Location, ambience, staff courtesy.

Difficult to find the first time as highway signage not as good as could be. The jacuzzi bath is too big for the slow flow of water.

We booked the hotel based on the location plus the amenities. We could walk to the Old City and found an excellent restaurant and other items we wanted. Our room was very nice, the convenience of the historic park was important to us, and the friendliness of the staff was top notch. We would definitely stay here again.

Location is perfect if you want to visit the ruins and enjoy a relaxed time while in Sukothai. The service cannot be better, it is simply the best we have gotten in any other place ever. Wonderful people.

None

We enjoyed very much our stay at this hotel. The facilities are great, our room was beautiful, like taken out of a dream. They have a nice swimming pool where you can refresh yourself (it was very hot). The location is perfect if your interest is to see the ruins. It is right there. The hotel manager heard that I could not find any tamarind for sale in the little stores nearby, and he took the trouble to llok some for me the next morning at the market!! Finally, we wanted to go forward to Chiang Mai and the hotel crew was so nice to organize a private van (air conditioned) for my husband and me to take us to Chiang Mai and at a very very reasonable price. They also sent us some water and fruit for our way to Chiang Mai.

Beautiful rooms, lobby & pool. Nicest staff you could possibly hope for - very friendly & helpful. Really good, inexpensive restaurant. Very quiet.

Could be maintained better.

We had a great time at Tharaburi. Their website does not do justice to the hotel, it is so much nicer than we expected. Beautifully designed, fantastic staff. Small but lovely pool is exactly what you need after a hot day wandering around the ruins. We had a lovely time there.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : We found the ruins at Satchanalai (an hour away from Sukhothai) more interesting than the ones actually in Sukhothai.

Location is good, staff are very helpful and attentive.

Expensive wifi, rooms can be cold on cold winter nights (no heat like other hotels in Thailand), bathrooms are open air but bedrooms have a/c. No fitness center. One night I heard music from a nearby business just about all night long.

This is one of 3 nice hotels near the Sukhothai Historical Park. The others are Legendha and Le Charme. Other hotels are 10km (or more) away from the park in "New" Sukhothai town or even further out. I recommend staying at one of these 3 hotels so you can easily access the park. Also being outside of town isn't a problem as a little village of restaurants, internet cafes, ATMs, bicycle rental shops have grown up around the park entrance. The decor and ambience are excellent and give the hotel a resort feeling, however there is no fitness center. Location: walk out of resort, turn left walk 500m to main road, turn left walk 1 km to park entrance. As you get closer to park entrance you'll find more and more restaurants, best is "The Coffee Cup-Original". Several others have copied the restaurant e.g. "The Coffee Cup II", so be careful you go to the right one. Rent a bike for 50 baht per day, however if you want to see all of the park not just the famed central part, expect to bike 10-15 km (very few hills). If this is more than you're up to then rent a motor scooter, 200 baht for the day you want to see the outlying parts of the park. Biking just the central section would be less than 6km, it could also be easily walked. But renting a bike allows you to also go back and forth to your hotel--you can leave your bike overnight at the hotel.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Tourist rip off: taxi to Sukhothai Airport should be 300 baht but all taxis charge 300 baht per person! No avoiding this. Because of this you should consider flying into Phitsanalok airport, cheaper flights. Sukhothai Airport is 42km from old Sukhothai, Phitsanalok is somewhat further.

Great customer service by each and every person who worked at this resort - they simply couldn't have been nicer. Good food and we really enjoyed the free room service. Very charming and unique traditional Thai room - we loved the color palette of the walls and accessories. Nice, quiet, small pool area. Bike rental available. Free internet in the lobby (20 minutes at a time)!

This is kind of nit-picking, but if I had to make a suggestion, I would tell them to put fresh plants in the small pots in the bathroom wall nooks. It would have been much, much nicer!

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sukothai. We were rejuvenated, relaxed and very happy after our stay here. We enjoyed relaxing poolside and they had the best fruit smoothie drinks. The service was courteous and prompt. We loved our room and thought the bathroom was really very spa-like. The staff helped us with our rental bikes and gave good advice on visiting Sukothai.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Rent a bike from the hotel to go see the sites! Everything is pretty close by and it's so enjoyable.

Friendly, attentive staff Grand Deluxe Rooms worth the little extra cost Great Coffee in the morning Close to Historical Park

Mosquitos - but this is a tropical Thailand thing, not the resorts problem

We stayed here over a couple of nights (include NYE) - the first night was in a Deluxe Room (Most Thai hotels seem to have elaborate names for their standard entry-level rooms) - which was nice. We moved up to the Grand Deluxe room the following night which was far superior (the bathroom was fantastic) - definitely worth the little extra cost. The hotel is about a 10 min push-bike ride from the historical park - the staff will take you to a bike rental shop nearby where you can rent a bike for next to nothing. You can also leave the bike at the hotel when you leave and they arrange the return of it. Food in the hotel was good - great coffee in the morning. There's lots of great street food in the old town area too, including a local market.

Hotel Feature Tip : Definitely stay in the Grand Deluxe rooms over the Deluxe ones.

Good food, relaxing atmosphere, unusual room decor, bicycles available at a nominal rate for touring Sukhothai

Doors don't shut securely allowing mosquitos inside

A very pleasant stay at the Tharaburi Resort. Hotel staff were helpful and polite. The food was excellent and the open-air restaurant had a nice feel to it. Bicycles can be used to tour old Sukhothai.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Rent bicycles here for a spin around old Sukhothai

Boutique style with individuality and charm

The food is a let-down; be brave and try local eateries/shacks for the best authentic Thai food.

