the location in Bo Phut is great, the hotel grounds are beautiful, and the concierge employees are friendly.
the music played in the beach restaurant is awful, the decor in the rooms is outdated, and the pool service and beach restaurant staff is un-friendly.
While Bo Phut is a charming village and we were happy we stayed there, the Bo Phut Resort and Spa was not a great experience. While the front office staff was friendly, we had a horrible experience with the pool boys....they were very un-eager to help with towels, they never smiled, and they actually made us feel un-welcome at the pool. One day after a day trip to Ang Thong, we came back to the hotel hot and exhausted and just wanted to dip in the pool to cool off. We asked one of the guys for towels and he actually questioned whether or not we were even staying at the hotel. (we had been there for 5 days.) When we gave him our room number, he further questioned us. He made us feel completely un-welcome as though we were lying so we could use their pool. The hotel manager offered to upgrade us to a better room as a result of the experience, but it was the day before we were leaving so not worth the room switch. Also, the pool did not give complimentary water. In Bangkok and Siem Reap, Cambodia, the fancy hotels gave free bottled water no matter where you were on the hotel grounds. We would never stay there again.

Very friendly staff, always keen to assist, room service excellent. Plunge pool divine.
On arrival we were told we could not have the room we booked but offered us an upgrade to junior suite. We declined on account it was on level 2, not practical with a toddler. This meant we had a villa with plunge pool instead but had to relocate after two days which was not convenient.
Overall a high quality resort with good accommodation, beach location, service and extensive buffet breakfast. Very child friendly but not overcrowded in pool or meals area. The beach is grainy and after visiting Chaweng beach easy to see why people prefer the latter, desite the crowds.
Restaurant Tip : Enjoyed a memorable evening at the exclusive Sila Evason Resort restaurant.

Our time at the hotel was very relaxing. The service was first class however not over the top. The childcare facilities were great and the staff were happy to entertain our young boy so we could enjoy the food and drink! He does now have a banana addiction!
Restaurant Tip : Starfish and Coffee was a great restaurant in the Fishermans village which is only a 5 minute cab ride.
