Excellent service, brand new and clean rooms and pleasant breakfast in the morning.
No lift which is why this hotel is cheaper than the Asia Palace 2 hotel and the problem with noise from the front rooms. The hotel promised that this will be sorted out before the end of 2009 with double glazing. For those who have not been to Hanoi/ Vietnam please be advised that its residents are obsessed by pressing their car and motorbike horns. This is extremely irritating. Especially at 4am.
Really friendly staff and I would definately go back once the aforementioned problem is sorted out. The absense of a lift is mildly irritating if you are on the top floor and forget something like a camera and need to go back and get it! Location is pretty good for getting in and out of Hanoi as well although it is not exactly in the old quarter as described in some press.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you are planning on travelling on the Pinta Gold in Halong Bay - the offices for Columbus travel company are about 100 metres from the hotel.

Free WIFI in rooms
free internet usage in the lobby
Location
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. We had a trip to halong bay and also stayed here for another two nights on our return, so it cant be that bad!! We therefore had two different rooms on the separate occations and both were identical in size and quality. The rooms are very clean and tidy and come with fridge, a/c and satelite tv. The bathrooms were pretty much brand new and also spotless. Free wifi in the rooms was a bonus for us, aswell as the free internet access down in the lobby that we used to print info for our ongoing trip.
The only gripes we had were with the first room which was on the 1st floor above the lobby/breakfast area. We found it very noisy from 5.30am with the set up for breakfast etc. This was not the case with the second room we had as it was on the fourth floor.
Location of the hotel was good for us. Its not right in the old town so quieter through the night and only took 5mins walk to get to the main area.
Overall thumbs up and would probably stay again if we were to ever return to hanoi.
