Choengmon
Choengmon is on Samui’s north coast on a headland that juts out between Chaweng and Bo Phut. It boasts a series of white-sand beaches and a collection of bays. Hotels in Choengmon enjoy tranquility, being located away from Chaweng and Big Buddha beaches.
The most popular attraction on this part of the island is Wat Nuan Naram, a new Buddhist temple in Plai Laem Village. There’s a cultural center and attractive lake on the grounds. Further inland are Jungle Minigolf and a few other touristy attractions.
Few backpackers or party-goers venture here, so the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed at all hours. The beaches of Choegmon are the main attraction, and tourists can join a range of water sports or even walk to Fan Noi islet at low tide. Scuba diving is a popular pastime, with facilities to outfit seasoned divers or certify first-timers.
Accommodation in Choengmon includes several exclusive resorts with their own slice of white sand. Unlike Chaweng, the beaches of Choengmon don’t see that many visitors, so they’re perfect for sunbathing and pure relaxation. Facilities including deck chairs are reserved for hotel guests.
Hotels and resorts in Choengmon operate their own restaurants and night clubs. Most of these places promote a distinct international atmosphere, and diners won’t find many food stalls or 'mom and pop' Thai restaurants in this area. On the other hand, Thai dance is featured on evening stages at many resorts in Choengmon.
