Superb pool villas........... Big villa pools. Hotel staff is the best I have ever seen. Mandara SPA is worth a visit.

Far from Chaweng Beach and Night life.

I was there on honeymoon. It is a paradise for honeymooners. Superb pool villas. All villas have open bathrooms, day beds, LCD, DVD players...... The food and the resturants are really good. For dinner get a table by the pool (they put a table inside the pool, so u have your feet in water while having dinner). The SPA is a must visit, though pricey but worth the luxury. The breakfast spread is limited but tasty. I would recomend this resort to every one, its a must visit.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Go to a trip to National Marine park instead of Koh Tao.

Beautiful hotel. Very friendly service. Excellent facilities. Wonderful food.

Spa is expensive (London prices).

We stayed for our honeymoon and from beginning to end the service and friendliness was amazing. We felt we were leaving a family by the end. The room, facilities etc are all of a very high standard and clean. The restaurant is also excellent with very good a la a carte menu and wonderful sea views.

Nice Rooms, good restaurant, friendly staff, quiet and relaxing

Expensive spa and outside bathroom.

My wife and I had a relaxing 3 night stay at this hotel in April. Only about 15 minutes drive from the airport so once you've arrived check-in is seamless procedure. We stayed in an upstairs Deluxe Balcony room which overlooks a pleasant garden. The balcony is large and comfortable to relax on the big day bed. The Garden pool villas are in the room below but there is complete privacy as the upstairs rooms do not over look them. As a novelty pool villas are fun but unless you intend to just stay in the hotel you probably wont use the pool as much as you think. If you want a private pool I think the Sala pool villas look the best and are also nearer the restaurant. The outside bathrooms are a big feature and a breeding ground for mosquitos, so bring some spray.

Travel tip : Booking the car from the hotel is no more expensive than getting a taxi and saves needing to haggle over the price. Get out in the evening to Chaweng of Fisherman's village for a nice meal out. You can also hire small motorbikes just down the road from the hotel but be carefull if you are not used to them as Samui has many tourists having accidents on them every year.

This is a great place for a special holiday. We went for the Garden Pool Villa option and we're glad we did, the private pool was such fun. The room was very special, and the semi outdoor bathroom (very private) was great. Service was lovely, the beach was fine. I thought the Thai food in the restaurant was a bit of a watered down version of the real thing, nevertheless the breakfast was good. A lovely place to stay for a truly memorable holiday.

The hotel is a lovely property, with a mix of a villa style and old colonial mansions. The gardens are peaceful and the infinity pools are lovely with the beach adjacent. This is one of the quietest corners of Samui. THe rooms are very comfortable and the outdoor say beds on large verandas are a lovely spot to relax on a hot day. The restaurant next to the pool and beach was very pleasant and the food great! Only one negative - smokers are allowed to sit among other guests and there is ,as yet, no separate smoking area for them. The staff were very friendly.

When one drives in the reception area is not clearly marked though it is obviously right at the entrance, but because the hotel layout is not traditional, a sign pointing to reception would be helpful.

We stayed here in March/April and enjoyed our stay very much. A little bit of quiet paradise in a rather busy island, the resort is a great place for a couple who want a romantic hideaway as well as quite open to families as well. We had an upstairs garden view room which was very pleasant and the airconditioning is excellent. Next time I would like to stay in a pool villa.

Pool, smoothies at the beach. Service generally very good.

Construction noise from hotel next door.

There was some construction work going on near the hotel (staff said there is a hotel being built next door) not sure how long this goes on for but it did make it quite noisy. I would ask management about this before going. Generally though the hotel was very good, I would recommend for romantic hideaway. Beach was quiet, rooms were nice. Probably better value on the island, but still a nice place.

Great location, beautiful beaches, good food, private pool is a must. Service is good, everybody very helpful. Car service to and from airport was great. Spa was excellent

Mosquitoes are a problem. We coould not use the pool at night due to mosquitoes. Need to remove one of the lamps from the room to make more room on the limited counter space.

A great resort, romantic, isolated and away from everything. Food was good, room service was very good. We did not have any problems. We took a tour of the island using the SALA vehicle, it was great (4 hours is enough), The Spa was very good and relaxing. Outdoor shower is different, toilet is also outside, again different but easy to adjust to. Rented jet ski from vendor on the beach, had a great time. Many other places to eat , but we did not feel the need to go to out. Overall a great place except for the mosquitoes. Would consider visiting again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Go to Koh Tao for the day, great snorkeling. Book your trip on the agency next door to the hotel on th beach.

