Very spacious. Rooms are large. Connected to the mall and location is excellent.

Rooms are a little outdated and worn

Stayed one night in Udon and had a very good experience. Staff is friendly and rooms are clean. Next to shopping mall so everything is at your convenience. Easy to get a tuk tuk and the breakfast is excellent with a large selection of dishes. All in all, I would highly reccommend this hotel to anyone visiting this city.

Restaurant Tip : The Chinese restaurant in the hotel is excellent.

Very attractive lobby and central atrium. Excellent service. Very close to shopping.

Room a little small. Bed very hard.

Udon Thani does not have a very high end hotel, but once the renovations are completed at the Chareonsri Grand (going to be Centara) it will stand out. For now, it is on par with the Ban Chiang - nice, but somewhat dated and in need of a fresh look. The entrance to the hotel is very impressive and the inner atrium eliminates the classic long closed hallways of most hotels. The service was excellent: when we arrived the TV was not working (bad cable) and after asking once, it was fixed right away. Didn't get a chance to use the pool or other facilities, but the breakfast was good and the restaurant was bright and open. On the down side, the room was much smaller than the one we had at the Ban Chiang and the bed was very hard, unlike the comfortable one at the Ban Chiang. I'm sure all this will change after the Centara fully renovates, but I would still recommend this hotel especially for its proximity to the Central Plaza mall.

Shopping Tip : Not much of a tip, but with the Central Plaza right next door, food and shopping are at your doorstep.

great location next to mall.... open lobby.... pleasant staff

the only area we had problems with was a change of ownership resulted in a breakdown of their link with Agoda but all was resolved without any issue in around 10 minutes.

I have visited friends staying in this hotel but this is my first stay. I enjoyed the experience and is great value for money. Because of the booking problem with Agoda my king bed request could not be met on the first night but they were very apologetic. Centrally located next to a shopping mall offers greater variety in eating establishments. The open lobby is spacious and inviting. I will stay at this hotel again.

Restaurant Tip : don't forget the option of the food court in the mall if you are on a tight budget

The best location for walking to great attractions, Staff is frendly and helpful, room is good value, great Italian resturant attached to hotel.

The hotel is dated and in need of some rehab. No internet in the room, but many internet cafes are a two minute walk away. Don't plan your taxi ride back to the Airport with the concierge, he asked for 400 Baht. Go to the street and get a taxi for 100 Baht.

The Charoensri Grand Royal Hotel Ubonthani is for sure the best hotel available in Ubon and and great value for the money. The rooms are clean, however they are old. My room had iron burns on the carpet. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The hotel is ideally located for evening walks to night clubs and two excellent night markets with all the tasty local dishes and items us forigners like to brouse. Attached to the hotel is a world class Italian resturant, if you like a break from the wonderful Thai cusine that is also avalible. All thought the hotel is a little aged, it offers great bang for the buck.

Nightlife Tip : Accross the street there is a nice resturant and night club and within a 5 minute walk there are at least fifty more. This place is great fun!

Design of the hotel is quite nice - it's large with a grand lobby and plenty of hotel staff to attend to you. Housekeeping and laundry service was excellent; gym was quite good.

Room service food quality was terrible; room service delivery time was the worst I've ever experienced in any hotel. Carpet and bed skirting were very old, probably at least 10 years and desperately need to be changed. No wifi available and only ONE computer available in the lobby for Internet access - totally unacceptable.

The outward design of the hotel is quite nice as is the somewhat expansive lobby. There are plenty of desk staff and bellhops and drivers around to open doors for you, carry your bags, etc. But when you get to your room, this is where the disappointment begins. First thing I noticed was how old the carpet was - at least several years old I say - though there were no major rips in it, there were numerous stains and it just looked worn and dirty. I later noticed that the bed skirting was extremely faded and also stained - it looked easily 10 years old. There were other more minor flaws in the room. The furniture in the room was quite acceptable and the bed large and comfortable. The air conditioning worked particularly well, which was appreciated during their peak of summer. The TV was a small tube-style TV with very poor cable reception. There were about a dozen cable channels including a couple of American movie channels and sports channels along with CNN, but the movie channels never came in very clearly. The cable reception overall was quite poor. There was a safe provided in the room which is good to stow your passport and excess cash you don't want to carry and the closet was quite nice. The bathroom was nice though a bit small. There was no wifi service available throughout the hotel, and only one computer for Internet usage in the lobby. I had to awake at 6am every morning just to check email and such - any other time of day, there was someone using it. This is totally unacceptable in my opinion for such a large hotel. I understand that this is not a business hotel per say, but nowadays people like to stay in touch even when they are on vacation - for a hotel that caters to foreign tourists, the hotel should understand this and allocate a few more computers. The gym/exercise room was quite nice. Though the equipment is about 10 years old, there are treadmills, exercise bikes, stair climbers, various weightlifting machines and free weights available. There were

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : I'd recommend a visit to Wat Pho, about a 60 baht tuk tuk ride from the hotel. Also visit Nong Sim Lake and the wat that is situated on the other side of the lake - also very lovely and some really nice photo opportunities here. About 80 baht by tuk tuk to this destination from the hotel.

