Fan was good value- 1200 Baht /day

We stay at banana fan sea hotel from the 11 feb. to the 23 feb 2009 and allready at the arrival it was a fantastic experience to stay here.Everything was perfect down to the smallest detail. The guest feels like a king & queen and our daughter felt like a princes: We wold definitely stay again,and recommend the hotel to our friends

I really can recommend this hotel. we stayed before in some other places in Thailand without booking in advance and for the last days in samui i wanted to a good place for relaxing and with good service. on the beginning i read many reviews on all webpages about this hotel and i had some doubts but as we arrived i was very happy about my choice. everything was very nice with a lot of details in the room and in the whole hotel area. The staff was very friendly. The beach had own sun chairs from the hotel and we always found one for ourselves. we went around samui and also the beach was the the best in samui (in our opinion). we really had a good time in the banana fan hotel.

the restaurant and the bar was very expensive.

Great Location, well managed, good breakfast buffet (for westerners) Beach is great with plenty chairs, very tidy with security.

Rooms too small (Superior)

Banana Fan Sea is a well kept Hotel in the 3-star category. Location is great in the heart of Chaweng with an abundance of restaurants around, also the hotel restaurant is good and reasonably priced. The problem is the size of the rooms - we booked two superior rooms, just too small. This is actually the only reason why I would not recommend this hotel to my friends. The peak season rate we had to pay was just too high for these rooms.

The centrally-located hotel is warm and welcoming, offering comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price. It has a clean, large beach and resaurant with excellent food. The staff are helpful and friendly offering a warm home away from home service.

The rooms need a little revamping, but overall they are clean and comfortable.

We had a fantastic time at the hotel, which is centrally-located near restaurants and shops. The hotel is warm and welcoming, offering comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price. It has a clean, large beach and resaurant with excellent food. The staff are helpful and friendly offering a warm home away from home service. We had a fantastic time at the hotel and would definately stay there again. The hotel is small and intimate with friendly staff and excellent service offering a great vacation in a positive setting.

Restaurant Tip : Club sandwhich is delicious!
