Koh Samui is a very expensive place to stay. Iyara is one of the cheapest hotel located right on Chaweng beach that I could find. Staying at Iyara was nothing special but it was okay. This hotel is very convinient and I could walk down to Chaweng beach within 5mins.
close to main area of Chaweng Beach
Guest relation service was poor. Staff needs to be trained more.
Does what it says

The Iyara is a very nice, clean, modern hotel in a nice part of Chaweng Beach. It is quiet enough, yet easy walking distance to the busy and noisy part of town.
The breakfast is lovely and is served at the beach side restaurant. The spa there is also very good and not overpriced like many other hotels.
Very clean, excellent location and good value.
Showers are poorly designed but thats no a real problem.
Faulty Towers...

The hotel in itself is a decent holiday resort, but some of the service is a little bit off and at arrival you get a sermon on what you cant do - you are a guest not a prisoner. The location is behind the reef at Chaweng Bay and the water in the ocaen is a little murky. If you would like to bathe in the sea you should choose a location further south.
Nice rooms and beatiful interior/exterior.
The location is a little off. A lot of the restaurant staff does not understand anything...everything you order is wrong.

I had a very nice stay at Iyara Beach hotel. The location was good, the staff very friendly and helpful and the rooms well clean.
Very nice location also, nice white sand beach, good thai dancing buffet on Thursdays. I would highly recommend it for both couples (nice excursions to be done) and singles (lots of great nightlife around).
I look forward to getting there soon.
- Very friendly and helpful staff
- Nice service (i.e. nice cocktail by the pool :-)
- Good location
- Clean
- Prices of laundry, bar+restaurant very reasonable
Swimming pool water a bit too warm. Should be maintained at max 24-25 degrees. I know this requires some work, however, it would be more pleasant
- Nightlife Tip : Single guys, just a tip. Chaweng is pretty safe and you should not have any troubles. Just be a bit sensible. Keep valuables in your safe and just take the money you need. I also recommend you take a motorbike taxi to go home late at night if you want to avoid being harassed by ladyboys who could be very tricky and steal all your valuables whithout you noticing it, especially if you are drunk.
Poor service, nice area

Management is not flexible to accommodate our requests during our honeymoon.
- Travel tip : Snorkle and kayak on the beach right in front of the hotel. We did it on our last day and we wish that we have done it a lot sooner.
Good Location close to the action

A bit far from the actual strip but a cheap tuk tuk is the way to go.
- Restaurant Tip : Take a tuk tuk and save yourself the trouble of going past a 100000 restaurants serving steak and pizza and pasta. When in Thailand eat Thai food.
Fantastic hotel and location!

The rooms may seem expensive but all worth it. You won't get anything like this in Australia for the price you pay here.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Check out the waterfall. Take tours to other nearby islands and go snorkeling or diving.
