Convenient location to city, transport easy to get, roowas comfortable.
Good restaurant
Lobby requires some airing out as there is a very musty smell, possible requires new carpets and lighting, general sprucing up as it is the main enterance
Breakfast menu could be improved
Generally for the cost it was acceptable, staff are very helpfull and accomodating. restaurant was convenient and some good meals served. Breakfast could be improved
Travel tip : Teller machine opposite 50meters to the left.
Church around the corner along with shops and food places.

The Empress is surprisingly quiet, very clean and the staff were always ready to help with everything. The all day attached restaurant was a bonus, too.
The location was a little further 'out' than expected but it made for a very short easy walk to the gardens and the Reunification Palace. Once we braved up to crossing the streets, it was also easy to get to Allez Boo for breakfast before the Ben Thanh market.
As our first hotel in Vietnam, we were delighted with the Empress and would recommend it. While the twin room was a little cramped, the bathroom is generous with a great shower. The business centre is quite adequate for doing emails and some printing. The attached restuarant offered a comprehensive menu and long opening hours made it a good spot for reading over coffee or a drink. The duty managers could fix anything including phones on global roaming and the bell boys were brilliant at picking out only the best taxis!

Room was cozy and nice. Small but it is ok for 2.
Staff of hotel were very kind and nice.
Morning breakfast was nice, too.
I don't see anything bad or weakness.
Small but cozy and nice hotel, helpful staff.. nice breakfast.. You don't mind walking distance.. you should try this hotel.
Hotel Feature Tip : It is not close to the downtown. If you hate walking, then you should try another hotel or prepare to ride a cab.

Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Clean Hotel and quite a good location where it is not noisy. Cozy boutique hotel where basic amenities are provided . Varieties of TV channel that keep us entertained. Price very reasonable with the services and standard.
A little run down and the standard rooms are quite small.
Overall we were happy to be in Empress Hotel as the staff are friendly and helpful. Good location where shady trees are around the corner that makes the hotel much cooler and cozy.
Shopping Tip : Location is quite near to Ben Than Market and you can walk from the Hotel to the Ben Than Market and at the same time see the surrounding. Also near to Dong Khoi where the upmarket area for shopping and dining.

staff quit nice, even though they cant speak good in english, they will try to help you to solve/answer anything.
my room not pre-pare well, as 1st night, my room no paper roll only tissue paper, no bath shower and shampoo. But then 2nd night, I got the paper roll but no tissue paper!
also the restaurant staff not so nice and not helpful sometime, of course, I wont try to stay at restaurant for long time. But so far everything is OK.
Restaurant Tip : around the hotel, many many food shop or restaurants, so no need worry about dinning!

I like the followings :
- Lobby
- Room
I dislike the followings :
- You have to walk outside the hotel to the hotel restaurant
- The bathroom is a bit small
I was in Saigon in May 2009 for few days for city trip with my wife and my 7 yrs old son, we stayed at Empress hotel, district 1, Saigon.
We have booked the hotel room via internet through agoda, the hotel is situated in nice and centrally located in the heart of town, the room and the lobby are nice and cozy, the staff are quite friendly.
You just can walk few minutes to other street, you will find a lot of shop that you can do shopping, diferrent kind of goods. Saigon is very safe to walk around, there are few parks by walking distance from this hotel which is good for us to relax after hours of walking, you can just sit in the park and have drink while watching things that happening in the park.
We enjoy this city trip and we plan to return to Vietnam again in the near future.
Shopping Tip : Just few minutes walk from this hotel to other street, there are a lot of shops, you can stroll around doing shoping.

The staff at Empress Hotel were very professional and helpful. The city tour that was recomended by the front desk was very good. All in all our stay was great
Location was not that good. Had to taxi everywhere
Our stay at the Empress Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City was very nice. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and most enjoyable. The hotel was very clean and the staff very professional and helpful at all times. As I do not speak Vietnamese it was very helpful that most of the staff spoke English. I would recomend The Empress in the future
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : You will need to taxi everywhere from this hotel

I don't like the way they serve customers. They all don't seem friendly.
I don't understand why they behave like this with such a hotel.

We relocated to the Empress from the Chancery due to price. We liked the Empress better even though the rooms were small they had everything you needed and were clean and well airconditioned which was a big deal at 35 degrees celcius. The restaurant next door had an adequate breakfast and was air conditioned as well, another plus.
Empress is located in District 1 which is where we wanted to be. They also offered very reasonable tours of the city and to Mekong Delta. We took both at only $12 USD for a full day tour including lunch.
Very friendly staff and always someone at the desk who spoke english.
Travel tip : There is a super market at the end of the street where you can pick up drinks, snack, and toiletries you might need.

Everything was OK. Everything you needed were there.
The lobby is full with people and they are all very friendly. The restaurant (with breakfast) is in a building on the side, but works perfectly. The rooms are not that big, but you have everything you need. The business center is also ok. And the terrace is nice for a soft time where you can see the never-ending traffic on the streets of Saigon.

nice and clean rooms, helpful staff
A nice clean Hotel in the middle of Ho Chi Minh City
The hotel is located in District 1, which is the center of the city. I was able to visit many places of interest to tourists just by walking. The hotel has a very good small restaurant on the first floor

Limited space, food and flexibility
My stay was very good. After all, a hotel is used for showering and sleep, which the Empress provides. It is set in a good location, very quiet at nite, with many places to eat and shop at every corner. Tourist locations are 20 minute walk, which is not to bad. Be prepared to cross a lot of streets and get hassled by taxis all over the hotel, which is like any hotel. Stay there!
