We thoroughly enjoyed a day of respite at this hotel. We ate at the hotel, enjoyed an afternoon sitting by the wonderful pool and the evening just enjoying the wonderful room. What was lacking was the warmth of staff that we had experienced in many hotels in Vietnam. Although we enjoyed the respite we felt isolated from reality. If this is the only place you stayed you would miss out on what Vietnam is all about. The location is not bad if you like walking.
building, pool, quietness
staff were task orientated and not hospitality orientated
- Travel tip : Definitely visit the pagoda on West Lake.

We loved our whole experience at the Sofitel. The price was just right. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We booked a day trip to Hay Long Bay through the hotel and it was very affordable. Everything was taken care of for us. We ate several times at the restaurants in the hotel because the food was so good. There's a wonderful bar at the top of the hotel with an amazing view of Hanoi.
Very good food, very helpful staff, beautiful hotel room.
It is a little hike to the tourists spots, but not that much and you don't have to contend with the noise.
- Hotel Feature Tip : The bar at the top of the hotel is worth it for the beautiful view of Hanoi.
