Business travelers Malaysia, April 26, 2012	Nice quaint hotel Simple, tasteful decorated rooms and clean 8 what can i say as a business traveler? the room was clean and certainly a lot better than my first impression when i got out of the taxi. the hotel is fairly new (or was it refurbished recently?) and therefore everything looked good. check-in was hassle free and the room was very pleasant for a good night's sleep. no complaints about the breakfast which was a mixture of buffet and some menu items which was more than decent for a morning bite. located at the old part of town, it has character although i suspect the cabby took me for a ride to get there...

Couples United States of America, April 26, 2012	Small hotel with big service super clean, quiet and comfortable with terrific service 9.7 Our first trip to Hanoi, and we stayed one night on our way to Halong Bay (amazing). The staff were just so nice, sincere and wonderful. The front desk crew were efficient, gracious and delightfully personable, willing to help in any way possible. In fact, after departing their good care for Halong Bay (3 days), we returned to Hanoi and had to stay in another hotel as Essence was booked. My wife discovered she left a pair of new high heels in the bathroom, and the great staff of Essence found them and delivered them to us...no charge. (they actually got them to our hotel so fast, I was unable to tip the courier! Bottom line: you just cant go wrong with this little gem. We also had lunch in the wonderful, quaint hotel restaurant, and the food was great. Highly recommend.

Couples Canada, April 24, 2012	Modern, clean rooms, helpful staff, old quarter comfortable bed, fruit basket in room, great location 9.7 we stayed at the essence for 1 night before heading to halong bay. we booked our halong bay tour through the essence hotel travel desk, and were very pleased with the company (bhaya). we were lucky enough to have a free room upgrade as they didn't have the deluxe room available, so they gave us the next best one which was impressive. the comfiest bed we slept on in vietnam, good tv channel selection, nice bathroom facilities etc. they included a generous fruit basket in our room, which was complimentary. the staff were very friendly, spoke excellent english, and were sincere. Travel tip: We arrived by way of train from Danang (which was great) however the taxi driver from the train station to the hotel took us on an unwanted 'city tour' before arriving a block away from our hotel. he charged us 3 times the price that it should have cost, and we eventually had to tell him to stop and we just got out and walked the rest of the way. Beware of these taxi scams!

Very close to 4- stars standard, value for money for the price paid. Will be a nice hotel to stay,many shops to look around in old quaters. However i got lost when im walking around,need to take a cab back to hotel. The staffs are friendly and provide very good service. The suite comes with a clean nice bathroom with overhead shower. And they provide laptop in room for free usuage,the in-room wifi is very stable as well. However, their breakfast menu need to be improved ,, not much variety and their main courses wasnt fantatsic.
Carrie M. Couples United States of America, April 21, 2012	best hotel in old quarter excellent quality and quiet 9.7 We wanted to stay in a very nice place before our flight home and this was it. The staff was 5 star and they gave us a free upgrade. We had left our luggage there while touring and they had it in the room waiting for us. They were so attentive we wondered if we should have booked out tours with them too. Loved it. Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: We used Ethnic Travel for Sapa and also went to Bai Tu Long Bay instead of Halong. I really reccomond this option. We were the only tour boat. It was amazing. Ethnic Travel tried really hard but they did miss on our pickups 3 of 4 times. The tours were fantastic.

Couples United Kingdom, April 18, 2012	Great location unexpected treats A well run modern boutique hotel in the old quarter, a haven of sophistication in a busy bustling area 9.7 This hotel was totally unexpected bearing in mind it was in the poorer old quarter not the grander French quarter. It was very well run, lovely fruit and a bottle of wine in our room to welcome us. Well trained staff, very caring and helpful, a joy to come back to at the end of busy and noisy days sightseeing. Breakfast w delicious and a good range of food available, a convenient bar for residents and also a restaurant with special offs althgh we did not actually use it. The rooms were beautifully decorated and a very comfortable bed and settee in the room. I would certainly use this hotel and it's chain again, good value for money and a peaceful stay in a fantastic but frenetic city. Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Even if you don't have children, we recommend the Water Puppet Theatre, it is near the big lake in the centre of Hanoi. The tickets are very cheap , can be bought just the day before and the shows are very enjoyable reflecting the life of people in Vietnam. There was a fantastic band accompanying it playing indigenous instruments and also voice overs/ singing from members of the band, a really enjoyable evening.

Solo travelers Netherlands, April 14, 2012	Good location and great staff location, staff 9.3 The hotel is in a perfect location in the middle of the Old Quarter and together with the staff that is very guest-and service-oriented they deserve the high rating here. I was lucky that my room was ready although I arrived before noon. The rooms have all you need but are not big and the same counts for the bathroom; I was struggling a bit there with space to find a place for my own toiletries there (normal things). In every room there is a laptop with good wifi connection, a fruit basked and the breakfast has a great variety with buffet and some a la carte options. The staffs are making the difference here: always friendly and helpful and they booked some trips for me and these were without doubt with all reputable companies with great guides. After my 2d/1n trip to Halong I returned here and got a bigger room now, which was more comfortable. The staff had booked the water puppet show and a restaurant which I asked them before I left and all was done exactly as I was hoping it to be. Great option at perfect location so can highly recommend this hotel to anyone and will come back here if i would return to Hanoi without any doubt.

Couples Australia, April 12, 2012	Great location friendly helpful staff Friendly helpful staff, nothing to much trouble 10 we stayed in the hotel either side of an overnight cruise on halong bay which the hotel organized for us, so on check out we paid for the cruise. please be aware if doing the same that the hotel charge a 3% surcharge on usind a credit or debit card, i thought that this was a bit excessive, as it increased our overall bill. other than that our stay was exceptional, the staff are friendly, the location of the hotel is great, rooms are of a good size and well maintained, the laptop was a good thing. we would stay there again.

Most helpful staff ever, free wi-fi new and clean. 10 stayed as a couple in april for 4 nights in junior suite. room spacious, with flatscreen, sofa inroom laptop. windows opened slightly. great aircon, reasonably priced mini bar. lovely timber floors. most comfy bed and pillows. not too hard as many other vietnam hotels beds are. food at essence cafe lovely and variety of western and vietnamese. highly recommende. very reasonably prices also. dearest dish was $12! easy walk to the lake. just turn right as you exit hotel and about 5 minutes walk and you are at beer corner. great street to walk down as a wide variety of goods for sale on the way. there is an atm outside the door very handy for accessing funds, a 7 eleven on the next corner as well as a pharmacy. they organised our trip to halong bay faultlessly on the dragons pearl and kept our luggage at the hotel. all in all highly recommend. 5. Travel tip:* All rooms great- saw deluxe, junior suite and superior. Superior is just smaller with no windows to outside. Minimal difference between deluxe and junior- suite slightly larger floor space.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Make sure you go and see Ho Chi Mihn mausoleum, you will be truly amazed.
