Nice busy location
Close to good restrurants and good shopping facilities at hand.
7.7
the hotels facilities were adequate, rooms pleasant and housekeeping was of a good standard. the waiting staff was just a bit too attentive during breakfast often taking plates or cups before customer was finished. most of the waiting staff had a very poor command of english need more training and basic lessons in english however staff very friendly and attentive. the hotel needs a bit of fie tuning in the communications area. the hotel was quite noisy as a building site next door was in full swing 24 hrs a day. great location right in the thick of things bit busy but very central .
Hotel Feature Tip:
Take ear muffs .

a good stay hiowever being on business i was waiting for a package of prospectus' to arrive. it should have preceeded my arrival. it never came even after daily requests of friendly front office staff. i later learnt from my pa that the consierge refused to accept it and had it destroyed. he never mentioned this when i saw him almost daily! not happy!

Medium Sized Room in the heart of town
Really Close to everything including shopping and historical sites.
8.7
Our second stay at this hotel was much better than our first as we received a much larger room compared to our previous and that actually changed our spirits.
Again the breakfast was minimal but there are fantastic restaurants all around so it is only a very small shortcoming.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The Temple of Literature is a must see and will separate the tourists from the travelers. The building is over 1,000 years old and the monument to Confucius is very inspiring.

Small Rooms in Inner City Location
Close to the Centre of Hanoi and the Markets
6.7
Unfortunately this was the first night we stayed here before heading off to Halong Bay. We would return 2 nights later for a much better experience.
We did check in quite late and was extremely disappointed to see the size of our room on the 6th floor. I know this is an inner city hotel but this was a shoe box. Bedroom connected to a bathroom. We could only open one suitcase as the only room to place the second was on the bed.
The buffet breakfast was also a little disappointing and limited but they did have the chef making eggs to order. We did find out after our return to Australia that we could have asked the chef to make us pancakes or waffles etc. but this was never mentioned to us or signed so hopefully in the future that will be made clear.
As we were only there for the night (as we were leaving extremely early) i could live with the small room.
Shopping Tip:
Right in the middle of Hanoi, make sure you shop for pearls as they are extremely cheap. There is a great restaurant not far called Rock Billy Cafe which does Western and Vietnamese dishes as well as cheap cocktails.
Also be ready to haggle as on numerous occasions we managed to get the seller down to half the original asking price.

great location central to activities
5.7
Reception/Restaurant staff not the most friendly or obliging, however the concierge and room service staff were lovely people. The lady in the recption area that organises tours is more concerned with that than assisting you with any travel arrangements that you might like to organise yourself. The in-house massage service was excellent value and very good.

Good hotel, friendly and helpful staff
Double windows great - no noise from old quarter
9.3
Hoabinh Palace Hotel is in an excellent location in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. The rooms are a good size and there is fresh fruit and bottled water provided free each day. Breakfast buffet has a good choice and service is good. Staff are very helpful and you can book all tours through the travel office in the lobby. My only criticism is the lift is a little slow.
Restaurant Tip:
Gecko Restaurant just a few doors from Hoabinh Palace. Great selection of food and very sheap

Great hotel in the Old Quarter
Hotel, staff, location, shower
9.3
stayed at the hoabinh on our trip to hanoi and this hotel was a great treat. the hotel is in a great location in the middle of the old quarter with so many resturants to choose from. the hotel staff was great. duong duy khanh who was on the day shift was just amazing. he is probably the best front desk person we have encoutered in years. had a problem with getting the correct sim card and he helped us and got it working in our phone. the hotel was clean, quiet, and comfortable. the room while small was just right for the 2 of us. the shower was great and strong pressure. the breakfast was a bit of the same each day, but on the whole ok. the housekeeping staff was so nice and kept our room clean. we wanted a late check-out and they only charged us 20 usd with a 6:30pm checkout. this was a bit more expensive than some of the others nearby, but worth every cent. free water in room, fresh fruit, tea and coffee and mini bar! cnn, bbc, hbo etc!!!!!
Restaurant Tip:
So many great restaurants in the area and easy transport to anywhere in the city. Wide range of foods and a great pub right next door. Most of the restaurants were in the 10 USD range for 2 with a beer. A few were high priced and you could find other places with less ambiance and better food.

Lovely hotel and good service
Clean, neat, very good location
8.7
hoabinh palace hotel is a nice, clean, and neat hotel. easy to walk to nearby vicinities such as restaurants, shops, even night markets (not sure if it opens on weekday as well). the staffs are very helpful and attentive. the restaurant on the 8th floor offers a nice view of the city and very relaxing. only the noise from the passing by vehicles a bit noisy, but overall the experience was very good.

spent 6 nights at this hotel. typical mid range hotel in vietnam, decent rooms, but not very large if you do not opt for the deluxe rooms which we ended up staying in as they claimed to 'not have the rooms we had originally booked' it was a complimentary upgrade though but on extension of stay we had to pay a higher price for the same room.
room included breakfast which was not very good, but they did offer to pack a breakfast box when we had to leave the hotel before breakfast was served. did not take it though so not sure what that was like.
very good location, close to all the tour operators offices and being in the backpackers area, there was no lack of places to eat and drink.
night market is a short walk straight down the road, but don't waste your time as the shopping is not very good and the hotel warned us that prices were higher than the rest of the city and you would have to bargain to get a good deal.
round the corner from handspan tours which does very good tours....well organized .10minute walk to the lake.
Restaurant Tip:
The Pub next door, great little bar, with very friendly staff.
