Blending colonial-style architecture with modern comfort, Buddy Lamai Beach Hotel is an attractive new addition to the Koh Samui hotel scene.

Located on the white sands of the peaceful Lamai beach, this boutique hotel promises intimate service and utmost privacy. All rooms have their own balconies and are tastefully decorated with contemporary Thai accents, while amenities include cable TVs, internet access and luxurious bathroom toiletries. Breakfast is served daily and there are numerous bars and restaurants close by, while the heady night life of Chawaeng is 10 minutes drive away.

The hotel has two nice pools, the better of the two is across the street with a nice view of Lamai Beach. There is a grocery market on site. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished.

Hotel is a bit isolated from shopping, cafes, etc. However, they have a variety of shops on hotel site (a bit more expensive but convenient). Advertised as "beach front" but really across the street from the beach - you can't actually see the beach from the hotel but it is very close.

The hotel is only a couple of years old and it was a great value. The rooms are decorated nicely with hardwood floors and a canopy bed. Overall it was a very comfortable stay. The staff was very friendly and the hotel offers poolside service for cocktails and food. The room service menu was lacking in character but decently priced. It was preferable to use the hotel infinity pool located directly across the street. It was a short walk and safe as they have staff on hand to assist with traffic. Even though it wasn't a water front view, rooms overlook coconut palms at the rear of the hotel.

- Room is a good size and clean. You get complimentary water and fruit. - Nice patio over the pool (but read cons). - Free internet - Near Spa Samui Resort, which has an amazing restaurant - Across the street, there is a great masseuse shop. I went there in 2006 as well and they still have great masseuses.

There are many bungalows and places ON the beach. Why stay across the road at the Buddy Hotel where you can't hear or be right on the ocean? The room is a lot nicer than the bungalow rooms on the beach, but if you are looking for scenery and ambiance, I would recommend a beach front hotel/inn/bungalow.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Check out the Massage place right across the street. Definitely eat at Spa Samui Resort restaurant, Rejuvenate. They are known for their raw and vegetarian food, but they also have other tasty food too!

The staff at Buddy are the Friendliest that we have come across in Thailand, Rooms are great and located at the nice quite end of the Lamai Beach......
