Value for money Good locatiobn Cleanliness Friendly staff

Bed not comfortable and comes with bed bug

Value for money, the staff were very friendly and eager to help out. The location is very convienent close to shopping area and downtown. Hotel is clean where the bath room is superbly clean without any trace of mold. This is definitely the cheapest 3 star hotelper night in the general area. For those hotel near the market, a 3 star hotel. Good Price the hotel is worth more.

The old world charm of the hotel was lovely. The staff were very efficient. The rooms were clean and well equipped - loved the personal safe. Loved the staircase - never used the lift. Bell boys, receptionist and Manager were very friendly.

My room was a bit small for me.

I was really happy to arrive - the staff made me welcome and couldn't help enough with trips, directions, taxis, etc. The hotel was a good find location-wiose. Very central for walking to the sites. I was sad to leave - I could have stayed longer, both to see Saigon more and to receive the lovely welcome on my return after a long hot day discovering Vietnam. Very lovely stay.

Shopping Tip : Got to Ben Thanh markets at beginning of trip - not at end like me and my friends (then you can return another day)- what a great atmostphere and value for money.

Minimal for the stay

The hotel provided a very efficient check in with our rooms being available immmediately. The hotel is centrally located to lots of major attractions which were easy to walk to. The staff were very pleasant and keen to assist with day trip bookings, getting taxis etc. The rooms were clean and tidy, with no problems.

I liked the american style breakfast.

Oldfashioned shower

The room was ok.But the bathroom had another guest already,a small lizzard. But nice to have company as i am a solotraveler.. The shower was oldfashioned. You could not take it in your hand as it did not have a cable. And it was situated at 1.5m altitude and i am a normal long european.Very inconveniant! In my opinion the breakfast, american style breakfast, was very good.So it in a way compensated a little bit the shower problem..

The happy tour did not send us back to the hotel after the cu chi tunnel..

We stay there for 3 days.. The counter staff are very friendly... Overall if you wants a budget stay.. this hotel is good.. Although the hotel look old from outside.. The room are still well maintain..

Some friendly conversation with the staff

Curfew for visitors to guest room.

This is my first visit to Vietnnam. Everything is so new to me including the hotel that i stayed that forbids visitors to stay in the guest room after 10.30pm. Maybe that's the hotel ruling in Vietnam. As it's my Vietnamese finace that meets me at the hotel, I therefore ask for an half hour extension for my fiance to stay in my room. Luckily it was granted.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Motor riding and street crossing are the two main culture shock that I experienced the most.

Good location, walking around, good opportunitis for shopping, eating,...

The airconditioning didn't work, litt noisy at night and early in the morning because my room was near the main street side.

I think the hotel is ok to stay for 1 or 2 nights. The staff performance was not so polite such as i expected even if i am an vietnamese. I don't know i would like to stay at this hotel again in my near future because i travel a lot and at least one time in HCM city every year. We have so many choices and i will see.

clean room, internet works

location wise - not quite convenient side of District 1.

Clean rooms, wireless internet works, there is also a room safe (which is good and convenient, most similar class hotels do not have room safes). The restaurant also serves decent quality food at a reasonable price. Staff ok, friendly and helpful. For the me, the only hiccup is that the hotel is at the not so convenient location of District 1, thus I find myself taking a lot of taxi rides to get to where I want to go, even within District 1.

Decent, but nothing special Guest Rating: 6.7

Clean rooms, friendly staff, good location

Awful view from our room (of a dirty vent and run down roofs), small room, poor gym

I chose this hotel as it was very reasonably priced, considering its location and that it had a fitness centre. However, you do get what you pay for - room was small but well equipped. View from the window was terrible so had to keep the wooden blinds closed.

Decent breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Room is clean though a bit small

A bit far from city central.

The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. Communication is not a problem as they speak English well. The location of the hotel is about 15 to 20 mins walk from the city central thus traffice outside the hotel is good and not so noisy. Just wish to mention one incident that I feel a bit unahappy about the service. When we were about to leave for airport, a hotel porter tried to offer his service by calling a taxi for us and told us that the fare is US$7. But when we requested the driver to go by meter instead, we paid less than US$4 when we reached the airport.

Restaurant Tip : There are some good eateries just around the corner on the main road which is well within walking distance and the price is reasonable.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Office staff speak good English. Clean and cosy rooms.

The restaurant attached to the hotel could do with some improvement. Breakfast was acceptable without being a real spread. However, the staff were friendly. The location although in District 1 is not close in. That said, the taxi ride into the centre is no more than 60pence.

We spent 5 nights at this friendly and comfortable Hotel. The staff were were very welcoming and always helpful. Our triple room consisted of 2 separate rooms with a wooden sliding door. The room was very clean and had a cosy feel about it. This was definitely good value for money and we would be happy to stay at the Empress again.

Friendly helpful staff Good location Relatively cheap- +-$30 per night Close to French Bakery/restaurant Room price included breakfast

Hotel restaurant not very good Cooks some strange versions of various foods My room location hard to get to. Elevator to 1st or 3rd floor walk across to other building ,then up or down stairs to get to room

Overall I'd say it is a good place to stay especially for the price. There are cheaper places but The Empress is in a pretty good area and I might stay there again. I do have to say however that this is the only hotel I've ever stayed in in HCMC

The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful

The breakfast is just OK.

The staffs are very friednly and helpful, and sincere! They helped to book us a cab, and arrange for trip (which cost less than US$ 10.00). They also advised us places to visit. There were 3 of us staying in the room, which we got our free upgrade. Supposed we paid US$ 16.00/night for "add one bed" price. Then we got a bigger room!

Convenient location to city, transport easy to get, roowas comfortable. Good restaurant

Lobby requires some airing out as there is a very musty smell, possible requires new carpets and lighting, general sprucing up as it is the main enterance Breakfast menu could be improved

Generally for the cost it was acceptable, staff are very helpfull and accomodating. restaurant was convenient and some good meals served. Breakfast could be improved

Travel tip : Teller machine opposite 50meters to the left. Church around the corner along with shops and food places.
