If you want to mix relaxation and tourism in this part of Thailand, this hotel is the right place to stay; but you have to rent a car to share your day between the site (from 8 am to 2 or 3 pm) and the pool (till the night). With the hotel, a car with driver cost 2500 baht a day. But if you only wants to visit the ruins, stay in Sukhothai city (new or old).
- Restaurant Tip : We've spent a nice time at the restaurant. The only little bad thing: the singer with her pianist (a bit cheap).

This is a new hotel run by Bangkok Airways. The architecture is very nice but the service at this hotel was unbelievably bad. The staff were like high school students parachuted into their first jobs with no training or support. They were friendly and were trying hard, but no one seemed to know what was going on. When we were there it was during a soft opening period, so this may be the cause of many of the problems; however, no amount of staff training will change the fact that the location is terrible. There is no other reason to go to Sukhothai than to see the ancient capital and nearby ruins. The hotel, rather than being near the archeological sites, is on a boring strip of country road next to the airport, which is about 60 minutes drive to the old city. And at the time we visited, the hotel did not even have cars to drive people back and forth in! I hope for their sakes that they sort out these problems. There are a couple of very nice places in town, walking distance to the archeological sites. I would only stay at this hotel if the other nice hotels are all booked.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The ruins are magical at night, especially during Loey Krathong festival, but make sure you arrange a driver for the trip back at night because it can be difficult to find a car or tuk tuk.
