The swimming pool is great, you wake up with the birds in the hart of Hanoi

Since nearly 20 years at least once a year I'm staying in the Army Hotel. The location, swimming pool and personel are perfect as ever. The premises are in need of some renovation, which I heard will be done soon. I hope so, as Hthe Army Hotel is an anchor of tranquility in the bustle of

nice hotel away from smog and scams of Hanoi
6.3
Rooms are very comfortable and the large compound made it very pleasant to relax away from the business and noise of Hanoi. Security made it feel a very safe place away from the intense bustle of the streets. Breakfasts and meals left a bit to be desired but would recommend it as a good middle range place to stay.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Find a place away from pollution as it can be hard to breath on the streets of Hanoi

Old but decent hotel
Comfortable stay with good wifi connection

i stayed in this hotel for a few days during a business trip to hanoi. i found this hotel to be quite decent, albeit the old building exterior and interior. the plus point is the ample wifi (internet) connection that allowed me to call skype-to-skype with my wife back home. all in all, a pleasant stay for a business traveler like me.

Great location with reserved but friendly staff.
Easy walking distance to the Old Quarter yet out of the hustle and bustle the free Wi-Fi works well, and the big inclusive breakfast will set you for the day

overall a satisfactory experience - little has changed over the years i have been staying here. in comparison to the new boutique hotels all over the city this hotel is starting to get a bit expensive. the rooms are dark and in need of a makeover. cleaning is a once over lightly affair and a bit more regular attention to vacuuming the carpet properly would help improve impression of the rooms.
the large outdoor pool is a big asset but avoid it on weekends and early / late in the day when it is taken over by locals.

the rooms have a old style, the moquette is dirty and the cleaning was far far away from the European standard

this hotel is run by the military. the room is clean and spacious. what i like most is i feel safe staying here. my local vietnamese told me that this hotel is owned by the military and therefore, it is definitely very safe. for a single female traveler, i feel relieved and slept very well.
