Heart of Old Quarter, huge rooms, good value

Hotel staff were very friendly, a little hard to understand and vice versa but always smiling and wanting to help. Breakfast was ok, although I just stuck to the fresh fruit and yoghurt. Rooms were a good size, not always spotlessly clean (some dirty towls and suspect smudges in the bathroom) however. Overall value for money given location.
Restaurant Tip:
Head to Ma Nay Street for a good range of street food. New Day Restaurant is particularly good and haunted by loads of Vietnamese. Cheap!

i have stayed in vietnam 3 times in the past few years, and have stayed in some relatively expensive and cheap hotels. royal view was the perfect combination of affordability with great accomodations. the location is right in the center of the city of hanoi, walking distance to the lake, puppet theatre and town center. the staff were very friendly and accomodating. a great hotel and would definitely stay there again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The water puppet theatre show was a bit overhyped for me. It seems to be more appropriate for families with small children than adult travelers.

good location but weird room

our room has a back window that opened to a wall. the gap is about 6 inches wide and immediately below is the kitchen. the bedroom has one double bed and two single beds, my husband and i was wondering why we were given this room exactly. but since english is not the spoken langauge so we didn't attempt to ask. for fire regulation, this is dangerous as we are on the firing line with the air gap from the kitchen to our room.

i stayed here for 1 night and then went to ha long bay for 2 days arranged by hotel staff.it was amazing and we had a lot of fun.i booked the superior room and was upgraded to deluxe room,the room was nice,clean with free water,fruit... and even a laptop in room with fast wifi.buffet breakfast was good with a lot of choice,they also have noodle(pho) as well.i love pho very much.the staffs here was the most improtant things of this hotel,all staffs speak very well english,they always welcome you with big smile and when you come back from outside they ask if you would like to have some tea or coffee to drink....the staff at concierge even take me to the medicine shop and help me to translte in vietnamese...nice touch.cannot say enough about this lovely hotel.i would highly recommend this hotel to all of my friends.thank you hanoi royal view hotel staffs

Looks nice and comfortable but did not sleep well

the overall feeling for the room was good. however, the bed was abit hard and it was rather noisy in the morning. breakfast selection was rather limited. the location was rather in the center of the old quarters, which have access to many places easily.

We splurged and got the room which includes panoramic views of the lake and city, bottle of wine in the room, drink and towel upon arrival, etc. None of that was given!!! The room had absolutely no view, there was no wine, the room was old and dirty, and the front desk staff did nothing to help. While the hotel was nicer than some other hotels might be in Hanoi.

the hotel is situated in the heart of old quarter. just a step out of the hotel is all the shops selling shoes. walking further down, there are shops selling all sorts of stuff. from food to clothes. room was great as internet was free(laptop provided).however, breakfast selection was limited.overall, have a good experience.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
A visit to Sapa is a MUST!!!
