Nice hotel and Great location.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the golden lake hotel.the rooms are comfortable,clean and bright.the top floor is where breakfast is served and the lake view is breathtaking in the morning .we booked our halong bay tour at the hotel with the help of miss hien and we had a really good trip .the location is perfect ,so close to the lake ,coffee shops and restaurants .the staff were always friendly and helpful ,so i have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Good location, not so good service

the location is great, few walk to the lake and ancient quarter. the room is quite ok, the lighting in the room is not so good. the service quality is not equivalent to the room rate. i booked the room for 2 people but water is only provided for 1 person. the bathroom was not clean properly, 1 used towel was hung. the rest was clean and ok. i dont like the smell of perfume used for the room.

Great value &room - shame about the reception staf
Bedroom was extremely comfortable, lovely bed & all mod-cons. Very convenient & well situated.

Extremely happy with the room and cost (one of the nicest rooms we've stayed in so far on our tour around Vietnam) but disappointed about the rude reception we received from staff on front desk upon arrival and thereafter. Having said that the waiting staff at breakfast could not have been more friendly.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
We joined the trips organised by the two local hostels. A great experience.

Basic hotel right in the center of the city

This hotel was located right next to the lake in the center of the city. It was surrounded by lots of great places to eat and central to the main shopping area and not to far from lots of historical attractions. The room was clean, on the smallish side with a big king bed - which was rock hard. The staff were friendly and most had good English communication.

this is my third time stying here.
i am very happy wiht the location ofthe hotel, it is just 2 minutes walk to hoan khiem lake. very easy to get around, great restuarant nearby and excellent sight seeing at adoor step.
however, breakfast is very limited and asian. hope they can improve this.
the night market is so close and it was so fun shopping and bagaining there.

It is located in a very central part of town. Seemed like everything was right around the corner (Cathedral, Hoan Kiem Lake, etc). There was a great restaurant directly across from the hotel. The rooms were a bit small and the bed was rock hard. It was very hard to sleep on. Luckily, I don't remember waking up to the sounds of the trillions of motor bikes or anything. We were on the 10th floor so it was pretty quite. Breakfast was amazing! Great view!

Be sure to go to Halong Bay!
