We spend the last few days of our holiday here and it was very relaxing. This is a very nice resort! Friendly people, good pool, good food!

Nightlife Tip : If you want a very special restaurant experience, go to "dining on the rocks"! Excellent food! Not cheap but a real experience worth the money.

almost everything

beach not so good.

Great hotel and service overall. Best for couples. Alot more spread out than I expected! -- upside is you get an extra 10 minutes of exercise per day up and down those stairs to one restaurant/ lobby. Amazing rooms. Great breakfast buffet---fresh fruit and a juicer for great veggie juice too! My favorite was the carrot , apple and ginger juice. Nice staff, very accomodating. Mind the small broken shells-- stuck in my feet so wear sandals. very minor though, the great pools make up for lack of an ideal beach.

The fruits selection for breakfast was amazing & the two ladies in charge of that selection were adorable

Problems with the housekeeping staff. Also the general attitude of the staff most of whom had chips on their shoulders

Reading the amazing reviews on Tirpadvisor my wife & I were very happy to zero in on Tongsai Bay for a 5 day romantic holiday. I must say that by the end of it we felt absolutely let down & utterly disappointed. Rooms : Very average in terms of ambience, layout design & feel. Have seen much much better. We actually had paid for the cottage & yet when we saw the Oceanfront rooms we "downgraded" ourself so as to be able to have the better view as well as be more accessible to the common areas of the hotel. Service : Maybe terrible would be a harsh term but miserable would not be utterly out of sync. Barring Mr.Kiat from the front desk who was wonderful, the two delightful ladies at the fruits counter on the breakfast area in the mornings & a handful of others by & large the service was not in line with the warm hospitality that is so much the enduring hallmark of the whole of Thailand. A few examples to elucidate, We parked ourselves next to the swimming pool and waited forever to catch somebody's attention to place our order for drinks. When someone did finally show up we asked for 1 bottle of water and I specifically asked for a non-chilled/room temperature coconut. The water arrived after 15 minutes and 10 minutes after that we were served a CHILLED coconut. NOT DONE SIR. First morning we left for breakfast & returned to the room to find it just as we had left it. I just brushed it off & put a "please clean my room" sign outside. We returned from our swim & frolicking to discover that the room had yet not been done. Miffed I caught the attention of a housekeeping staff & politely pointed to the sign dangling on the door & requested him to do the needful. We left for lunch went to the city & returned at 5 in the evening & to our horror found the room just as we had left it in the morning. A call to the manager & much ranting later our room finally got serviced. This one is amazing, we had ordered a mango from room service the day we had arrived. It was not ni

Travel tip : The Spa at SIx Senses is outstanding. Highly recommended. Also a must do in Koh Samui is hiring your own bike as soon as you land. Not only will it give you mobility & freedom but it will also save you lot of money.

the staff are so friendly - they cannot do enough for you and make you feel so special. The private beach is a blessing - secluded and peaceful

the hotel is about 22 years old now so it looks a little tired in places however because the staff and service are so wonderful its barely noticable

I cannot recomment the Tongsai Bay enough. From the moment we arrived to the day we left the service was first class. The staff make this place extra special- they are helpful, gracious and extremely friendly - nothing is too much trouble. The hotel facilities are very good - luring you into a relaxing wonderful holiday

Restaurant Tip : Olivios restaurant and Ad Hoc restaurant will collect and return you to the hotel free of charge - food is great at each restaurant. A trip to fishermans village in Bo Phut is also worthwhile

Amazing private beach. Preserved the amazing landscape. You feel very at nature here. The view is the best. Amazing rooms - very large, private balcony with tub. Great pool restaurant. Free internet. Great service.

Our room was further up the hill and a longer walk (but worth it for the view). Gym needs updating.

We came here for our honeymoon and it could not be more romantic. Our room wasa very large with an outdoor tube overlooking an amazing view. They really did a fantastic job of building the resort without destroying the feel of being in nature. The landscaping was amazing. The bed was very comfortable. Loved the unique touch of the netting surrounding the bed. Service was fast and friendly. Loved the pool restuarant - great food. We didnt love Chef Chom's restaurant. It gets alot of reviews but we were surprised that the food wasnt very good and it was very expensive. The pool was beautiful and 24 hrs. The beach was secluded but the sand is not powder (small pebbles which isnt very comfortable). But the pool loungers were cushioned and very comfortable. Service around the pool was fantastic. They give you a flag to wave when you want a drink. Loved how they gave you free water everywhere. The free champagne was a nice touch too. The only cons are the gym definately needs updating, and some of the rooms are a hike up alot of stairs. Of all the places we went to, this was truly the most romantic. Thank you for a fantastic honymoon!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Visit the waterfalls and take an elephant trek. Stay away from the circus shows.

amazing staff, fantastic location in gorgeous private bay.

beach is not soft sand.

