convenient place, staff couteous
Buffet breakfast is poor, it does not have too much choices for fruit.
The reception staff and the public relation officer
are politre and cooperative. They have given us a non smoking room as requested but lots of smoking odour inside of the room, we complained and they changed it for us immediately. Overall, the hotel is good . We will come back.Thanks.
Nightlife Tip : has casino for someone who live gambling.

very strategic location to shopping places.
has a good view (the river).
good and fast checking in/out.
the breakfast is too standard; less local dishes.
airport transfer is too expensive (USD 61); should be free.
room is too small for twin bed.
This is my first time visiting Saigon along with my friends. We're lucky, there's a hotel promo so the price is more affordable for us.
The hotel itself is nice, not like a boutique hotel but it's okay.
For improvement in the future, I think this hotel should start to think giving better services for overseas tourists, especially for people who are arrived at night. This maybe for free airport transfer (shuttle bus)or a very late check out, maybe at 4pm?
Oh ya, since I'm coming from the biggest moslem country, maybe the hotel should be ready to inform if someone ask for directions (point of the compass) for praying.

the lobby drink price is very expensive
This hotel location is very good, from hotel to airport just need 15 mins,, they have a very nice pizza restaurant next to the hotel, you must try. The hotel spa is very expensive but include a light meal after the spa. the service is very good,, if you stay on sunday, must try the brunch buffet, about HK$400. include all drinks, cocktails and Moet...cool
Restaurant Tip : Sunday Bunch

Expensive considering there's plenty of great competition nearby. Do your homework if your on a budget! Remember, A short walk to the Saigon Saigon Bar from a nearby hotel is always an option.
A great place for Business or Pleasure. Loved the live band in the Saigon-Saigon Bar. A great place to unwind after a long day of business or whether you were touristing around in Ho Chi Minh City.
Restaurant Tip : We ate at the 5 stars & 1 Star restaurants and found the "BEST" PHO noodle soup that Vietnam is famous for is at the "McDonalds" of Pho soup. It's called "PHO 24" and it's down the street from the Caravelle. Ask the Concierge which way to walk... Trust ME!

Central location.
Clean rooms.
Free in room WIFI.
Inefficient check in/out.
Expensive tours through concierge service.
Rooms dated.
We stayed for three nights in Oct 2009. We were a little disappointed with Ho Chi Minh City - not much to see and do beyond one day. We took a trip to the Mekong Delta but booked elsewhere. The Caravelle was fine - we liked the rooftop bar but the service there was slow, just like it was at the reception.

Great Location, the hotel locates in the city center.
The room is a bit old but still nice
It's very convenience to stay in this hotel. There is highland coffee (local brand) at the opposite where you can have coffee, cake or meal. Chinese reataurant is next to the hotel. Just 5 mins walk to KFC, convenience store and department store. The king bed size is unbelieveable, very big and comfortable. The swimming pool and gym are great!. The room interior is a bit old but still nice and clean.

Large rooms, Central Location, Good Service, Great business lounge, Good Food, Good Fittness Gym
Pool did not get enough sun all of the day
The Caravelle is 9 years old. It is a proffessionally run hotel with a wealth of experience. All the small little touches were there. We originally booked a Deluxe room, it looked ok but there was the option to upgrade as we did not have breakfast included in our package.
Check in was easy, we upgraded to a deluxe suite which made all the difference to our experieince. Large seperate bedroom with bathroom, seperate lounge room with tables, sofa's and seperate kitchen. Views of the city with 2 T.V's. Dont expect the most modern room, it great, cosy but not a 5 star fit out. There is plenty to do in the hotel if your tired from shopping... pool, cafe, 2 restaurants and roof top bar. The Hotel is located centrally to everything in district one. Close to Markets, shopping centres and the great restaurants. Carravelle is up there in price from mini bar to dining in there restaurants. If you want to save some cash, spend it upgrading a room and going out for lunch and dinner which there are plenty of cheaper places to eat round the corner. Otherwise enjoy the experience in this ritzy glitzy hotel. Staff were good, english ok, business lounge, great free food and drink for happy hour. Did not try the massage or facial although, QI spa is all around Vietnam's hotel with the same prices. Had a great and psitive experience although hour before we thought to try the cafe on ground level, ordered some juices and had to wait for 20 mins. Oh well... Paul & Baz
Shopping Tip : The markets are a real expereince. THEY RIP YOU OFF if you are no good at negotiation. There is a morning price, afternoon price, same same price.
Whatever the price, go nearly half, low ball them, expect to walk away, expect them to start negotiating. Dont think you got a bargain, cause their smarter than you! Enjoy, its a great experience. The smaller shops selling same items in the Bin Thien Market are same price or cheaper.

Very good location with service mind staff
Smoking smell even on non-smoking floor
I have spent 2 nights at HCMC for business purpose. The hotel is very good in location. It's a walkable distance to many visitor interesting points in HCMC. Atmospehere around the area is very good. I feel comfortable and safe during my first trip to the city. Restuarant, Department store and forex shop are also nearby.
All staff are very friendly and service mind.
The only dissapoint one is smoking smell. Even I choose non-smoking floor, but still smell it. May be it comes from air-conduct.
Shopping Tip : There is Saigon Square nearby that you could buy brand export garment in cheap price. Lemon grass reataurant is also very intersting Vietnam Authentic Restaurant. It locate in very nice HCMC view.

Good location, close to places of attraction and the business district
Room is clean and well stock with good quality toiletries
Internet speed is good
Room is well lit, suitable for business travellers
Expensive if there is no promotion rate
Concierge was not helpful enough
Guests directly booking room with the hotel seems to be given better atttention. Front desk courtesy needs to be improved
I stayed at the Caravelle in September 2009 and the stay was pleasent in general. Upon checking in, the front desk staff was slightly aggressive in promoting an upgrade package, which I do not feel comfortable with. The hotel is well located and close to some of the places of attraction as well as close to the business district. Other than the room rates are rather too high, this hotel is a choice worth considering be it for leisure or business. Since my stay in the hotel is only 2 nights, I have not noticed or encountered any major problems.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Close to the Ba Dinh market and the Saigon river, which is refreshing for a morning jog.

Good service, free internet in the room, spacious room, at the city center
None. Really enjoyed my stay! It is a bit pricey, that's all.
What I liked to the most about the hotel is the free internet they provided in the room, spacious room (the bed is huge and comfy), and the superior service. I had a problem with the internet connection in my room (I think it was my computer’s fault) and the staff really went a great distance to fix it. Really appreciated!! I would definitely stay at the Caravelle again on my next visit to HCMC.

Location is good, service is excellent.
My family really likes this hotel as the location is convenient and the service is excellent. They would like to stay here again if we ever go back to Ho Chi Minh. The Saigon Bar situated at the roof top of the hotel is really nice and can have a night view of Ho Chi Minh City.

Great location, helpful staff
Expensive, view of river blocked by Sheraton Hotel
Club amenities not as comprehensive as first thought. Club floors are on mid-level and not smoking-free. Normal rooms are higher than club rooms with better view of the river. Safe your money for food and shopping.
Travel tip : Ngon restaurant, frequented by both locals and tourists, is excellent. Make reservation and go early, as food runs out by 8.30pm. Ask concierge for directions.

good location
food is good
clean hotel
lack of assistance in the gym. i had a small accident in the gym because of the complicated smith machine.
over-all hotel was good except for the gym experience i had wherein I had a small wound in my chin. We wanted to talk with the general manger of the hotel but he/she was busy or was avoiding us. nevertheless, we left our comment card in the front desk. hopefully they will respond to our complain to avoid any accident in their health club.
