Location, attention to detail, overall very friendly staff although there are a few excepted and the resort is very well maintained.

Not enogh beach towels, always have to "fight" for one. Beach staff made it a "big effort" to make it available as they had to get the towels from housekeeping. Breakfast was pretty good, but the staff is less helpful requires a lot of prompting for clearing plates and coffee (sometimes very diluted).

To our pleasant surprise the resort has organised a birthday cake for our 4 y.o. and that gave us the warm and fuzzy feeling. The Rai Ra Spa was also special and well trained staff although it is on the expensive side. The house keeping team is slightly inconsistent, eg. we got our bed turned at night whilst we stayed in Junior Suite but not when we upgraded to Royal Suite.

Nightlife Tip : head down the Ark Bar via the beach instead of the main road, awesome beach side dining facilities along the way. Pick one, BBQ seafood or traditional dishes and enjoy

Well maintained, courteous and friendly staff (alomost all), awesome location.

Beach towels, should I say lack of. Have to get down to the beach or pool earlier to have a beach towel. The property is on the smaller side, long and narrow from main road to the beach.

During our stay, we were most impressed by the housekeeping as well as the public relation teams. They organised a surprise birthday cake for my four year-old son. We thought it was a nice touch. We stayed in the Junior suite for 4 nights and Royal suite for 3 nights, both rooms were superb. When we moved into the Royal suite we were initially given a non-adjoining outdoor jacuzzi or "spa" and day bed (a flight of stairs below) which meant we were not able to keep an eye on the little one in the jacuzzi. They front desk quickly rectified it and provided an adjoining facilities. Good work! the property is pefectly located at the start of the quieter end of Chaweng beach, but very accessible to the busy and action packed part of Chaweng as well for those into the party mood.

rooms, spa, complimentary things, beachbads, breakfast

sea is not deep enough to swim, seller on the beach, pool bar service

Muang Samui Spa resort was fantastic - beatiful room with balcony and jacuzzi was really nice. Besides, we've got complimetnary dinner and spa package for hotel's restaurant and spa for two of us. Also they bring us one day a complimentary bottle of wine and another - a cake for honeymooners. The breakfast was very good and has changed every day. The hotel is close to everything in Chaweng - nice restaurants located on the beach. One day we took a car and saw all the island by ourselwes. Higly recommended. Don't like the beach itself - a lot of people selling things - i thing hotel can do smth to protect it's guest from that. And the sea in not so nice - not deep, with seaweeds and stoned. So it's hard to swim, but you can ask for free kayak. Also at the swimming pool if you want to order a drink you have to go to the bar - no waiter is looking if you need smth. But I think it's one of the best hotels on Chaweng.

Shopping Tip : There is a nice tailor just near the hotel - next to the Island resort - I tailored two silk dresses that fittel me ideally for about 100 euro.

1. location is inevitable 2. spacious room with appropriate settings, from color to texture 3. they upgrade my room to the royal suite - a MUST experience for couples. 4. helpful staff at the entrance - for moving and return my bike 5. The Rai Ra Spa is gorgeous

Cons - 1. front desk staffs sometimes are not as helpful - they miss my booking of shuttle to airport, not understand well of my questions for the airlines about the return tickets and baggage arrangement. 2. some restaurant staffs and staffs on the beach are not as polite and welcome as expected, especailly when we ask for towels. 3. breakfast is under par. 4. very limited choice of dvd movies

Almost perfect resort for couples or Samui 1st-timers. Location is one of the most important variables for visitors, especially for venue like Samui which promise to offer relaxation and perfect escape. Muang Samui is located at the heart of Chaweng - right at the junction of main streets. Exceptional convenience for travellers with rented vehicles. All rooms are spacious with appropriate settings, from color to texture. The Royal suite is phenomenal. Our block is located close to the main entrance but far from the pool and the beach, which are the integral parts of visiting Samui. In general their staffs are helpful but not all of them. Very good are those at the entrance, whom help me to move my bike when they are blocked, even help me to return my bike to the bike company (and get my passport back of course!) since Songkran fever is overwhelming - a big happy surprise!! However service on the beach is not at their best. As a return customer of their resort, I expect the same, if not better, level of service compare to the last visit few years before. They can do better definitely. Breakfast is under par as well - boring and very limited choices. Great beach.

Restaurant Tip : Chaweng will wait - a great value-for-money restaurant. Song Kran festival is a great time to visit too.

Welcoming staff, excellent service throughout, excellent room cleaning staff, excellent room layout. Lovely pool. Excellent Staff. Good internet access. Room bar well stocked and reasonably proced.

