Great hotel

Reviewers should not expect Saigon five star hotels to mirror what is considered five star in Hong Kong.
The Hyatt is probably the only hotel in superior to this hotel but then expect to pay three time the price.
In light of the above, we have some very positive comments on this hotel.
The breakfast was very busy and even better the efficiency of the staff meant , never needed to queue. The service was very good, the poached eggs were as good as anywhere else in the world. They had good range of Asian and European dishes. It is not often you get roasted pork/ham for breakfast
We stayed in two rooms for three nights. The hotel is very safe, very clean and the staff are courteous, all of whom could understand our English.
The beds were comfortable (bedding arrangement).
Room service was quick (15-20 min), and unlike other reviewers, the pho arrived hot.
You could not find a more central location as it boarders the intersection of the Saigon CBD's two main streets.
Some more general comments for prospective visitors: the pool water in Saigon is fairly cold at this time of the year
It;s cheaper to taxi to the airport (USD$6) but you must prepare 40 minutes travelling time due to large number of motorcycles.

What you would expect for money paid

staff were very friendly and service was with a smile. concierge was very helpful and did not try and promote the hotel trips above our own choices. rooms are of adequate size for family of three and very well presented -clean and well maintained. would have liked more public space around the hotel to relax and read a book/newspaper when escaping the heat and humidity, although the choice of food and restaurants was excellent
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Saigon River Express - one day tour of the delta was excellent for a group consisting of an eight year old and an eighty three year old. Excellent staff who were very professional in the jobs they each had to do.

Caravelle Hotel is located right in the heart of District one. Only thing good about this hotel I feel is their location. Other than that nothing fantastic. The hotel feels pretty old and design of the room and furniture are old. Toilet is pretty small as well.
The hotel Staff were pretty helpful and friendly.

our first time staying at this hotel. nothing to complain. room service was fast and good food. entertainment (spanish singers) could be better. i'd rather listen to the phillipino ladies the last time i went which was 5 years ago. but i would stay again, feel safe and sleep peacefully. my kids felt comfortable and enjoyed it too. thank you.
Shopping Tip:
Cho Ben Thanh good to see but not buy as the merchants are mean and hiked up the price like anything. I spoke to them in Vietnamese to stop being rude when people don't buy anything and they used foul language at me...oh well.

Grand hotel with good service

the hotel looks grand and comfortable. the room is very clean and the overall service is satisfied. the staffs are generally polite and helpful. short distance from town about 8 mins drive. the hotel is near to tourism places.
