Great location, great beach, nice location for the gym. Lovely gardens!
Gym could use new equipment, it is such a perfect location right on the water.
We love the Grand Centra and have been going to this hotel for years! They have a great breakfast, one of the best in all the hotels we stay at. It is a perfect location right on the beach at Chaweng, but once you step into the hotel it is quiet and right on the beach. The grounds are beautifully maintained. But the SPA is the real reason why we return every year!!! The massage is perfect every time and we look forward to going to the spa every time we stay at this hotel.

Club lounge could be a better choice of food
Overall this was a very good hotel.
Great location clean tidy and very helpful staff.
This was our second stay this year and will be going back.
Next year.
On the down side just a small point the club lounge food.
Was a bit lacking, soup everyday for lunch was a bit boring.
There should have been a lot more thai food available as snacks.
Shopping Tip : One big downside if you try and travel by meter taxi.
They all want to rip you off.
A trip that should cost you around 70 baht to tesco.
They demand 300 baht and wont turn on the meter.
The same when you return from tesco they all say 300 plus.
Its like they have all agreed to rip you off
Lets please put a stop to this.
I know this for a fact i have been married to my thai wife for 20 years.
This was the main talking point over drinks in the club lounge.

Room cleanliness
Lack of porter on arrival
Our stay was not pleasant,
We arrived by car with luggage but there was no porter or valet parking available at the time, we had to carry our own bags.
Check in took a while
our room was a long way from reception, only one elevator and it was not working
Some of the towels were dirty
Bed was not King as advised but 2 singles pushed together, one side had no bedside table.
Biggest problem was the bedbugs very unpleasant.
Bed Linen was not changed even though requested. Some toiletry items missing on first day.
Several other minor irritations we were so happy to leave after 2 nights.
We had a very good meal at the Japanese Restaurant where they had a host Chef from Centara Bangkok.
The staff generally were helpful

Very clean end of beach, very spacious property with lots of lawns, friendly staff, nice pool, food good.
Rooms need upgrading,poor shower.
Very nice position, great grounds, staff very nice, food good,no complaints except the rooms need upgrading, water pressure poor, hot 1 moment, then cold,a little more effort required with tidying the property, cleaning exterior walkways,curtains/drapes in foyer need re rolling and look a mess.Would probibly stay again if upgraded, have been coming 10 years and many new properties offering heavy competition.
Shopping Tip : TIME SHARE company ABSOLUTE.Was stopped 6 times in 10 minutes with the jargon-SPEAK ENGLISH.Dont waste your time,WE DID.

Location, location, location, view, club facilities, friendly staff
water problems in room and very uncomfortable bed
The hotel was great, even though we had major water issues - at some stages no water at all in teh room and the bed was rock hard. These are things they can fix - but the rest was superb. I would defnitely go back.
Restaurant Tip : try the restuarants on the beach - great experience

only the employees could be a bit quicker sometimes.. check-in took ages..
would recommended it anytime though

- Nice beach
- Great rooms
- Service
The Centara Grand is the best resort on Chaweng Beach. The rooms and gardens are great. The location near the centre of Chaweng is ideal. We stayed for 9 nights in September and it was a great experience. Also the food is very, very good. In the garden there is sufficient space for sunbeds, the pools are very nice and after a couiple of steps you're on the beach. I would definitly go back to the Centara Grand. Highly recommended.

Excellent location, right on Chaweng Beach, in the quiter part of Chaweng Road, but still within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. Facilities, cleanliness/room service, are all excellent. All rooms looked out over manicured gardens, leading to the swimming pools and beach. Absolutely beautiful! The hotel's architecture has a colonial feel to it.
This is definitely one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in, and we have done quite a bit of travel in our time. We just could not fault the buffet breakfast, lots of choices and all you can eat. Try the Club Room option, as you can have free drinks during the day, as well as snacks and afternoon tea. Also I recommend Zico's Brazilian Restaurant, which has live music and entertainment, as well as fantastic food. All in all, is was just a wonderful experience. Definitely will be coming back!
Hotel Feature Tip : In my opinion the beach-side at Centara Grand is the best at Chaweng Beach. It has wonderful white sand (no rocks) & is much wider than other parts. Also, it's not shallow like it is further up, & just great for swimming.

Excellent location, adjacent to the beach in the quieter part of town but within a few mins walk of bars and restaurants. Daily activities in case you get bored of the beach include yoga, aqua aerobics, learn Thai and a gym, all of which were free.
The sheer size of the hotel meant that we had to walk for about 5 mins to get from our room to the road, which became a bit irritating after a while!
This hotel was recommended to us and we would happily recommend it to anyone else thinking of staying there. The facilities are excellent, the staff very friendly and helpful and the location perfect. The gym equipment could do with updating a bit but there was plenty of it and thats only a very minor complaint.
Nightlife Tip : Walking along the main road can be a bit of a hassle with people trying to sell you things. Try walking along the beach and cutting through instead - its a lovely walk in the evening and incredibly romantic for an after-dinner stroll!

It is a clean hotel with nice beach.
The pool and garden are nice as well. The rooms are clean and well equipped.
If you know the standard of 5* hotels in Thailand, this is definitely not 5* hotel. It is a nice 4* hotel. The service is good but not excellent as known in Thailand. The main street is very laud and dirty. Internet access is very expensive. 1 hour costs 200 Baht. This is a big disadvantage!
It is a nice 4* hotel with a nice beach and pool. Internet access is too expensive and service is not very good. The main street is very laud and dirty!
Travel tip : food at resort elements is fantastic and great rooms.

Location. Not in the heart of the vibrant night life. A short Baht taxi journey away to the hustle and bustle of the commercialised area.
Perfectly manicured grounds, pool and beach.
The only thing I'd suggest is perhaps having a few more people service the beach area. Your beach access spans over quite a distance. We were perched on the outskirts, so it was a little far to get something to drink. (but i was on holiday, and that's me being lazy! :)
Fantastic location. The island of Ko Samui is stunning! Centara Grand is located on the outskirts of the commercialised area (If Burger King and McDOnalds are your thing, then it's best to stay in the heart of Chaweng). It is close enough to go out at night and have fun, but far enough away to retreat back into the quietness of the perfectly manicured grounds. Don't get Centara Grand mixed up with the Centara Villas (the villas cater for couples and families, and is located a lot further out)
Travel tip : We were a little disappointed about the rental of the scooters/motorbikes. There is no alternative other than handing in your passport as collateral. Not even a cash deposit could persuade the vendors.

If you want to stay in the busy tourist area, this hotel is in the right location, and not to mention its right on the beach. The hotel is massive, with lots of facilities and services. The breakfast is also worth a mention.
When your staying in a grand hotel in Thailand, you would expect to receive free internet access and the rooms to be clean on arrival. Our room was full of insects, and the bed sheets did not appear to be clean, with sand in the bed.
This hotel is great for families, with lots of activities to do. Located right on the beach and in the action of Chaweng, its in a great spot. The breakfast was great, and room service also good value for money. I was dissapointed with the room cleanliness, and for this reason, probably would not stay there again.
