Hanoi Palace Hotel is located in the old town area in Hanoi, quite convenient for you to walk around to the lake, see different shopping streets, having meals. It is a sort of guest house in Hanoi, room is still clean when you check in. The service need to be improved though.

convenient location

housekeeping need to be done on time.

  • Restaurant Tip : local food Bun Cha Nem Cua Be is not far from there.

In general the hotel was good, but my room was very noisy (discotheque and street works) and had humidity in the walls (this was the worst because the smell is very bad). The hotel is places in the heart of the ancient town of Hanoi, near the restaurants and the shops. The staff is very kind. The breakfast was very poor.

Placed in the heart of the old town. Staff very kind.

There was humidity in the room walls. The restaurant was out of order (but with room service). The room was very noisy (there is a discotheque below the room).

Good hotel. Pity about the noise. Guest Rating: 3.8

We were probably unlucky because of the renovation work. In all other respects hotel was excellent. Very good value for money. Would consider going back in the future when I am sure there will be a quiet environment and excellent facilities.

Location in the Old Quarter was excellent.

Serious problem with construction noise. Major renovation taking place with work commencing at 6.30 am. Checked out immediately as a result. We were given no warning regarding the construction situation. Dining room not available for breakfast as a result of construction. Trays delivered to room, not satisfactory.

This was the worst three star experience I've ever had. My room (202) is right above a basement disco, although the thumping can be hear throughout the hotel. During my stay, I suffered construction noise from 7 a.m. through the day and disco music all night. The toilet smelled like a public toilet. If you come back to the hotel after midnight, as I did, I could not get in because the reception was shuttered and it took me 15 minutes to raise someone's attention (a guy asleep at the reception desk). Overall, this hotel is a disgrace.

Unless someone does something about the loud music from the bar downstairs, I will not recommend this hotel to business or leisure travelers.

Ideal location to get the flavor of Old Hanoi but handy to reach modern city ares although the modern city does not fascinate me personally.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Water Puppet Theatre 10 minutes walk away. Great fun.

We kept our passports and some valuables at the reception for safe-keeping only to find out later on while collecting that it was taken out of the safe (which is actually just a drawer where anyone has access into), bag opened and left lying around the reception area! Very stupid! The place is noisy from the staff and from the in-house club at the basement which stayed open very late. We checked-out a day early and left Hanoi restless and disappointed. I would never recommend this hotel at all. For the price they charged, there are other better places, don't be fooled with the photos on the site.
