Standing in the riverside area, the 107-guestroom colonial style hotel was built in 1930 and was completely restored in 1997. The Grand Hotel is conveniently located eight kilometers from the Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Situated in a quiet corner on Dong Khoi Street, it is also just one kilometer away from city center, where guests will find many shopping markets and restaurants. Guests are also just a short walk away from the scenic Saigon River. The three-star hotel has a charming garden courtyard surrounding the swimming pool. Location is great, rooms in the old wing are much better

Old and noisy AC

The hall was under renovation and covered. My opinion can not be considered as i did not see much! We booked the best room and the AC did not work properly. Then, when working, it was too noisy. For that price in that city I was expecting much more. The sizes of the room (old wing)was great! Wooden floor make it confortable. Good bed also. Old sltyle telephones give the room a nice athmosphere. The installations are limited. Free internet. Medium quality breakfast. Service acceptable but slow. They look very lazy waiting for the high season to arrive.

Shopping Tip : Many art galleries in this street. Opera house just 2 minutes walk away.

Nice swimming pool in the middle of the city was a pleasant surprise despite not getting much sunshine during the day. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The lobby area being renovated at the time of our stay plus several construction sites all around the hotel made us wake up to the sound of hammer drills and other construction tools. The gym is actually a small area with a treadmill and some free weights by the pool so don't expect a full workout.

We thought we stayed at this hotel before but was mistaken and it turned out to be a nice surprise. The hotel is clean, the rooms nice and airy and the staff very friendly. Nice swimming pool and the whole colonial charm was quite unexpected and the services were very good for the price we paid.

The Grand Hotel in Saigon is a place which has retained something of its past splendor, in a city which is growing rapidly and is trying to catch up with the rest of South East Asia. The beautiful 1930's architecture in the heart of District 1 on Dhong Koi Street, where all the trendy boutiques are settling still remains a landmark. It is well situated, not far from the river, and is part of the old French Colonial architecture which typifies District 1, it still retains a romantic atmosphere and the personnel is very helpful and friendly. All in all a very good address!
