Love the no tip policy
Attentive staffs (although service is slow for Kongers standard), spacious room
7.7
good location n nice environment. enjoy much spending an afternoon by the pool. free banana ice cream cone given. staffs are attentive and friendly. changing room for spa and gym is tiny.
the hotel adopts a no tip policy which is good. personally against some travelers like non-stop giving out tips(for better service or whatever). there are many other staffs also make efforts for your pleasant stay, not just the frontline one who's lucky to get a day shift. please tip on your bill or the collection box.

Historically beautiful hotel with good service
Sense of history and elaborate interiors
9.3
The Metropole is lovely on so many levels: architecturally, inerior decor, pleasant staff, beautiful flowers, and excellent room service. Because I had to wait to get to my room, I was offered a drink at Le Club, which is a lovely cafe with rattan-fans and a conservatory looking out to the swimming pool. The French onion soup I had was wonderful, and it came with 6 pieces of bread! The hotel is lovely, especially the lobby of the historic wing -- masses of white lilies and orchids, appropriately dim/mood lighting (quite a contrast to the brighter/clearer look of the Opera Wing). Admittedly, the standard room was quite small although the beds were absoultely comfortable. The room colouring was a bit on the dark side (drak browns, white, black, and the occasional pop of red), which is literally the only 'down' side of the decor. Other than that, the hotel is perfect! After you check in, a lady even comes around with a rose bud for your room; in the evening, the 'turn down' service comes with chocolates and biscuits. Overall, this is a lovely hotel and a beautiful ambience, historic mood, and yet not overly studdy and formal.

The best in Hanoi
Refinement and quality of everything
9.3
Only one night - everything at a high standard as expected but had an early flight to catch and breakfast set up seemed a little disorganised. They were still getting ready at 6:30am and not fully prepared for early departures therefore feel we missed out on the breakfast we were looking forward to (and paid for).
The bbq grill smorgasboard the previous night at the Vietnamese in house restaurant was sensational however.

Lovely hotel
Sanctuary from Hanoi, could spend all day there and be comfortable.
9.3
The room was a delight. The bathroom was wonderful and we were impressed with the service from start to finish. It would have been nice to know that we could have booked an airport taxi to get to and from the airport and hotel, and had them pre-booked.

This hotel is perfect to come back to after sightseeing around the Hanoi area. It has old world style with fresh and modern decor, good choice of restaurants and fantastic staff. Feels like the Raffles of Hanoi.
