Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Enjoyable stay
Comfortable, tasteful rooms, rooftop cafe with brilliant city and river views
8
I enjoyed my time at the Grand Saigon Hotel which became oasis from the hustle and bustle of the busy streets of District 1. While located a little out-of-the-way from the central hub of the Saigon Opera House I never found myself regretting the choice on a return home walk. Driving to the airport on a quiet Sunday only took 30 minutes or so and cost around vnd on the taxi meter. Hotel door staff will charge 200,000 if you ask for a taxi but think of the extra charge as a tip.
My Junior Deluxe room in the newest part of the hotel was tastefully furnished, clean and of a comfortable size that had a partial view of the Saigon River. Windows were double-glazed and kept most of the noise out while the beds were snug, firm but a little short. My twin room felt a little cluttered due to the inclusion of 2 sitting chairs and a table. But there was a good size writing desk with a solid chair and power points. The spacious bathroom housed a separate bath and shower which offered solid water pressure. The TV included 40 channels many of which were in English and some that were movie only. In-room WIFI coverage was free and solid.
The pool area felt a little cramped and was unfortunately under shadow for most of the day due to the hotel's towers. But there was a great rooftop cafe at level 20 that while expensive did offer a 2 for the price of 1 happy hour in the afternoon. Breakfast was a standard Vietnamese Asian/Western affair. It was reasonable and varied though.
Restaurant Tip:
I would avoid the coffee and go to a nearby coffee-house such as Kita Cafe instead.

Although the hotel was empty I got a room with no view but a wall. It was dark and I felt like a prison room. The room was clean and staff very attentive. I would pick the majestic Htl next time. Area was nice and good restaurants all around. Breakfast was good.

Clean and convenient hotel
Renovated and retrofitted
7.7
I'd stayed at Grand Hotel Saigon before its renovation some years ago. In this stay, it's upgraded and the level of comfort has definitely elevated to a new high.

The hotel was great - they give you fresh fruit in your room every day. The location was amazing and you could walk everywhere. Don't book tours through the hotel - double the price!
Hotel Feature Tip:

a nice view from hotel roof bar and restaurant.food served very cool and on cold plates which for food is not good.
if you are a vegetarian then the menu here is not for you as choices very restricted.
nice swimming pool area with a bar and surround by the old french part of hotel
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
the hotel is located downtown close to the shops and nightlife with good selection of restaurants close by.downside of location is always being pestered by street traders who dont take no for an answer.go to the riverside to book trips if you want to see river by day as hotel said that ther was no day trips, but on going to river found plenty of boats available and very inexpensive .

Internet connection was fantastic, close to everything and breakfast was what I needed.
The hotel was exactly as it was in the brochure and was what we needed as travelers to Ho Chi Min City for the first time.
Front desk was very helpful!

Excellent location.
Central part of the city. The rooms are comfortable.

me and my friend each booked separate rooms at this hotel. both were excellent. he had booked with agoda and i had no prior reservation. the quoted price at the front desk was a good bit higher than the agoda rate, so i used their lobby computer and booked via agoda. i'm sure they were crazy about this. the breakfast was excellent. the location was ideal.
