Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Very warm service, value for money, very clean, you can book all your tours in northern vietnam.
Having heard not so good reviews about Hanoi i didn't have very high expectations for Mike's hotel. The hotel is located in the centre of the "Old Quarters" along one of its many alleys. At first sight, it was less than impressive, the exterior was old and its entrance was cluttered with motorbikes. However the moment you step in, a the bellboy will usher you to the dining area and offer you a drink. Upon checking in, they will give you a through run though of the many things to see in Hanoi - They even provided us with a map. They provide other services such as airport transfer. Albeit a bit expensive at 14 USD, we were more than happy to use it as we were tired of all the haggling at the airport. Apart from that they also provide local tours to all the famous places in northern vietnam. Many people use this hotel as a base for all their tours. We only went for one - Ha Long bay, but we'll definately be comming back for more!
Shopping Tip : You have to bargain when you shop. Slash whatever price that they quote in half - at the very least. One rickshaw driver wanted to charge us 4USD for a 3min ride. When we asked him where the location of our hotel was, he refused to tell us/ point us in the direction, just kept insisting that he knows where it is. We settled for 30,000 dong - abt USD 1.50 . Turned out that the hotel was just around the bend! - a very short bend. It was a USD 1.50 lesson, so ain't that bad.

*Fantastic service
*Great Location
*Clean Rooms
*Offer good deals on tour packages
The staff at Mike's was truly great...it feels like a family atmosphere and I can't say enough good things about them. They were always more than happy to answer questions or arrange anything that I needed (taxis, tours, food, etc). The hotel is within walking distance of nearly everything I wanted to see, but is also in the middle of the Old Quarter, so you get the full Hanoi experience. One other awesome plus was the delicious free breakfast...multiple options, all amazing!
Restaurant Tip : Ask about sidewalk Pho (noodle soup)...they don't typically have names or brick and mortar restaurants, but the Mike's staff can lead you to some awesome dinner for about $1

Friendly staff
Clean room, ours was at the back of the hotel so not noisy. Very friendly staff, and you could book trips to Halong Bay and other places as well - though there was no pressure to do so. Great location, walking distance to many of the sites (if you can handle the madness of the streets). Not a quiet romantic getaway, but an ideal travellers hotel in the heart of the action.
Restaurant Tip : If you are looking for the Cha Cua La Vong restaurant from the Lonely Planet guide it is just round the corner from the hotel. However, a copy cat has opened up on the right hand side of the street a few doors down - make sure you go to the one at number 14. (The other one was ok, but the owner proclaims he is "No 1 in guide book" - which is not true - that is the other one).
