Omelettes for breakfast, the delightful staff members.

maintenance or lack of. No safe in the room, it's a bit of a nuisance to go through the paraphernalia of signed envelopes each time you want to change some money.

Somthing must have attracted us to the Blue Paradise as we returned there after our boat trip to Halong Bay and Cat Ba Island. It may have been because it was in the ideal location for what we wanted to do and had a lot to do with the lovely smiling faces and helpful manner of the reception and breakfast staff. The exploding toaster was something we laughed about for the rest of our holiday - not least because they made running repairs on the spot and toast was on the brekfast menu again the next morning! Innovation is the key to success in Vietnam.

Staff, staff, staff, breakfast!

maintenance - the bath wasn't connected to the wall so showering was an exercise in balancing. The floor was awash with water after a shower.

The staff members at Blue Paradise are so friendly and accommodating that I would forgive the hotel almost anything. We asked for and received information on tours, shopping, a local map, help with the hotel's computers (erratic at best) and they allowed us to leave our bags with them when we went off on a 2 night trip to Halong Bay. This was also recommended by them and we were very impressed with their choice. The boat we were on (Cristina) was fairly new and very comfortable. The breakfast on board was a huge disappointment however but that wasn't the hotel's fault.

Hotel Feature Tip : If you're going in the hotter months (June, July August), don't bother with a top floor room. They take longer to cool down and it's quite a hike up the narrow staircase.

Location - excellent Staff - couldn't be better, nothign too much trouble

Niggling maintenance problems, unreliable internet connections in lobby, computers in the rooms didn't work at all (tried 3 rooms). No lift - it's quite a slog up to the top in the heat of June/July.

The blue paradise is a small hotel very close to the shopping areas. The location is exceptionally convenient. The staff is second to none, they are the hotel's biggest asset. The omelettes for breakfast were the best I had in Vietnam. We requested and received a balcony room but you are unable to step out on to the balconies in any room except the top floor. There's a secondary window system outside the patio doors. They booked a trip to Halong Bay for us at a very reasonable price and with an exceptionally good tour guide. All things considered I would stay there again.

Shopping Tip : The night market is great for bargains and to just soak up the atmosphere.
