This little great hotel has a great location and good price for me. The hotel staff is nice, friendly and could communicate in English. Breakfast is for those who is really angry, but not for those who looking for great meal. Great hotel for traveller who care for location and budget.
Shopping Tip : Great area in the middle of shopping area and just behind the Hanoi landmark, well known beautiful Hok kiem Lake.

Staff were alright, hotel is central and brilliantly positioned in Hanoi near the lake in the old quarter No lift, very noisy street, does not give what is listed on the website, no welcome drink, no safe, no shower and bath as advertised. If you are willing to put up with several inconveniences, this hotel is a decent cheap option for accommodation in Hanoi. Be aware that they do not offer all that they advertise. We arrived and they had resold our bed (our flights arrived late), so we were offered a room with twin beds for the first night of our stay. This room was not at the same standard as we booked, yet there was no compensation offered by the hotel to us. The room that we were given for our remaining nights did not seem to fit the 'deluxe' standards as advertised by them. They advised that 'complimentary drinks on arrival' and 'fruit platter' meant that we were allowed to go to the kitchen and help ourselves - but they only told us that after we queried them. Our room had a shower head over the toilet (also not as specified). Sheets were clean, hotel staff were polite. Rooms are all on the stairwell, and it is very loud when others walk up and down the stairs. Overall, reasonable for the price, but I would not recommend paying the extra for 'deluxe' as there is essentially no difference between deluxe and standard. Breakfast is seriously dodgy, and I recommend going to any of the delicious alternatives near the lake (or gloria jeans across the road)
Hotel Feature Tip : Our taxi driver was on the phone to a friend on the way into the city, and we drove up to a random hotel, and a guy told us we were at this hotel, and that our room is at a 'sister hotel'. He had a business card for the Hanoi Royal, and they tried to take us to another hotel (where they got commissions). This hotel is reasonably signed, and right near the lake, make sure you are taken to the right place!

Good location, cable television problam with the toilet flush, small cockroach spotted on 2 occasions Hotel has a good location, just behind the Hoem Kiem Lake, quiet as the room does not face a main road. Air-condition was working well and strong - appreciated esp. coming back from the hot and humid weather outside.
However, hygiene standards could be higher (we spotted small cockroaches on 2 occasions!) There was a problem with the toilet flush as well - water kept leaking into the bowl and there wasn't sufficient water for flushing.
