good place to stay as it is in the down town in old town. You can walk to sigificant places surround with great reception.
I love this hotel as it is in the city center. You can walk to the city lake and plave surround so easily. You can find shop surround and close to bus station. The hotel is nice with great reception and also good food as well. I love breakfast in the nice place and also nice meal.

Professional staff, English-speaking, clean spacious rooms
It's a value for money hotel
We stayed only one night and checked in late about 9pm and checked out early at 7am. We came away with no negative impressions of this hotel. We got upgraded to a deluxe room as there were no more standard rooms with twin beds as we had requested. The counter staff was friendly, courteous and even gave me a copy of an English travel magazine which I picked up in the hotel lobby. Did not use this hotel for long term stay so have no comments as to the location etc. But the rooms (at least the deluxe) is at least spacious and clean. Would comment that unlike other hotels which we stayed, the cable tv channels are limited. Finally, I would conclude that this hotel may be cheaper than Hong Ngoc 1 which we checked into subsequently but it's so much better in terms of cleanliness and atmosphere. Of course, it can't beat Maison D'Hanoi which we stayed in but then Maison was double the price. Overall, as I said earlier, nothing negative about this hotel.
Shopping Tip : For transport, always agree on the price in DONG and not USD first. Twice I have encountered transport operators (first was the airport private shuttle bus and second was the cyclo driver) which agreed on the price in USD then later asked for dong which upon conversion,is double the agreed amount

Location - it took at least 25 minutes to walk to the Hoan Kiem lake through the Old Quarter.
THe Viet Hotel is a reasonably priced centrally located hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are comfortable and service good. Breakfast included within the tarrif is basic but adequate. Free internet access and daily provision of fruit in the room are real pluses.The hotel is at the northern end of the Historic Quarter and fairly central although it is a fair walking distance to Hoam Kiem Lake which takes about 25 minutes.
Travel tip : If you are have to get a a cab make sure you get an idea of the cost to avoid getting ripped off. I found it convenient to get the receptionist to request the taxi and ask them for an indication of the cost.
