- Nice hotel - friendly staff - Well-decorated room and very nice bathroom

It would be nicer if the breakfast would be a buffet rather than "à la carte".

This has been definitely a great stay (very short though) at this hotel. I have been impressed by the quality of the room - nice bathroom, nice balcony. You can get a free WIFI connection if you need to stay in touch. Should you have no computer available, the staff will be glad to lend you a laptop. I will definitely stay at this hotel if I am going back to Samui again.

average hotel. location is central. spacious room (deluxe room. nice beach.

the photos on the web are so promising but the hotel was not the same! our terrace view was to a trashy roof's hotel. the room is old, the bed is very very hard and also the pillows. expensive for what you get. the staff didn't know well english breakfast=horrible!! the first room that we got was very dirty (the bath was full of someone's hair).

we came to thailand for our honeymoon and booked for pretty nice and expensive hotels (comparing to thailand's costs). we were very dissapointed with this hotel. we expected a clean room with a nice view (to the sea or a nice garden as they promise) and a cozy room, but instead we got a dirty room with unconfortable bed and pillow, with a view to a stinking rooftop. and a very untasty breakfast.

Travel tip : there is an amazing hotel in the same rates as dara samui called amari beach resort. it's amazing!

Dara Samui is a very well located hotel. Just a few stpes away from the night life of Koh samui and in front of a very beautiful beach. Perfekt for people who want to party. Very friendly staff and very clean rooms.

Food wasnt so good. Because there are so many bars next to it and can be noisy during the night( which in our case was perfekt as we were there for partying)

Beautiful Rooms, Free DVDs, breakfast til 2pm!

Didn't dislike anything. Someone mentioned the pool was small, yes probably true, but it's beautiful and was never crowded while we were there.

We stayed in the basic Superior Room and it was large enough to be comfortable for a week and Beautifully decorated. Staff very helpful and attentive, but not overly. Food in restaurant fantastic, fresh and well priced for Chaweng. We loved every minute, as did our friends who were staying in the next room. Delicious bath oils provided at no charge.

Amazing room design. Very nice shower, bath. Generous staff service. DVD Player Inside the room & movies for free at the reception.

Pool is small. Breakfast is not a buffet, doesn't offer variety.

Excluding the breakfast, I was very satisfied from the hotel, the room and the very nice and generous hotel staff. The location is on the beginning of the main road where everything happens in Chaweng beach which is very good too. the pool was not as big as expected (not suitable for swimming) just for relaxing in it.

If you like Chaweng, the location is great. The beach ares is very nice too.

When we arrived we had to bring our luggage upstairs: the reception is on the second floor, no porter was in sight, and the hotel has no elevators. The bathroom was not clean when we checked in, and the staff did not seem to clean much during our stay (other than making the bed and flushing some detergent down the toilet).

When I booked this hotel I was expecting something very nice, especially considering that the price was not that low for the season (end of September). In fact, my wife and I found that the hotel was either undertstaffed, or that the staff was not working that hard. Be aware that the hotel has multiple floors and no elevators at all, so it should be avoided if you are not 100% mobile. The room cleanliness was definitely deficient, although not terrible. That said, the hotel is in a very good location, on the north side of Chaweng beach, and surrounded by shops, restaurants, etc... The beach area is very nice, and overall very relaxing (if you don't consider those annoying beach vendors, of course).

central location, food

noise from near by clubs

dara samui is very well located, at the center of the beach. rooms are very tastfully decorated with amazing bathroom breakfast is excellent, and the hotel restaurant is also excellent but pricy. sweeming pool is very small and not that great. the bar served average fruit shakes (didn't try the food there) on the downside, it was very loud at nights from bars/clubs.

Good North Chaweng location out of the fray but still fun at night.

The bed was a bit too firm. I slept well despite that but wish it had been different.

Good location with many restaurants and shops nearby. Good friendly staff... nice people. I found the room to be good value for the cost. Lots of "mood" lighting in the room, very clean and all seem to have a balcony. Really nice bath room with candle burning on arrival.... and turn down service with treats! Not much view but just steps to the beach. Beach bar and pool with loungers and towels. The swimming was nice both in the pool and the sea. Not cheap at the price but I wasn't diappointed. I enjoyed my stay. About 15 minuets to the airport.

Friendly and helpfull staff. Nice hotel.

too many sellers on the beach.

A nice 4 night stay at the hotel left me with the impression of a well run hotel, where the staff is doing all they can to make the stay a success. It was located perfectly on the northpart of Chaweng beach. very close to all markets and shops, but still at the beach. The water was acceptable, even though not entirely clear. There was some noise from the beach bars in the area, but on the other hand you also apprciate their proximity when you hit home at night :-) A very nice Hotel, that I can highly recommend.

Restaurant Tip : Go for the smaller restaurants south on the street. Order seafood as it is best value for money. Avoid the Red Snapper next door. The prices are way to high, and the food is medium at best. Was very dissapointed by their Surf and Turf dish.

close to action; staff; nightly entertainment

sea was more of a lagoon with sludgy bottom; noise from neighbouring properties; declaration of extra costs; food could be better

We stayed at the Dara Samui for 5 nights in September 2009. The hotel site is perhaps 20-25m wide but very deep (100m plus?). Consequently quite a lot of guests on a small width of beach - thankfully we didn't use much. The hotel is at the north end of Chaweng beach which means it borders a kind of lagoon instead of open sea. The consequence of this is that the sea bottom is a bit slimy, and not so clean along the shoreline (compared with the excellent south part of the beach). We had one of four ‘Dara Villas’ which are located to the front of the property. I selected this a) because of the size and b) because it was away from what i thought would be the noisy front. Mistake! The noise from the beach on adjoining properties (Al’s?) was horrendous! The beat of the music was shaking the cutlery in our coffee cups at 2am in the morning. We had breakfast as part of the package and was cooked to order – but only just acceptable quality. So unhappy was I with the cooked breakfast that I limited myself to cornflakes for the last two days. The hotel is right in amongst the action – and ok if that’s what you want.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Football mini-golf on way to Big Buddha - good fun and not bad value

Great location Good restaraunt

Mosquitos on beach at night

A very nice place, off season the rate was quite low. The rooms were spacious. The staff did not hastle my Thai fiancee like some places do. The breakfest being available until 1400 meant that you do not have to rush out of the room in the morning. The location was great, walking distance to the night clubs but far enough away that it was quiet. I will definately stay here again next time I am in Koh Samui.

Restaurant Tip : Bring bug spray if you dine on the beach at night
