Friendly staff Easy check-in and check-out processes Free wi-fi Great breakfast Broad selection of food options Cozy bar/pub for relaxation

Some deferred maintenance is noticeable Food and beverages are a bit pricey Pest control (ants, lizards) needs improvement

The Chancery is a jewel of a hotel tucked away north of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. It offers the comforts and conveniences of a mid-price-range European hotel, with the clear sense of being in Asia. Convenient to the sights of District 1 (Opera House, Cathedral, shopping, and restaurants) ... yet not over-commercialized or over-priced! Staff is friendly and accommodating, yet very professional. Within a few days, one feels like a long-time resident, rather than a temporary guest ... and certainly NEVER an inconvenience! Overall, great value for the money, combined with superior location. Highly recommend!

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Take time to walk through the park directly across Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. It is relaxing and fascinating. Do not look for "entertainment" per se. Just enjoy the ambiance.

Friendly staff Large rooms free wifi in the rooms

Breakfast ended at 9am was in an unairconditioned room

Hotel was in a good location walking distance to most attractions. Large rooms all suites however the suite room consisted of a sitting room with a small table and chairs and a love seat. We used it for suitcases only. Breakfast was ho hummy and ended at nine, too early for us. They charged us for bottled water, none complimentary. Had to request the pot for hot water. We stayed three nights and found a more reasonable place for the remaining five nights of our stay.

Travel tip : Close to the water puppet theater which is worth a visit.

Slightly better than a hostel.Free internet Good breakfast.

1 male supervisor very rude. Cleanliness.

We were give a very dingy room at the back of the hotel. Air con gave the occasional blat of stinking drains. Later when we came to go to bed, it was covered in ants, 1 staff member was extremely put out to give us another room key and asked how many ants? (131 I replied, I counted each one!!). It was apparently a downgrade as the room was smaller but much nicer and brighter. Air con was like a 747 during takeoff. Breakfast was a good spread but wasnt the cleanest place I have been. Cant fault the girls behind the recpetion (In vietnam it always seems to be the younger men that are unhelpful and rude)

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Handy for war remnants museum and nice park out front.

We checked in the afternoon with great ease and assistance from the entire staff at the hotel. We were given complete information regarding the amenities of the hotel. We found the suite roomy and warm. The electricity socket was a dream to use after some we have used. We received the wakeup call we requested on time and enjoyed the breakfast available to us.

Restaurant Tip : Close to area 1 and good eating.

Like the suites, nice location, very helpful staff.

bed a little hard, breakfast meager.

The staff here were very helpful, recommending places to eat, and helping us arrange taxi for early morning train. They also packed up our breakfast for us since we had to leave before they started serving. They also had the baby cot ready and waiting, which we had requested.

Nice and big room with sitting room and dining table. There's a leisure garden opposite the hotel, which is convenience for morning jogging and exercise.

Breakfast is poor and need improvement, staffs can't speak proper English. When check in on 1st day there's no tea-coffee making facility in the room, when made an inquiry to reception desk, one of the male receptionist lied that Agoda's did not make such request when I make reservation, but 2nd day when I approach another shift female staff then she told me that the housekeeping forgot to supply it, so then they replace the tea-coffee making facilities.

Overall the staffs are polite beside the fact that they need to improve their English level and breakfast need to upgrade. They must prepare all room facilities beforehand as advertised on their hotel web page. Hotel actually is at good location and is convenient at walking distance to many places. As conclusion this hotel is worth to stay.

Nightlife Tip : The garden opposite the hotel is a good place for morning physical exercise and even a nice leisure place at night, especially weekend night there's lots of interested hucksters.

clean, quiet and near all amenities

Lobby a bit too small especially when catering for large groups

This is my second stay at the Chancery, and my stay in Chancery has been a good one. As a frequent business traveller, the Chancery offers suite-type room for the rate of normal standard room. The suite rooms offers comfort and excellent working conditions for the business traveller. Most importantly, the rooms are clean and fresh. Free unlimited in-room WiFi access is an added bonus. The Chancery is located opposite a big matured park, which is a good relaxing place to be in the evening after a busy day. The only drawback is the bar at lobby is quite disappointing and lack of ambience. The lobby is also a little small, and can be quite crowded especially with the arrival and check-in of tourists in a large group. But on the overall, the saty at the Chancery has been good with ever eager staffs give a helping hand when in need. Highly recommended.

