Clean, lively, reasonably priced, friendly staff.

Internet cable too short, confusion about my booking at check-in.

This hotel is not as central as it might be but it is close enough to the centre and offers very affordable accommodation of a quality that is more than satisfactory. I look for cleanliness, security, friendliness and efficiency of service and these qualities were all sufficiently apparent at this hotel. I would certainly recommend it to my friends.

Restaurant Tip : There is a very nice bakery, selling bread and other treats right next door.

Nice setting on the lake

Very noisy, karaoke bar, discos, casino

Hotel had big rooms and good tv channels, location was ok also for attractions. Staff were helpful bit it was very noisy at night as the hotel houses a casino, karaoke bar and nightclub. Small shops surround the hotel and taxis are very easy to hail down. Lots of small coffee shops surround the hotel also which is nice. You can walk around the lake where the hotel is situated.

location, lake view restaurants, clean room, staff

unsatisfactory apparatus like hair-fryier etc in the room, internet is not free.

It's a good hotel. I had no any negative experience that it can be preferred at ease.

I was upgraded to the new wing with Lake View. Quite centrally located with food outlets outside the hotel, supermarket, duty free shop etc.

No enthusiasm in service. Have to pay for internet use in the room....even 1 star hotels give it free in Vietnam.Breakfast is the same everyday.

Not many choices, so I was back to Hanoi Hotel. I wanted a hotel that had more than 80-100 rooms, not the boutique hotels around Hoan Kiem Lake, so had little choice with the budget I had. The new wing is definitely better than the old wing as the furniture and fittings are newer. Doorman started quite friendly but after seeing us a couple of times taking the cab, he was more 'stone faced'...maybe because I didn't tip him everytime he opened the door. I had the tim sum (yumcha) buffet. Lots of dishes on offer but a bit difficult to order without pictures i.e. dumpling can be so many different types.

Restaurant Tip : There's a cafe at the corner of the road leading to Hanoi Hotel called Oh My God. Serves western food like pizza and pasta. There's even fusion food like Kim Chi Pizza though I didn't try it. Had a 500ml bottle of Sochu which costs only about USD5+

Reasonable prices and accomodating staff. Internet charge very reasonable compared to the big chain hotels.

Breakfast staff almostly completely out of it (ignoring customers, singing to each other). Smoking allowed in the breakfast room.

The Hanoi Hotel is in a central location in Hanoi, close to the USA Embassy and the Alfresco restaurant. The Desk Staff were friendly and accomodating, giving an upgrade without even being asked. Would say it is a 3 star hotel so accomodations are clean but worn. Does get group tours and does not seem to provide any "non smoking" spaces in the dining areas.

Restaurant Tip : Alfresco's restaurant

Good chinese restaurant

Entrance to be more atractive. Current entrance is too small

I did not know that there is a kind of twin tower hotel, but my room was quite better. Service of breakfast is all right, such as Vietnamese typical noodle made by cook.

Restaurant Tip : Better Japanese restaurant is opened as 'Yakiniku' close to Daewoo hotel.

Good location with lots of shops nearby, good restaurants, casino on-site, health centre, free wifi internet in room

Breakfast spread limited

I stayed 2 nights there. I usually stay around Hoan Kiem Lake but wanted a change this time. Hotel is large for local hotel standards. Breakfast buffet was included but spread was not very wide. Staff generally friendly. Taxis are readily available at the front entrance. There's a nice little lake on one-side of the hotel and is visible from the Chinese restaurant and the Breakfast outlet...very nice.

Hotel Feature Tip : Can have a masseur sent to your room but it costs double that of having it at the health centre

Good value. Good Chinese restaurant in the hotel. Nice lakeside location.

Noisy cars honking early in the morning to late at night, if you have the city side rooms.

Definitely try to get the lakeside rooms. You will avoid all the cars honking and street noises below. The hotel is located in the outskirts of downtown, but Hanoi is small, so it'll only take about 10-15 minutes to get into the old downtown district. I had the city side rooms, and it's the older building. The newer building has the lakeside view. The breakfast buffet was okay. Simple Vietnamese, Chinese, and American food available. There is a charge for wireless internet access...I think about $8 / day. Overall, the hotel is a decent value.

OK please to stay...over rated Guest Rating: 6

It is just another hotel I would have easily rated as 3 star not 4 star as stated. Smiling faces at the reception did the work to keep the hotel as 3 star.

Room is pretty old, though I was upgraded.

Neat hotel, slight retro feel Guest Rating: 8

Excellent value for money buffets Well furnished rooms Awesome view of the lake

Carpets look and feel aged Room needs better lighting Could not figure out how the in-room safe works!!

Hanoi Hotel has that feel of being among the better ones in town. The renovated wing is world class. The view of the lake and the openness is a relief after the rush on the streets. Food options are a definite plus. The sea food near the lobby is tantalising, though one feels sorry for the fish!! The lunch buffet at $5.50 is a bargain. Do not expect too many TV channels!

Hotel Feature Tip : Lunch buffet at 5.50 USD + Tax is a steal
