The hotel is like the hidden gem in Lamai area. It is located in a very quiet area. You can still experience pristine nature of the island; I have seen and heard a lot of shore birds. The staffs were super friendly, they treated me very well even I'm Thai. Breakfasts were fantastic; simple but great. Here was the first hotel in Thailand to serve seedless water melon I have ever seen!!! Thank you guys for all those lovely smiles and warm welcome. I leaved my heart there :)

It's the best place to stay for a relax vacation. The location is quite remote so the beach is clean and far from noise. The sea is very shallow so don't expect to swim there. But the hotel has a kayak that free to use for the hotel guest. The swimming pool is just beside the beach. great place to sunbath and relax. The breakfast is great and the restaurant staff are very friendly.
The hotel is far from the city, but we can rent a motorbike from the hotel 200 THB for 24 hours. really good deal.
Free wi-fi everywhere in the hotel area is a great benefit!

I loved the Palm Coco Mantra and would stay there again. The sea view villas were good value for money, the staff were friendly and helpful and I had everything I needed. I liked the quiet location at the end of Lamai beach and the food and massages were very good.

The hotel overlooks a beach were the water is only ever 2ft deep.
You can not swim.
You can not snorkel.
There are no beach activities or restaurants. The hotel is isolated with 2 others on a peninsular.
The food was very bad and several other guests were also suffering from a bad stomach.

Okay, here we go. Now, I'll just say the good things first. The staff are friendly, although they could be more knowledgeable about the island, and did help out as best they could. The breakfast is reasonable, although they do tend to let flys get onto the food by not covering it, the rooms are comfy and there is free internet in the lobby. Oh, scooters are cheap to rent too.
I'll try and be kind with this part. This IS NOT A 4 STAR hotel! No chance. It's 2.5 starts, 3 at a push. The grounds could be kept better, no one wants to sit in the beach chairs as the staff don't take care of that area, the beach is a mess and most importantly, the ocean is too rocky to swim in. When you go on vacation to the beach you are there to use the beach. I think most people would agree. You CANNOT swim here. It's shallow (the tide does not come in as it's in a cove) and there is coral and rocks everywhere. Your kids would be in danger and you'd just be frustrated. The entire Lamai beach area is dirty and rocky.
Actually, just skip Samui and hit Phangan or Koh Chang instead.
