The hotel was close to being nice but despite the website saying the pool would be ready after February, by the end of March it still wasn't. The worst was that despite signs that renovation would start at 830, at 0700 they really started and it was unbelievably loud, jackhammers and the works.,

This is a decent hotel in a great location in the old quarter. It's close to shopping, and, of course, there are a lot of very good restaurants nearby. You can have everything from cheap street food, local coffee which serve great Vietnemese coffee in the mornings, and fine dining at many of the upscale places in the Hoan Kiem district.
Like most 'boutique' hotels in the area, the outside is a lot grander than the rooms themselves, but they were large and clean.
The buffet breakfast is not really anything to write home about, but the coffee was very strong, and the omelette and noodle station was nice.
