Friendly local staff
warm welcome
Majority of rooms were not facing the sea
The bed had bugs
My stay at the hotel was mixed. We received a warm welcome and complimentary trip to Full Moon party. The rooms were made up nicely with flowers on the beds.
However about 4am the next morning we were attacked by dozens of beetles/bugs in our bed.
Although the staff let us change rooms straight away and washed our clothes, there was no apology in the morning from the owner/Manager which I expected and thought would be common practice.
Nightlife Tip : Solo for evening cocktails
and reggae for music

Old furnishings and weekends have a loud band on the beach next door until 2am
I have stayed in the BeachComber 10 times in the past 2 years and watched it slowly age and lose customers in the recession. That's too bad because the hotel is graceful and comfortable even though renovations are needed. The staff have always been friendly and helpful and it feels like home to me.
Nightlife Tip : The hotel is halfway between bars along soi Reggae and Green Mango and half way along Chaweng beach so you can walk 10 minutes in any direction and see almost all of the Chaweng area.

Having breakfast overlooking the water
Have now been to the Beachcomber 7 times in the last 8.
It has the most beautiful views is with in a short walk to shopping and food places.
alhough I love where it is and the staff are
amazing and cant do enough for you the hotel is badly in need of a good upgrade.
It would appear Nothing has changed in the last 8 years except got quite expensive.
The hotel restaurant is very expensive, prices appear to have doubled in 12 months.
If you like rock hard beds you are really in luck.
But all things aside will probably stay again just to check out any changes.
Shopping Tip : If you are looking for a good Tailor try Narrys about 5 min walk left of the hotel

The Manhattan Hotel is well located in downtown Bangkok near all the action. Room rates are very competitive for this hotel but the rooms are poorly decorated and could do with some modernisation. Staff were also quite difficult to deal with in this hotel, a remarkable contrast to the people of Thailand in general.

The visitors who stay here are quite mature & civilised. You don't get the young partying type, so it's great for families.
Restaurant Tip : The Thursday night buffet dinner with the Thai music & dancing is fantastic, reserve your table early to get the best seats.

The travel agency inside the hotel (but not part of it) is expensive and not very good.

Beach front and best location for bars.
This hotel is good for first visit Ko Samui. The location is great for both beach, restaurants and bars.
If I have a chance to visit Ko Samui again, this hotel must be my first choice.
Beachcomber faces the beach and has restricted area for only the guests. It's easy to be there and relax.

Good place to spend the days on the beautiful part of Chaweng Beach and to spend the nights in the many bars and music pubs nearby.

When I arrived at Beachcomber there was a no power and the staff were not very heplful when checking in. I had no peace in my room. There was also a door leading to the next guestroom--this raised my concerns about security. The housekeeping staff were quite inconsiderate and they would have loud conversation outside my room which was very disturbing.
Breakfast was a nightmare as there were no trays and the tumbler was so small that I had to stand by the dispenser to keeping refilling it. The staff were like prison crew, they would stand in a row by the food watching as you helped yourself in case you took a reasonable portion, they would rather throw it away. I tried to escape with a piece of fruit to my room as the flies were most annoying, especially the ones in the food, but was prevented and interrogated on the spot and forced to sit in an uncomfortable environment.
The hotel was quite expensive. They would do what they can to get money out of you, this included luring you to the bar of an evening. The hiring of transport and events came at a premium. The mini bar took up the entire fridge, making it impossible to use; the fridge should not be advertised as a room facility for that reason.
