i payed for upgrade in room that includes as advertised washing machine, in house movies, dvd player, none of these were there so felt slightly cheated. also internet in room was only 1 bar although speed was OK. breakfast had to be ordered the night before and you had to state your time i stayed the previous week in a 2 star hotel where they are able to cook your breakfast fresh when u arrived.

I really disappointed about their service. This is the family company. One day, i opened the hotel's door for my son steped in but the young pregnant woman pushed him down to elbowed in the hotel.after that her husband also Steped in while i were holding the door. They are hotel host's daughter and son.
The room is not clean. the bed, tower, boiler, cups are so dirty

Our time at the Wild Lotus was very comfortable. The pictures from Agoda made me imagine a grand hotel upon arrival, but I arrived to a rather worn looking hotel lobby.
A bit nervous, i went to the room, which was great. very comfortable large beds, nice view of the Western Lake, great location if you want to escape in the morning for traditional french patisseries.
Give it a go.

Good spot in Tay Ho

Good location in Tay Ho, the expat area. Lots of restaurants and a few bars around the area. Right on the Westlake. Slightly closer to the airport than the Old Quarter. About 90,000 Dong ($4.50) in a taxi from the Old Quarter. I stayed here because I had things to do in Tay Ho. If I was in Hanoi as a tourist I would probably stay closer to the Old Quarter, but if you want a quieter area and don't mind getting a taxi then Tay Ho is a good place to stay.

Very good location for early fligths out of Hanoi, much cosier than the handfull of down at heel, basic establishments nearer to Noibai. That said, the newly refurnished rooms do little to hide the fact that this is very basic accomodation, and well overpriced unless you get the substantially discounted prices available through this and other booking agencies. Very friendly staff, further linguistic skills would not go amiss, but gold stars for trying. In the morning, with optimal timing, calculate 40 mins to the airport. Plenty of decent restaurants nearby, north-facing rooms have excellent views across West Lake.

we only stayed here for a short night because of an early flight out of noi bai. we chose this location because it is the closest to the airport with nice hotels, but still a 30 minute drive. the reception personel was very friendly and helpfull, they also offered wake-up call and taxi booking. our room, a suite, was very spacious with two king beds, a nice bathroom and overlooking the lake, even a small balcony. the only downside was a cafe next door with a live band and loud people leaving the cafe at 3 am. don't know if it is always like that, otherwise we would book this hotel again for an overnight stay before taking an early flight.

Lovely small hotel, nice location.

Good locale, small enough too give that individual special treatment. Breakfast is via pre-order but also they are flexible lf u sleep in and miss your time etc. nothing was too much trouble.
Would have liked a safe in the rooms but I don't think security is a major concern there.
Nightlife Tip:
Nice little expat bar right next door and also a DVD shop
