The hotel is 1 year old and it very nice to have and see that every thing is so new and so updated.
the staff r the best, the rooms r amazing. the hotel was quit empty which was very nice and quiet.the beach is nice and isolated, the pool is greart (and dont mind the stairs).
the hotel is the best for people who r looking to have quiet and not having people interrupting them at the beach. taking a tuk tuk or a taxi to chaweng center is about 50-200 baht, which is nothing and very easy. next time in samui will be definitely in Villa Lawana
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : rent a car for 550 baht a day and drive around the island.

The big bathtub is our most favourite features. It is just 5 minutes away from the airport and close to downtown.
The price does not include the breakfast.
The hotel decoration is very in Chinese style, very special and unique to find it in Thailand. All the staffs are very cheerful and always have a big smile on their faces. I like their quietness and privacy of each room. The big bathtub is definitely our favourite, very relaxing after the whole day of activities. On the other hand, we like their swimming pool. It has a spectacular view and must do is to have a sunbath. On the other hand, you must try their delicious food provided in SkyHug. The pan fried Foie Gras is unbelievable good. Their services and the warm greeting from their restaurant manager is one of the highlight. Villa Lawana gives us a lot of wonderful memories. Thank you!
Hotel Feature Tip : Big bathtub and seaview swimming pool.

Quiet location with brief access to chaweng beach. Nice and clean place. Well maintained propperty (new resort).
Housekeeping very competent and quick. Very friendly.
Beach is mediocre at best. Chaweng itself is better but with more people.
Quality and quantity of the food is not worth the price and does not meet the expectations that 4 stars would suggest.
In May 2009 there is minor construction noise from next property.
Wireless internet connection is very slow if avaliable at all. But there are 2 internet pc's free of charge in the library.
The beach itself is of minor quality and due to the rock bar about 100 meters off the beach the ground uf that lagoon is rather muddy. The sand on the beach is far from powderlike but besides that it's ok. But just ok, no better but also not worse. If it's important to you to swim in the ocean, you might want to choose some other place.
Kitchen in the restaurants and for the pool is overpriced for the quality and quantity of food provided. Staff disappears if manager's not on duty.
Only one restaurant (on the pool side) open but no bars and other restaurants visibly open during off season (May 2009).
No hotel information in the room (they say because it's a new resort). Also the sanitary area of the rooms are outdoor so you have to live with plenty of mosquitos and some bugs (not due to a dirty place, it's very clean, but due to the fact that it's an open space to the outside.
In May 2009 there is minor construction noise from next property. If you're very sensitive to noise, you might consider some other place. It looks like the construction work would go on for like some more months and I assume it won't be over before beginning of 2011 (but please consider that this is an assumption).
All together it's a nice place but for the overall experience i'd pay at max. US$ 120 per night per pool-villa (second smalles category) and not more like we did. At least not in the off season.
Restaurant Tip : Sixth Sense Hide Away go eating at "Dining on the Rocks". Molecular cuisine with absolute WOW-locationa and -experience. Just keep in mind that a menu per person including wine starts (5 courses including wine) at about 6'000 Bath. But it's worth every single Bath.
Or a bit less pricy is the Prego Italian restaurant oposite the Amari Hotel on Chaweng beach. Great service (they even know how to handle a bottle of red wine), excellent food and way above average selection of fine wine from around the world. All dinner for about 3'000 Bath per person including wine or 1'500 Bath per person without wine.
The best Long Island Ice Tea we got at Cafe Uno, a small, hut-like bar on the Chaweng Beach Road.
