Situated on the banks of the Bassac River, this modern hotel is ideally located in the heart of Vietnam's famous Mekong Delta. The hotel is conveniently close to many famous tourist sites the area has to offer including the traditional floating markets of Chau Doc and several local shopping areas. The Victoria Chau Doc Hotel features a range of accommodation including superior city view and deluxe river view rooms with each one offering pleasant views of either the bustling city or the flowing river. Each room is spacious and comfortable with modern amenities including satellite TV, tea & coffee maker and is kept clean thanks to the daily maid service. The hotel offers several boat excursions thanks to its own attached jetty that can whisk guests off to local fishing villages and floating markets. The hotel also features wonderful riverside dining at its Bassac Restaurant as well as a relaxing rooftop terrace where guests can enjoy a relaxing massage.

The pool is small, but the setting is pretty.

The mood of being rich and privileged began when our public ferry from Phnom Penh pulled up to the Victoria's private dock first, allowing us to deboat before anyone else. From there we were welcomed into our beautiful room, with a huge wooden desk as big as a bed, original art, and welcoming robes and fruit basket. The view of the river from the colonial windows was magnificent. We never wanted to leave. Turn-down service included little cookies and candies. Breakfast on the patio was exceptional. When we left, we received a little souvenir of a silk bag in which our key had been presented.

Restaurant Tip : We went to the local "Mekong" restaurant across the road which was recommended in two guidebooks. We often eat in budget places happily, but the food was terrible--fish with an odd texture and the worst parts of the chicken. We ended up ordering a second meal at the Victoria which was delicious and served with style.
