I found the Hanoi Plaza an excellent place to stay in the Old Quarter of Hanoi; the staff were considerate and caring, although their lack of English could lead to issues with communication. My room, although small, was more than adequate for my needs and it was clean and well maintained. The breakfast was okay, but did not vary very much from day to day. I found the cost provided excellent value and I will stay there again if I visit Hanoi.
The Hanoi Plaza is in an ideal location in the Old Quarter and is in the right place for the visitor to soak up the ambaince of this area. I found it to be a very clean hotel and well priced. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The staff have very little understanding of English and sometimes that led to confusion. The breakfast was basic and there was little change from day to day.
- Shopping Tip : The Hanoi Plaza is very close to the silk shops and it was very easy to spend money on having clothing tailor made.

The staff are extremely helpful and very professional. They will do whatever they can to take care of any request. The facility itself is clearly well cared for, and unfortunately some of the renovation was taking place during our stay (construction noise). The rooms are fairly well insulated against hallway and neighbor noises, however we were on the top floor and whatever they were doing on the roof echoed right into our rooms - at 7 am. At one point the banging was loud enough to make me think there was a knock on the door!
The location of the hotel is ideal, close to day and night markets, within walking distance of many restaurants, including Pub Street. Finding a Tuk Tuk is no problem since a few hang out near the driveway area.
Overall, the hotel was a wonderful escape from the heat, dust and hustle of Siem Reap. The pool is a perfect place to rest weary feet after a full day at the temples. Beware that when snacking and/or drinking at the pool bar the prices are inline with North America. On the upside, they do include a breakfast buffet with the room and it had many choices appealing across the western and Asian palettes.
Excellent location.
Very helpful and professional staff.
Spacious rooms.
Well manicured grounds.
Construction sounds.
Over-priced on site food & drinks.
- Restaurant Tip : We found an excellent cafe near the hotel. When you walk out the front drive onto the main street, turn left and walk no more than 100 meters. There will be a street cafe that makes sandwiches and smoothies - the smoothies are outstanding!
Not a bad option

The staff were very nice. Their English was not that good, but that did not stop them from being friendly and helpful. The main front desk staff had decent English and he really went out of his way to make sure I got to the airport on time. Great guy. Good location, easy walking distance to most of the sites and restaurants. Some of the staff are Tourism students from a local university, so they are very eager to work hard and smile a lot. In the room there was a writing desk, TV with cable (BBC, CNN, MTV), a fridge with beer and water, and lots of space to hang up clothes (superior room). If you're traveling on a budget and want a nicer place to stay, this place would make a very decent choice.
The rooms are clean and bright. Good location, easy walking distance to most of the historic and cultural sites. 5-10 min in any direction and you will find parks, lakes, restaurants, historic sites, bars, and shopping.
The restaurant is only open for breakfast, but this is ok as there are many places to eat in the neighbourhood and room service was available. It would be nice to have a bar or social area in the hotel somewhere to relax.
- Restaurant Tip : If you turn right out the front door, then turn right again at the first corner then go straight for about 10 meters there is a local restaurant run by 3 young sisters. They're very nice and the food is pretty good.
great ubication

the hotel price is pretty cheap for the service provided. they give healthy breakfast. the service is very good, people are amigable. the room size is normal, they have internet. however, the beds and tawels are not quiet clean so bring your own tawels and blanket. the hotel is located in the shopping areas. once you arrive the area seems dangerouse but once you are there you realize it is not. however keep alert anyplace you go.
good service, very good location, cheap.
not quiet clean.
- Shopping Tip : there are many streets that sell different things. the central lake is located 12 min by walking. you can find anykind of products you want close by. also the hotel has an agency where for one day they can take you to see some islands.

I stay in Honai Plaza for two days in August, 2008. The staff attitude is very kind and good, he even help to keep our motorbike during the night. Staff can arrange good price for air ticket, Taxi for you. The package tour(Ha Long Bay – two days) is with good quality and good price. My wife and me enjoy the package tour very much.
1. Hotel price is good
2. Hotel location is very closed to several sightseeing
1. The room closed to street is very noisy
2. It’s very hot if you live in top floor in summer day
- Shopping Tip : During the Ha Long Bay tour, select a room far away from the boat engine if you sleep in the board. The food in the boat is not so good, so you can prepare something for eating in advance.

Overall I would say I was reasonably happy with the hotel, especially when considering the price paid for the room. Despite the slight complaint, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Okay value for money, helpful staff and reasonable location.
Our room had no window and the shower was very poor (like showering with a water pistol).
- Restaurant Tip : There are a number of good restaurants / cafes close to the hotel including the Hanoi Garden and the Gekko Cafe?? (100m to the left of the Hotel)