Pool and beach side staff not very friendly and tended to come to you only when it suited. There seemed to be no person of management role in operation at the pool or the beach deck chairs. On three occasions, we had to wait for some time in order to get beach towels due to the staff lacking any sort of exertion. Also, the coffee at breakfast was not the best, and was almost undrinkable on one morning. We felt that on this particular morning the girl serving us just couldn;t be bothered to make new coffee and merely gave us the remains of a pot that had been brewed a few hours earlier. Also, the beach was not very nice as the water level barely ever went above 3 feet in depth. Swimming in the sea was therefore impossible, and the sea was always extremely hot so not very comfortable.

The Muang Samui marketed itself as being a "Luxury" resort which clearly it was not in our view. It was an excellent four star hotel, but due to the narrow width of it, and the fact that it did not have a private beach, we would not consider it luxury. The restaurant was not that nice either, although their sister restaurant across the road was quite nice. Overall, we were very happy with our stay here and were treated excellently by the majority of the staff. I would recommend that the hotel management take note of my point regarding the pool/beachside staff. The Hotel is ideally situated if you want to be close to the shops/clubs/bars, but this was our Honeymoon, so all we wanted was peace and quite. We look forward to returning here again for a more action packed holiday.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Very close to plenty of pubs and restaurants of all types. We went to a very funny and extremely entertaining drag show ac cross the road one night. Overall, plenty to do and see at this end of Chaweng Beach.

Location in relation to beach and town centre yet still a tranquil oasis retreat. Rooms superb. Great Reastaurant.

The need to charge "extras" onto the bill such as internet access and safety deposit box.

We wanted somewhere that was close to the nightlife of Chaweng , on the beach yet still offered a retreat from the hustle and bustle, and we found it at Muang Samui. The room we had was a Junior Poolside Suite and it was perfect for our needs, particuarly as it was on the first floor. We possibly wouldn't have liked the ground floor so much as it would have not been quite so private with people walking by. The resort is quite bijou but this is not apparent due to pleanty of greenery shielding the buildings from one another, and once inside, the rooms themselves are extremely spacious and the thai wood decor is executed perfectly. The breakfast is in the seafront restaurant and a couple of steps further on is their own residents beach with sunloungers. Again, although limited in size it did not present a problem during our visit and I noted other hotels with less "depth" of beach available. One particular highlight was the seafood restaurant over the road owned by the hotel (and can be charged to your room) - best in town. The spa facilities were great, if a little pricey, although we loved the double bath, steam , massage for couples. My one gripe was the continued attempts to charge for minor "extras" such as the safey deposit bix in the room. I cannot remember the last time I was asked to pay for a safety deposit box in the room and most hotels offer free internet. Apart from that everything else was superb and we are glad we chose this resort.

Nice and small which is conveniently centrally located. Excellent rooms!

Too small, need more activities.

The service is average, wasn't particularly impressed by the breakfast. The rooms are great. They have a nice beach and pool area. However, there isn't really anything for the kids. The resort is right in the market, and getting around is very easy. I am not sure if I would be back as I am used to larger resorts with lots of activities. I was very unhappy that they picked a day during our stay to do pest control as we had 2 small kids. Apparently this is done monthly.

Restaurant Tip : Try their seafood restaurant!

I recommend you to stay in this resort, because this is one of the most beautiful places I've been to. The rooms are amazing and so do the pool, breakfast and the beach. The resort is in a great location in the northern part of the Chaweng beach - quiet, but close to everything.

Restaurant Tip : The two restaurants of the resort are great!

Very helpful and friendly staff, rooms immaculate, well presented and clean, restaurant good for breakfast and lunch, setting was perfect, very quiet despite location, hotel pick up from airport faultless

none i could think of other than food is blander version of thai food - be good if it was more authentic - i.e. "more spicy"!!

The Muang Samui Spa Resort was the perfect place for us after a hectic week in Singapore visiting friends and going to the GP. From the moment we arrived we were treated exceedingly well - all the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is perfect - could get away from it all but the action wasn't too far away. Suites are massive and have all that you need in them. Beachside is great - with enough loungers, towels etc for everyone. Can't wait to go back! Restaurant to recommend: Eat Sense! Food / service excellent.

Restaurant Tip : Eat Sense is a great place to go to eat excellent food!

Beautiful to the little details. Great location. Superior food (both breakfast and dinner). Large and lovely pool with water fall. Large room, mine had a large spa tub and the freeform shower

Not many, the door to the rest room was slotted wood so someone in the main room could see your legs when you sit on the toilet. That might bother some people.

This is one of the places that once you go you will want to go back again and again. The beach side where you can have dinner right on the beach, or massage is so peaceful and beautiful. The front side has lots of little and medium sized shops. The rooms are very large and have a lot of nice little things ... too many to describe but include, window sofa, fruit and flowers, candles brought in each evening. It is hard to imagine a more romantic spot

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The spa like all hotel spas are more expensive that the free standing ones. But right on the beach are open air massage/spas and there are 2 very nice (better than your normal "foot massages" spas) for very cheap just to the right and across the street as you exit the hotel.
