the hotel is a nice place for visit but it is not for businesspeople because the usuage of internnet is not included which normally all other hotels do in Asia. the staff need to bit more trained and the breakfast is not like it should be for a four star hotel. But the location is very good.

We stayed at the Grand hotel for three nights in September 2008. Had a room in the new wing on the third floor. The room was spacious and very clean. Coffee/tea maker, a well stocked mini bar and a safe. Comfortable beds, except from the pillows which I found quite hard. Bathroom ok, a bit on the basic side.
Staff very good. Friendly, helpful and efficient.
Nice breakfast with a good variety of dishes. The hotel also has a very pleasant pool area. The location right on the mainroad is great. Walking distance to just about everything. No traffic noise - at least not in our room. (311). A solid mid- range hotel.
Superb location, spacious rooms, and nice pool area.
Basic bathrooms.
- Restaurant Tip : Augustin, french bistro in Ton Thiep (next to Lemongrass) great, but simple food and good prices. The lamb is a "must try!" Skewers: very good food and nice ambience. Rooftop bar at the Caravelle hotel: have a drink before dinner. The view is fantastic.
Star Rating Overrated - At best, 3 Stars.

Overall, not worth the money. Its a basic hotel, star rating at best is 3 star (or upper 2 star). We paid USD 150 per nite, but I think its only worth USD 65 at most. The hotel looks GRAND from the outside and its lobby. But the rooms are very basic. After a long day travelling (work & pleasure), you'd definitely want to come back to a comfortable, eye-pleasing, $150 room, but unfortunately you will be disappointed.
Good location, but there are many other less expensive hotels nearby as well. Look grand from the outside and lobby only.
Dont expect a 4-star luxury because there is none. Very basic offerings in the room. Furniture and fittings very old.
- Shopping Tip : There a nearby small shopping mall that offer great last-minute shopping. Be sure to bargain hard. Also a great Japanese fusioned restaurant.

Nice looking hotel, lovely decor, really aimed at the business tourist though. I thought the hotel was overpriced for what we got, would not strongly recommend it unfortunately.
Good location, good choice at buffet breakfast, rooms clean, nice view from top floor bar.
You must pay to use the internet! you must pay to use the jacuzzi, sauna and steamroom also, not exactly what the hotel advertises! Housekeeping not up to the standard you would expect from a four star hotel, and i was refused pineapple juice for my breakfast one morning because i was too late (I arrived for breakfast at 8.30 and breakfast finishes at 9). And the swimming pool is a lot smaller than the photos on the website would lead you to believe!

- the hotel location is very good: all points of touristic interest reachable in walking distance or within a few minutes by taxi or cyclo
- impressive 1900 th century architecture, including a nice old fashioned swimming pool
- friendly staff
- spacious room and beds in very good condition
- very nice riverview if required
- breakfast hours a little bit to early (finish at 9:00)
location, ambience
somehow outdated bathrooms

It is a nice hotel to stay if you are there for a holiday though I personally find it a bit costly.
I would not recommend this hotel for business travellers requiring good internet connectivity in rooms.
- Restaurant Tip : Nam Kha restaurant is just a short walk away from the hotel along Dong Khoi street. Very nice Vietnamese cuisine but expensive.
Vietnam House is another nice restaurant. They have 4 set menus serving 7 dishes in sampler sizes. Excellent for tasting the various types of Vietnamese food and reasonably priced as well.
Not so bad after all

All in all a good stay and you can have a good time there - I will try another hotel next time so I can be more fair in my comparison.
Great location & staff performance!

Staff is professional and efficient. I had requested a twin-sharing room with a large bed instead of two twin beds. Upon checking-in, I had been given a room with two twin beds. Since I had checked-in at 1am, it was difficult for the hotel to do anything for me at that time so the floor manager told me that they would handle my request later in the morning. When I went down a few hours later for breakfast and checked with the front desk, they were aware of the problem and, by the time I finished breakfast they already had a new room for me with a large bed!
- Hotel Feature Tip : In the gift shop within the hotel, I found on display some unique table decor items made of sand paintings enclosed in glass. Very original and beautiful! Couldn't find them elsewhere in Saigon.

I found the spacious rooms very relaxing and enjoyed the central location, which was very convenient for local sightseeing and shopping. A swim in the internal courtyard swimming pool was a welcome relief after the heat of the streets.
- Restaurant Tip : 'Lemon Grass' restaurant is very close and is an excellent value dining experience.

- Nightlife Tip : if your an aussie go to the gecko bar just around the corner. Its a home away from home.