We spent a long weekend at the Tongsai Bay and did not want to leave. It was an amazing, completely relaxing and wonderful weekend, and we would highly recommend this hotel. The best thing about the Tongsai Bay is the staff. We have traveled quite a bit in Asia, and without question the staff at the Tongsai Bay were the nicest, warmest and most helpful of any place we have been. Every single person we encountered was genuinely friendly and wanted to help with any of our needs. In many southeast asian hotels, the staff are all smiles but completely clueless and basically useless. Not so at the Tongsai Bay! The staff all speak English and are exceptionally well trained. From the front desk, to the restaurant, to the room staff, to the pool and beach guys, the staff made our stay truly memorable. The second best thing about the Tongsai Bay is its location. Being situated on a private bay is priceless. No one is trying to sell you anything on the beach, the whole place is very private, quiet and relaxing. The views are amazing. We only had a beach front suite, not one of the more luxurious cottages or villas. But both our room and our view were wonderful. The room was very large as was the balcony. The bath tub on the balcony was definitely fun. We really appreciated the personal extra touches, like treats left in the room at turndown, the fact that unlimited drinking water is provided, the fact that non-motorized water sports are free (they will even give you free sailing and windsurfing lessons). We also liked the common room with pool table and very large selection of DVDs to borrow and watch in your room. The internet cafe provides free internet. After staying at so many hotels where you feel as if they're doing their best to rip you off by charging you for every single small thing, the Tongsai Bay was so refreshing. We only left the hotel once during our long weekend stay, to go to Bophut for dinner. The rest of the time, we just did not want

Buffet breakfast, spa, view

Rough beach sand, insects.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights for our honeymoon in a Grand Villa. The hotel was beautiful and the food was phenominal. We really enjoyed eating the buffet breakfast....everything was so fresh. The bistro by the pool served great food as well. The food at the Butler's restraunt was just so-so. The view from the room was amazing. We never did sleep on the outdoor bed for fear of bugs (which we found in the room...however, I imagine this is quite common in this part of the world). The spa was amazing for the price...much cheaper and much higher quality than you would expect to find in the U.S.

Secluded luxurious hotel great for couples.

The hotel is on a private beach which means that to eat outside of the hotel you need to catch a taxi. Samui taxi drivers refuse to use the meter and trips out of the hotel can be quite expensive and leave a sour taste in your mouth.

Tongsai Bay is a perfect hotel for couples looking for a luxurious romantic getaway. We stayed in a Beachfront Suite which is the lowest class of room. Our room was enormous with bedroom, living area and a bathroom that was bigger than the entire room that we had at the Amari Palm Beach Resort in Chaweng (where we stayed earlier in our trip). Our balcony had a great view out across the pool to the beach and the sea. It had two sun beds, a table and chairs and a bath where you can relax staring out across the bay. I recommend requesting a room on the top floor as the sun beams onto these balconies allowing you to sunbathe on your balcony in the morning. The swimming pool is enormous and the beach boys regularly bring you iced water (much needed in Samui's searing heat). The hotel is set on its own private beach but is close enough to the other beaches to make it easy to get out in the evenings (provided you don't mind bargaining with Samui's immoral taxi drivers to get home). The restaurant on the beach (Floyd's) serves up amazing food all day long at reasonable prices and is a very nice romantic restaurant in the evenings. There are two other restaurants but we didn't try them. The Grand Villas are absolutely incredible (we asked to see one out of nosiness) - they have the best views in the resort and have private infinity pools, enormous terraces with outdoor bed and bathtub. I will definitely be returning to the Tongsai Bay Resort.

Everything (although this depends on what you want)

Nothing (although this depends on what you want)

We had an absolutely perfect experience for our honeymoon in a wonderfully private seafront cottage. The Tongsai bay was truly a memorable place. You are so close to nature, with many species of plants, lizards, birds so close, yet many luxuries are at your fingertips. The decoration, architecture, furnishings were high quality and evidence of good taste. No glitz or bling here, all understated elegance and in harmony with nature. The beach is not super soft sand and the water gets deep quick and there are waves... But we actually liked the beach and having a private beach on Samui is priceless. You can hire a kayak for free and check out other beaches nearby. If it's rainy, you can hire a DVD or play pool in the common room but you'll probably be having a bath on your private patio. That was simply fabulous! Service is excellent. Food options are plentiful and actually really good. And try the spa!

Hotel Feature Tip : If it is your honeymoon or anniversary, let them know and they will send a complimentary bottle of wine to your room.

Swimming pool, and beach bar.

Very old fashioned, in need of a good renovation. I read fantastic reviews about this place, but I'm not sure I'll be back in a hurry.

This place gets rave reviews from many people, and I guess it's an Ok kind of place, but it just seemed a little worn out and like the staff were pretending that they worked in a 5-star hotel. It was always rated like Le Meridien, or Santiburi, but it just isn't. Too far to walk anywhere either with all the hills in the place. And the beach is super rocky too.

The service is top notch. We were well cared for at the restaurants and everywhere else on the resort. We liked the fact that it is a private beach and no vendors were there to hassle us. The pool is ok.

Although the room was renovated, I think only the bathroom and balcony were nice. The bath tub overlooking the beach is fabulous. Perfect place to relax in private. A little out of the way and expensive to get anywhere as you need to either rent a car or use the hotel taxi service. Taking a taxi back from anywhere costs more and they did not let us use the meter.

Pricey resort but wonderful views and good restaurants, pool area very quiet and beautiful, excellent service at the pool. Not so good location, need transport to go anywhere else. Not possible to wander along the beach to other resorts or restaurants/ bars. Will come back again.
