Simply great
Good location touristwise, good service, good breakfast, super clean, free wifi
8.7
everything was just great. absolutely no complaints.
as we were in hanoi (and vietnam) for the first time, we chose not to go budget, and booked the president suite. it was well worth it. would i use the same hotel during the next trip? yes i would.
the airport transfer was great also, meaning no hassles. (the fee was not included in the agoda price, of course, but were paid upon leaving the hotel.)
Hotel Feature Tip:
Wait until the bath tub is full before you start the jacuzzi blasts. :D

Good hotel in a good location
Generally helpful service and a very nice room

I liked this hotel- the decor, facilities, etc. The staff was mostly helpful, though there was some difficulty about paying costs in cash with very little advance notice.

very comfortable stay
Clean, central, friendly service, free wi fi.
8.3
A little confusing with the other Gia Bao down the road so be careful with which one you are staying in. Small room but ideal for one person. Very friendly and helpful staff. Attentive and gave accurate information. Good TV channels and amenities. Free Wi-Fi also. Didn't use F&B services. Would recomend for the prices. Small and cosy.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Free Wi-fi

good hotel for great bargain
The hotel was located right in the heart of the old quarter.
9.3
We deliberately chose hotels in the heart of the old quarter. The hotel was close to everything fun within walking distance. Including access to the lake and the water puppet theater. But once you got back into the hotel you are shielded completely from the business street noise.

Good hotel at a good location
Clean and comfortable hotel with fast Wifi connection
9.3
Our booking of the Superior room came with a free upgrade to Deluxe with 35 sq m. It's reasonably spacious. However, compared to a 28 sq m room at the Bamboo Sapa Hotel in Sapa Vietnam, the Deluxe room here was small!! I think it is not unreasonable to discount the room size at Gia Bao by 20%. You may therefore find a standard Superior room (25 sq m) a bit too small and uncomfortable. We were happy with everything in the room --- clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was rather simple and remained almost the same everyday. Staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful. The hotel is located at a very good location and many travel agents, local shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
For travelers, Hanoi is quite a small city. Not much to be seen. Mailinh Taxi is the most reliable and Taxi World the second. My advice is 3 nights in Hanoi is enough to see the city and to book your trips to see various attractions. A day trip to Tam Coc is highly recommended.

Decent hotel for the price
Close to Shopping and Food

The hotel is located in a popular/busy area near shopping and the lake. The staff at the hotel is helpful and booked a trip to Ha Long Bay for us. The tours were slightly cheaper to book through the hotel than advertised through another website so would advise doing this. And easy as well. They handled transportation to the boat and almost everything was included for the trip.
The room was clean, but the 2nd room we stayed in at the hotel was smoky. A important note is if you are at the hotel and disabled make sure to stay on the 2nd-5th floors. They also have 6th and 7th floors but the elevator goes no higher than 5th floor so you have to walk up the rest. Wifi at the higher floors is barely useable.
Another note is after 12am they look the front door to the hotel and the staff sleeps on benches in the lobby with parked motorbikes. Not what I expect when thinking of a 3 star hotel.
There is a small restaurant in the hotel and the food is tasty.
Shopping Tip:
be very careful in hanoi. theft when dealing with tourists seems a everyday part of life. no less than 10 times during a 5 night stay did different people try or succeed to steal money. they do this in taxis, restaurants and any shopping. even in the casinos. you will not get back correct change or they will attempt to keep all your remaining money from the bill. you will get charged for things you didn't order and have to be on your toes at all times. not relaxing at all. there are a few interesting cultural sights in hanoi but it is not a city i will ever return to again.

intimate hotel with family feel service
Good staff and comfortable beds!!
8
the hotel is very clean, stylish and the staff were so welcoming! straight away we were taken into the lounge for our welcome drink and were being shown tours available of ha long bat by the tour agent at the hotel. i felt this was a bit pushy but we went away and thought about it. (we ended up doing an overnight tour with who they recommended and it was amazing!)
we stayed in the presidential suite which isn't as big as the pictures make out but it is extremely well decorated and comfortable. it was still a good size and the bed was so comfortable!as per all vietnamese hotels- the finishing on edges (tiles etc) aren't the best. the bathroom had a jacuzzi but unfortunately when you turned it on it smelt like sulfur so we didn't use it. the shower head was retractable but didn't have a hook to hold it up so we had to hold it (also it didn't retract all the way).
breakfast was reasonable for a 3 star hotel.
the thing that really shines in this hotel is the decoration and the staff! they were so good to us and always seemed happy to see us. we had to leave at 530 to get our plane and they packed a takeaway breakfast for us.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
the tour through the hotel for ha long bay was spectacular! yes it was expensive but the boat, room, food, staff and sights were amazing! i recommend doing it if you want some peace from the city!

Surprise hotel with a smile
8.7
i was on my onwards business trip from china and arrived hanoi early in the morning. at first i wanted to run away when i saw the building at this hour, totally no light, doors blokked by a bar, a receptionist sleeping in the small lobby, and also a scooter parked there. in the morning everything looked much more friendly and it was clean, friendly people, good breakfast, clean room and bed, good bathroom, but more a tourist hotel than business stay seen its location close to the lake. very cosy surrounding at night, but desertic at 1:00am!!!!
when leaving i got 2 small presents with compliments from the hotel. never got this from any hotel i have ever been.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Cheap but quite good. Maybe for business not so ideal, because of its location in the centre of the city. Highly recommend to tourists.
