Great to stay in a floating house
Location, remoteness, novelty factor of living in a floating house
8.3
The transfer was a little expensive from HCMC, but it was quite a drive then a boat ride, so it was worth it. The floating house was novel and well designed, with a flushing toilet, fresh water, a hot shower, standing fan and electric lights provided by solar power so no noisy generator. There is no internet and nothing to do except relax. It was a perfect ending to our busy holiday travelling around Vietnam where we could read, play cards and eat together on the deck of our house. All the meals were a set menu but very tasty and locally provided. Enough boats went past to provide interest but not enough to be an annoyance and it was soothing to feel the gentle rocking of the floating house.

Idyllic hotel. Great escape.
Sitting watching the river go buy as sun rises or sets.

Accommodation is clean, functional.
Location is superb, all you see are the trees and the river (plus occasional boats going by).
Transfers are expensive, relative to the accommodation - so do some research on this.
Food is great - simple breakfast, vietnamese evening meal. It's traditional, so be prepared, but tastes great.
Didn't get our free boat trip.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Wifi only exists on land - and is very, very slow. So be prepared to be isolated. Not a problem in my book.

Fantastic place and concept

Very nice and original place to stay right in the heart of Mekong Delta. The floating Houses are very stylish, comfortable and clean. The place is gorgeous and quiet. Don't miss the bicycle tour around the islands eventhough it's a bit pricey. Only disappointment was food which was ok but not as good as expected. Still friendly and english speaking staff. Relaxing and peaceful place, a must!

Great experience. Welcomed c a smile.
Houses x4 look the part. Enough space. Local materials

This is a kind of back to basics experience with extras. I guess a kind of clamping on the water. Each house has a spacious bedroom & en suite toilet to one side, shower to the other. No foyer or hotel complex as such. Met on arrival by friendly young host. Virtually no English spoken, but this is normal for most of southern Vietnam and you can usually make yourself understood. Owner is French & does speak good English. He can be contacted by phone if necessary. Meals served on the veranda. Cooling by opening windows and by fan.
Clearly this is a light weight structure as it has to float. It feels spacious. Walls single thickness of woven bamboo, roof coconut leaves. You can't see in but there's little sound insulation. There is a little movement on the water as you would expect. Take the free boat trip returning to the hotel at sunset. We watched the local fisherman as he laid out his fish traps in the evening set the feel. We loved it...
Getting there & bock from the mainland the hotel quoted us 10 dollars for 2 each way. We took a tour on the way out and they were happy to drop us to the hotel... & the hotel boat back.

Nice location but bad manager
nice location, nice sunrise and sunset, GOOD fishing
4
This place has very beautiful scenes and you will love it. But that is all.
1: They do not change the towels, bed sheets if you stay 1-2nights.
2: We read couple of reviews here to suggest to bring our own wines, beers. That was good idea. But, when the manager saw us to drink the wine at the balcony. He charged us the cork fee: 3 dollars a bottle.
3: the food here is awful. You must bring your own food.
4: the water for bath is slow, cold,etc...
5: very expensive to go to mainland and island. Each way charged 10 dollars.
5: the manager treats the service guys like the slaves. He and his wife yelled at them with nasty Vietnamese.
We had fun for fishing. We got several big fish.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Bring your own food, drink, TOWELS but not let the manager know.
Try not to use his boat service.
Tip the service guys.

Life on the river at its most comfortable
Well-constructed traditional houses with great sunrise and sunset views
8.3
There is probably no better way, bar a cruise, to experience the ebb and flow of river life on the Mekong. The views are great and the memories of sitting on the balcony watching it all go by remain a highlight.
It is not, however, designed for the light sleeper. You should be aware that river traffic is 24/24 and that the neighbouring island's dogs and roosters fill in any moments that might otherwise have been silent.
But overall a great slice of life experience and one we don't regret - the owner is very helpful and knowledgeable.
Travel tip:
It was OK for us over 2 nights, but I would not really recommend it for very young children (our youngest aged 3 1/2), as it can be stressful making sure the kids are safe.

This place is very romantic for a couple, we really enjoyed our one night stay here. Only negative point is that you must eat what they serve you as there are no other options anywhere near here. We are usually very easy going about food and like many things, but we did not like the dinner here at all and the portion sizes where also small for us, so that was very disapointing and I went a little hungry that night so I was glad to only stay one night. It was nice to walk around on turtle island and see the delta life without a tour guide. I still highly recommend this place, but maybe bring some instant noodles or something just in case you don't like the food ;)
Travel tip:
it is easy to get there by bus from saigon and then a motorbike to the boat dock and a small boat to the hotel. it is not as difficult as it may seem, just 3 hours total from saigon.

Very relaxing!!
The location right on the delta was unique.
8.7
our stay at the mekong floating house was great. our host were expecting us and took us straight to our floating home. we had our own en-suite, since it is promoted as a guesthouse, i was not sure whether the facilities were shared, hence the surprise. the decor was great and very traditional with bamboo mats on the floor and mosquito net. the make-shift bar in the form of a cooler box with cool drinks and beer was a thoughtful touch.
we opted for the 6 dishes course on each night and the food and service was great. the meals are taken on our veranda. very intimate and romantic! the directions provided to get to the floating house by mr kimma were very comprehensive.
little things that could be improved, no top sheets on the bed, only one toilet roll (very poor quality) at a time was provided. since it is promoted as a guesthouse, we would have expected mr kimma to say goodbye on our departure. after 5pm, there is no hot water. we went on a cycle ride and got back after 5pm. lucky it was a warm day and the cool water was refreshing.
it is a little gem of a place and great for relaxation!!
Restaurant Tip:
While walking on Turtle Island, we found a restaurant which would have been ideal for lunch. We had already booked at the Mekong Floating house as we thought that we were totally isolated.
Mr Kimma organised a bicylce tour for us which we thought at 20 US was good value.