Shopping Tip : Short walk to the "market" for lots of bargain shoes, bags and souveniers.

Big enough with separate bedroom and living room. Free wireless internet connection.

Bathtub was big enough but kind of difficult to use.

I was very happy at free wireless internet connection service with enough strong signals for business use. The selection of its breakfast buffet was a bit insufficient to me like fruits and drinks. I requested nonsmoking room but was assigned to smoking one. The hotel may be smoking-only hotel? Everytime I took shower, I had to worry about spilling water onto the floor out of the tub.

Restaurant Tip : Its coffee shop on the ground floor was convenient to me for meetings.

The hotel has a great location, near most of the parks and a short walk to downtown, if you will.

The Internet at the lobby need some improvement. The computers are old and without most of the programs you would use. Also the connection is not very reliable.

It has been the second time I stayed at the Chancery and there will be a third one. I've elected the Chancery for my stays in Ho Chi Minh for the convenient location and for the affordable price. It's a comfortable hotel and I would recommend it for those who would like a peace of mind.

Travel tip : Good location for a walk on the major parks in the vicinity.

Very good buffet breakfast spread. Lovely large rooms Excellent free internet wireless service in room. Good location.

Breakfast until 9am - should be later like 10.30am.

What I love about this hotel is it has a room and a hall. We have 3 persons and the hall came in handy for the 3rd person. The air con was great and the service was excellent. Beds were turn in daily and new toiletaries were provided without any fuss. I surf the net a lot and was extremely please to see free connections available in the room. The rooms were clean. Will want to stay there again when I next visit.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The water puppet show is just opposite the hotel and the nearby Cua Dong market has great food stalls and Nike shoes at very reasonable prices.

Not complimetnary drinking water in the room, the air-conditioning is very old and not working properly.

Not bad for this room rate in HCMC. Big room but rooms facilities are not very good. Clean and quiet.

Hotel Feature Tip : PLs check when you check in no complimentary drinking water in rooms!

Rooms were large and unique. Free wireless with good connection.

Restaurant is terrible and charges 5 star prices. Location far away from District 1.

This hotel has decent sized rooms and a unique layout. The wireless Internet has a good connection. the property is close to war remnants museum which you can walk to in 5 minutes. I would not stay here if I return to Ho Chi Minh city. I would stay somewhere closer to district 1. The restaurant charges extremly high prices for what they offer.

Room and facilities are clean. Staff is also accessible and kind.

Though our room has windows but they can not be open and transparent so that we can not see anything outside (such as city view or weather) from the room.

I stayed one night at a suite room of this hotel. The staff is very kind and room is clean. I think this hotel can be recommended for stay for this price One problem is that in our room, there are windows but they can not be open and are not transparent so that we can not see anything outside from our room, such as weather and city view.

Proximity to attractions and the quiet rooms.

None

My husband and I stayed at the Chancery Hotel July 2008. The stay proved to be very enjoyable. The suites are quite large and spacious. We were fortunate to have a recently renovated room so the furnishings were new and refreshing. We liked the proximity to surrounding attractions and certainly enjoyed the beautiful park that was situated directly opposite the hotel. The staff at the hotel were both friendly and cooperative. The buffet served on the 7th floor overlooking the park was more than adequate. Should we be lucky enough to visit Ho Chi Minh again the Chancery would be our choice.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Book you tickets to the puppet show on the day prior to you wanting to attend, this is to avoid disappointment and secure a front row seat. Visit the Botanical Gardens and Zoo on the weekend to enjoy the park as the locals do.