The Tharaburi Resort has very personalized service and all the staff are really friendly and helpful. It has a really peaceful atmosphere and there are approximately 13 rooms only (I think) and they are all unique with a mixture of Asian and contemporary style. During our stay, which was over Christmas, we experienced no problems (after asking for our room to be sprayed each night with bug repellant!) and definitely recommend this place as it is in the old town and therefore extremely easy to cycle around the Wats or even walk to see some of them.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : rent bicycles to see more of the Wats as they are spread out over quite a wide area

Size location and decor. Friendliness and helpfulness of all staff.

Water was not hot.

This small boutique hotel is an utter gem. It is located just outside the village and main entrance to the park and well within walking distance. However, for 50 baht a day you can rent a bicycle which is well worth it as you will otherwise be doing a lot of walking. Traffic is minimal so don't be afraid! Rooms were delightfully decorated and of a good size. Some back on to a pond so be careful of mossies. Meals in the small restaurant are good for value with good, filling breakfasts. Staff go out of their way to help, and being so small it makes for good interaction and communication. Good wi-fi access.

Hotel Feature Tip : Try and arrange transport to the hotel in advance. Our taxi from Phitsanulok cost 1000baht and the driver was none to sure of the location. Transport from the hotel can be arranged with hotel staff

Great, friendly helpful staff, including Khun Ron, Khun Glang, Khun Bantee, Khun Chef, , Khun P.K., Khun Lek and others Outstanding location with panoramic hilltop rooms, which is pretty unique for Thailand Very large, beautiful rooms with a great view Delicious restaurant with an extensive menu, I would come for the food alone if staying in Chiang Rai Many interesting cultural and outdoor activities in the area. Golf at Santiburi was great.

We are the very first guests at the resort, it is still finalizing many details, it should be close to 100% by January 1, 2009. The resort is about 40 minutes from Chiang Rai, if you want a quiet serene setting, this is the place, if you like more action, its a long drive to town.

My wife and I were the very first guests at the resort. As we drove up to the entrance there was still a fair amount of construction activity taking place. We were a little afraid of what we would find inside. We were very pleasantly surprised. We were met by very friendly and cordial staff, even by Thailand standards. The facility is first class. The lobby has extensive beautiful stone work, with a huge stone fireplace as the centerpiece. It was like Banff Springs hotel meets Thailand. We enjoyed a nice conversation, hot coffee and dessert in front of a roaring fire (its cool in the mountains in winter here) with Khun Ron, the GM of the resort. Khun P.K., our butler for the stay, took as past a beautiful pool, cabana, very large jacuzzi and through lush garden and much more of the generous stone work. I was impressed. Our room was huge, the bed huge, the bathroom huge, flat screen TV huge, the terrace over looking a green mountain valley, again huge. It was all well decorated and every detail was taken care of. We could have spent long hours staying in our room and on the terrace. While we didn't spend too much time in our room, we did enjoy a nice hour long Thai foot massage with Khun Pim and her assistant on the terrace, after playing golf at challenging but fun Santiburi golf club (shot 96 still had a great day). The restaurant was outstanding. I figured they would not be able to support such an outstanding variety of dishes, being their only guests the first night. Both nights they had were able to have exactly what we ordered and the dinners were outstanding. Khun Chef prepared delicious western food ( we had angus steak, grilled tiger prawns, minestrone, pizza, fresh baked bread, etc.) We live in Thailand so we passed on the Thai menu, but my guess is that it will be delicious as well. The resort is still work in progress.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : For the golfers, Santiburi is the best course, but Waterford is nice option as well.

Friendly small hotel. Situated near the historical city. Possible to rent a bike from the hotel. Very good food for reasonable rates.

Only the luxe rooms on the ground floor with garden view are advisable. In the evening and night impossible to sit on the room terrace because of a great number of insects. No internet connection from the room. Internet provide by the hotel is very slow.

Nice and small hotel with a personal atmosphere. Friendly employees. Sometimes misunderstanding because of the level of their English. The hotel is excellent situated near the historical city. The hotel provides bicycles for rent. Restaurant is very good and they realizes also individual wishes. Breakfast is simple but tasty. Swimming pool is disinfected with an O-zone system and very clean. Rooms are simple. In our opinion only the deluxe suites are reasonable. Hotel website doesn't shows the reality of a simple hotel. During low season it is possible to negotiate about the rates.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Visit the historical city on a bike.

Very well located for visiting the old city. Each room with different decoration. The pink junior suite is absolutely great.

The restaurant does not offer good thai food and Bfast was OK but not great. You can find better thai food in the old city.

Nice comfortable hotel in old Sukhothai with opened bathroom. We spent 2 nights at the Tharaburi and definetly recommend it to anyone looking for comfort at a reasonable price.

Staying at this intimate hotel was one of the highlights of our Thailand trip. From the moment we were greeted at check-in we felt at home. Our Grand Deluxe room, furnished in Chinese antique decor, was perfectly matched with the hotel's setting surrounding an artificial pond and tropical foliage. This was the ideal place to be when visiting Sukhothai.

I'm sure that the swimming pool would have been a valuable asset to the resort if it were properly maintained. But when we stayed there, the water was so green that the tiles on the bottom in the shallow end were not visible. Inexscusable.