We stayed at the Sala Samui for 5 nights and loved it so much we extended to 8. Everybody is really friendly and cannot do enough to help you. You are greeted with a hello from every single member of staff. The service is spot on here. Rooms and resort totally gorgeous. Don't think twice about booking here, just go ! Its amazing.

Restaurant Tip : Eat out to ave money - Go to Jonno's just outside the hotel. Hes a top guy, and does lots of English food. Also visit Charlie Chaplain just a 2 min walk down the road for fantastic Thai food.

Great beach front location Extremely clean and tidy Superb staff Excellent facilities Great place to chillout and wind down Sala Pool Villas are superb

None that comes to mind

Fantastic hotel and location. This was our second time at this hotel as we enjoyed it so much the first time round and the standards are still as high. We opted to stay in a Sala Pool Villa and this is a truely great experience. The rooms are spacious and the benefit of having your own plunge pool in total privacy is really the selling point. In room facilities are excellent. These include LCD TV, CD player, DVD player for which DVD's can be borrowed from the Sala library and IPOD/MP3 connectivity. Restaurant is set adjacent to the beach and has a good menu. Additionaly, there are several alternative choices along the beach serving good Thai and Western food. Overall, we booked to come back because we had an amazing time three years ago and I am pleased to say that we were not disappointed. This is a fantastic place to relax and wind down in luxury while having the choice of nearby Chaweng and other bars/restaurnts. Needless to say, we will be returning again in the future.

Restaurant Tip : Plenty of other restaurants walking distance along the beach

staff, location, villas

next to a construction site

We had a fantastic stay for 7 nights at the Sala Samui. Located in a small village, close to other resorts but at a secluded end of a stunning bay. The staff are welcoming, efficient and an absolute delight - they certainly made our stay memorable. There is building work next door but this is away from all rooms and facilities I heard no noise but did see it from the beach. The villas are spacious, well appointed and top end luxury.

Restaurant Tip : Wouldn't recommend dining on the rocks at the nearby six senses resort - way over priced with an average food presentation.

Privacy - especially our private plunge pool Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff Beach is quite good and not too busy Great Happy Hour In-house Spa Rooms well fitted out

A little bit annoying to have to pay for taxis and shuttle buses to go anywhere - taxis are not cheap Despite calling 2 days in advance with flight details, no one came to the airport to pick us up. The mosquitoes were a little annoying but you expect that in the tropics and the hotel does provide coils.

Had the most wonderful and relaxing holiday I didn't want to leave. I would suggest to get one of the rooms with the private plunge pools - it was fantastic and we spent most of our time there rather than the beach. The daily breakfast was great and the staff couldn't do enough for you. The Spa had some great specials while we were there and they were really good value for money - although without the specials it was a bit pricey. The daily Happy Hour (half price drinks) was well worth it and I was surprised there were so few guests there each day. The beach is quite nice and much quieter than Chaweng. The hotel offers a shuttle bus into Chaweng with was really convenient. Overall, a great place to stay - would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

Hotel Feature Tip : Get a room with a plunge pool - well worth the additional cost.

nice hotel private pool helpful staff really quite

out of the way food at restaurant is so so

Sala Samui is a really nice hotel to stay. it is in a quite area of samui so perfect for honeymooners and couples. the only down side is taxis are quite expensive in samui. but staying in a nice resort means there is a lesser need to go to town everyday. the staff are really helpful and polite. the garden pool villa is beautiful. the private swimming pool is of course the best selling point. well worth the price.

The staff was delightfully friendly and responsive. The food was consistently spectacular (breakfast, lunch, dinner) - and the pool villas were a dream come true!

N/A

We had a spectacular stay at the SALA. It was a dream luxury resort and the pool villas are ultra hip and awesome. We were upgraded from a deluxe balcony - and who can argue with your own pool!! The only thing we regret about our stay was the weather (Dec 27 - Jan 3), but we can't blame SALA for that :) We would absolutely recommend SALA for any couple wanting a romantic getaway in Thailand...

Restaurant Tip : If you are considering eating at neighboring resort Tongsai Bay for dinner, don't try to walk...take a car instead. And personally, I would stick with SALA, it's better Thai food...
