good location

no coffee/tea

The hotel is in a good location with a nice garden across the road from the hotel. A few tourist attractions nearby the hotel. I enjoyed the breakfast. A lot of varieties to choose from. Hotel staff are trying their best to help despite some difficulties in communication. I'll come back and stay with this hotel again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : nice garden across the road from the hotel

Good location, large room. Excellent breakfast.

Hotel decor a little tired, but not a problem for me.

The Chancery hotel is located quite close to the centre of HCM City, close to the War Remnants Museum and the Reunification Palace. The staff were very friendly and cooperative and the breakfast spread was excellent. The decor is in need of some rejuvenation but I did not find this a problem. There is an excellent park opposite the hotel which is often full of people exercising or just enjoying leisure time with friends or family.

Walking distance to water-puppet show, War Museum, Independent Hall, Saigon Cathedral.

Slow water drainage in the shower. Not much choice for breakfast.

We chose this hotel as it is close to several tourist spots. Staff are nice and efficient. We checked-out at midnight and the staff helped get us a taxi at a reasonable price. All rooms are suites. We booked a standard room but it looked very big. Besides, there is a big park opposite to the hotel.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Buy tickets for water-puppet show in advance so you can have the front seats.

Good location and fairly large space. Good for business travellers who need work space.

Maintenance is poor. Precisely the same poor-quality breakfast day after day.

Need to better maintain the hotel. But the low rate I could get online was good.Make sure to book ahead online.

Restaurant Tip : Reasonable bakery one street behind the hotel.

Convenience, Good location.

Air condition is not cool enough. Restaurant is old and no air condition.

It's located in good area easy to catch taxi. But it's quite old hotel which you can see from the room has some rotted timbers, especially at top floor where is a location of restaurant it’s quite old and need renovation and I think should have good air condition.

The room was very large being divided into two sections giving our daughter her own space. The breakfast buffet had a fair range although unless you were there early the food was cold

The building is old and even though it has been renevated it is still a bit rough. All charges in the hotel are priced in $USA but are billed in Vietnam Dong.

My wife, daughter and I stayed 5 nights in this hotel. I found the staff to be helpful even though we had trouble with the language barrier. The buffet breakfast was good and there is a nice park across the road. The restaurant/cafe was OK but a bit confusing with the way they bill in $USA but charge in Vietnam Dong.

Friendly staff Easy check-in and check-out processes Free wi-fi Great breakfast Broad selection of food options Cozy bar/pub for relaxation

Some deferred maintenance is noticeable Food and beverages are a bit pricey Pest control (ants, lizards) needs improvement

The Chancery is a jewel of a hotel tucked away north of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. It offers the comforts and conveniences of a mid-price-range European hotel, with the clear sense of being in Asia. Convenient to the sights of District 1 (Opera House, Cathedral, shopping, and restaurants) ... yet not over-commercialized or over-priced! Staff is friendly and accommodating, yet very professional. Within a few days, one feels like a long-time resident, rather than a temporary guest ... and certainly NEVER an inconvenience! Overall, great value for the money, combined with superior location. Highly recommend!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Take time to walk through the park directly across Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. It is relaxing and fascinating. Do not look for "entertainment" per se. Just enjoy the ambiance.

Friendly staff Large rooms free wifi in the rooms

Breakfast ended at 9am was in an unairconditioned room

Hotel was in a good location walking distance to most attractions. Large rooms all suites however the suite room consisted of a sitting room with a small table and chairs and a love seat. We used it for suitcases only. Breakfast was ho hummy and ended at nine, too early for us. They charged us for bottled water, none complimentary. Had to request the pot for hot water. We stayed three nights and found a more reasonable place for the remaining five nights of our stay.

Travel tip : Close to the water puppet theater which is worth a visit.

Slightly better than a hostel.Free internet Good breakfast.

1 male supervisor very rude. Cleanliness.

We were give a very dingy room at the back of the hotel. Air con gave the occasional blat of stinking drains. Later when we came to go to bed, it was covered in ants, 1 staff member was extremely put out to give us another room key and asked how many ants? (131 I replied, I counted each one!!). It was apparently a downgrade as the room was smaller but much nicer and brighter. Air con was like a 747 during takeoff. Breakfast was a good spread but wasnt the cleanest place I have been. Cant fault the girls behind the recpetion (In vietnam it always seems to be the younger men that are unhelpful and rude)

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Handy for war remnants museum and nice park out front.

None

We checked in the afternoon with great ease and assistance from the entire staff at the hotel. We were given complete information regarding the amenities of the hotel. We found the suite roomy and warm. The electricity socket was a dream to use after some we have used. We received the wakeup call we requested on time and enjoyed the breakfast available to us.

Restaurant Tip : Close to area 1 and good eating.

Like the suites, nice location, very helpful staff.

bed a little hard, breakfast meager.

The staff here were very helpful, recommending places to eat, and helping us arrange taxi for early morning train. They also packed up our breakfast for us since we had to leave before they started serving. They also had the baby cot ready and waiting, which we had requested.

Very near to the airport

Old & Rundown

I chose this hotel as its very near to the airport, as its convenient for me to reach airport on the next day. It took only less than 5 mins to reach there. The hotel is managed by local vietnamese, so its a bit different with those 5-star hotel that I usually stay. I don't think I will stay there again as the conditions is really bad and the staff performance is poor too. The breakfast served is so lousy.

Nice and big room with sitting room and dining table. There's a leisure garden opposite the hotel, which is convenience for morning jogging and exercise.

Breakfast is poor and need improvement, staffs can't speak proper English. When check in on 1st day there's no tea-coffee making facility in the room, when made an inquiry to reception desk, one of the male receptionist lied that Agoda's did not make such request when I make reservation, but 2nd day when I approach another shift female staff then she told me that the housekeeping forgot to supply it, so then they replace the tea-coffee making facilities.

Overall the staffs are polite beside the fact that they need to improve their English level and breakfast need to upgrade. They must prepare all room facilities beforehand as advertised on their hotel web page. Hotel actually is at good location and is convenient at walking distance to many places. As conclusion this hotel is worth to stay.

Nightlife Tip : The garden opposite the hotel is a good place for morning physical exercise and even a nice leisure place at night, especially weekend night there's lots of interested hucksters.

clean, quiet and near all amenities

Lobby a bit too small especially when catering for large groups

This is my second stay at the Chancery, and my stay in Chancery has been a good one. As a frequent business traveller, the Chancery offers suite-type room for the rate of normal standard room. The suite rooms offers comfort and excellent working conditions for the business traveller. Most importantly, the rooms are clean and fresh. Free unlimited in-room WiFi access is an added bonus. The Chancery is located opposite a big matured park, which is a good relaxing place to be in the evening after a busy day. The only drawback is the bar at lobby is quite disappointing and lack of ambience. The lobby is also a little small, and can be quite crowded especially with the arrival and check-in of tourists in a large group. But on the overall, the saty at the Chancery has been good with ever eager staffs give a helping hand when in need. Highly recommended.

Shopping Tip : Short walk to the "market" for lots of bargain shoes, bags and souveniers.