Good location, excellent brunch, helpful staff.

Mosquitoes in lobby, got many bites.

An excellent value on a spacious suite. Complementary breakfast just ok, but brunch was excellent, according to a local I met "the best deal around." Rooms a bit old, but very clean, no older than to be expected in this part of Thailand. A la carte dinner very good.

Nightlife Tip : Hotel very convenient to night life.

Loud Disco across the street

The hotel is very nice to stay at. It is convenient to shopping, movies, eating. The staff are very friendly and courteous. The food is dood with a good variety. The only thing I found as a negative is that there is a Disco across the street. I was on the 8th floor and I could still feel the vibration from the music. This went on till about 2:30 in the morning. Can not sleep while this is going on.

Shopping Tip : Next door to the Mall

The Charoensri Grand Royal hotel in Udon Thani is perfectly located in the very centre of the town, within the main shopping mall. The architecture is interesting, the vast 10 floor triangular hall providing a nice-looking distribution to the room doorways. The staff is helfpul and friendly, and the wide pool provides an excellent break in the afternoon. The hotel is clean, the bathroom offering all the required amenities, and breakfast is globally fine (except the coffee). An excellent value-for-money choice.

The furniture would need some replacement and the corridors' carpets are worne out. TV foreign programs are quite limited.

Definitely the place to stay when in Udon Thani.

Restaurant Tip : For an excellent dinner, ask a tuk-tuk driver to go to one of the restaurants along the lake, only 5mn drive from the hotel. Giant prawns, great Thai dishes are on the menu at very reasonable rates (a fine dinner ranges from 7 to 10 US$)

Nice location

The building and facility seems to look old a little bit.

It is located in the middel of town. we can find anything to want in short walk. Next door is Robinson department store and there are so many restaurants in front of this hotel. You may enjoy dinner and shoppin at night market, which is located between railway station and this hotel. I will come back to there to stay. The staff has exellent performance. You can get to bus terminal station with 5 minutes walk to go to Vienchang, Nongkai and Bangkok.

Hotel Feature Tip : We hope shattle bus service to go to airport.

Location, restaurant availability, spacious room

Limited cable. No printer attached to the one Internet computer.

Very nice hotel. I had a very spacious room with breakfast included. Laundry service was sameday and not very expensive. Free water each day and a fruit plate every other day. The hotel restaurant was very good and there were also several other restaurants close by. There's a very nice shopping mall close by which has theaters as well.

Shopping Tip : Nice shopping mall very close by.

Very Central, nice staff, best hotel in town

Older Hotel, a bit dark.

The Charoensri Grand Hotel in Udon Thani is the biggest and most well-known hotel in Udon. It is an older 4-star Hotel, but well-maintained, with friendly, helpful staff. Best business Hotel in Udon, too, I think most business visitors would stay there, and it is a good place to have business meetings. Location is very central - easy to walk around outside hotel to enjoy all of Udon Thani's tasty restaurants and shopping. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends. Juniour Suite room is very large, with XL bathroom and expansive room area. Nice!

Restaurant Tip : "Fuzzy Ken's" is a friendly restaurant/bar/book shop within sight of Hotel. Good place to ask questions and catch a bite. SUMO Sushi right next door, an inviting place for have a bit of Japanese food for variety when you are in Udon.

Well-equipped rooms. Polite, helpful staff. Gym, pool, exercise classes.

None

Huge hotel, with clean, well-equipped rooms and good service. The lobby has a pool with fish. The main restaurant has a floor show in the evening. The night we stayed we saw four female singers in the space of an hour, but only three tables were occupied. There are two other restaurants in the hotel - a steakhouse and an Italian restaurant. There's a shopping complex next door to the hotel. You can book a ride to the airport from the front desk, for 30 baht. Well run hotel.

Hotel Feature Tip : Check out the gym and pool.
