The location and the proximity to good restaurants and other places. The space in the rooms.
Very cold rooms, the thermostat is by default in very low position. Expensive cafe and bar.
I visited the hotel on a business stay. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Very goos location and proximity to major business and tourism areas. Food in the hotel is expensive and the same holds for drinks at the bar. Rooms are spacious and clean and with good amenities. Internet is of good quality but rather in the expensive side.
Restaurant Tip : Do not miss the Quan An Ngon restaurant which is just 5 minutes walk from Melia

Large rooms - ideal location. Great outdoor bar area upstairs
Overall a very nice hotel. Sometimes the door keys loost their coding
We stayed at this hotel in Hanoi for two nights and all things were of a high standard. It is located just near the french old quarter, good walking distance to attractions, and restaurants. The staff were very professional with excellent English. They also helped organise a great tour to Halong Bay.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Book internal flights on line 36 hrs before hand

Location, friendly staff, upgrade package.
Staff English language skills.
There was but one lady with good English language skills, the remainder had a lot of difficulty understanding our requests. Example - a cappuccino with skim milk ended up as a coffee and a glass of skim milk on the side. But noting was too much trouble for them, and we appreciated their willingness to help. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the old quarter - which is really just a large market these days, Our upgrade package included a very good breakfast, excellent internet connections and evening cocktails, as well as coffee all day in the lounge. Some detailed cleaning of corridors is needed though.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Tours from the hotel are a bit expensive, so it may pay to pre-book any sightseeing tours you want.
